You have to question their mentality(JGill for a start) in criticizing Bayo - without him we may well be Conference side by now. If AB can get another CF capable of matching Bayo's record he would have done well. Blaming Bayo for a failed promotion effort - more likely Langers absence and Platts inability to weigh in with a few more goals than he did.

The Platt and Bayo comparison looks like this since Bayo's last open play goal? (19 Jan)
Platt - Played 774 mins -   Matches Started: 12   W8 D1 L3 2 goals
Bayo - Played 1449 mins - Matches Started: 15   W8 D1 L6 1 goal(pen)   Evil

If you're quoting stats ,why not put up assists and the Platt and Bayo comparison for the whole season

Bayo was NOT our highest earner. OK he didnt get the goals from Feb onwards but he still outscored our other target man 3 to 1 and that incuded going 4 months without a goal ! He laid on both the goals against Cheltenham in the semi's and I don't think there were too many games where he didn't contribute anything , unlike others.
I know he's gone and we move on , but for people to blame Bayo for us not going up is simply not true , he's a big man and it will take another big man to replace him.

I love how Jilly Gill knows how much Bayo was earning Roll Eyes Funny how the disgraceful decision to axe Guttridge for two months isn't held up as a reason for our failings. I should imagine Jilly is about ten years old, otherwise she might realise just how successful Bayo was for us, especially when compared to most who have come before.
Still, I wait with bated breath to see who AB brings in for our forward line Undecided

Better still, why not do a comparison on a goals to games ratio of their time in a Cobblers shirt Shocked

It's amazing though really, because so many of these experts on here reckon he is only a division 4 player at best, and yet Gillingham...?

I realise all of that, had a great start to the season, I just don't live in the past. You gonna have to trust me on the money thing. And didn't we have a good run without gutsy in the team, without looking but it was that run which put us in the frame. Can't be that disgraceful.

Over the same period assists were 3-1 to Bayo, of which two were in each of the play-off semi's and during a period when Bayo played twice as many minutes on the field of play as Platt who was also carrying an injury/disability that was not self inflicted.
I have used this period because I think that the majority, me included, do not dispute his previous stats when he was fit and not overweight.
If he had kept that up there wouldn't have been a problem and, as someone else has said, he would probably still be with the club.  Wink

Stop living in the past, we know and acknowledge what Bayo has done previously in a Cobblers shirt (before Jan 2013), but ADB is working in the present and for the future of which Bayo could have still been part of.  Roll Eyes
If we had your thinking we would have Large and Fairbrother lining up for us next season because they did well previously in a Cobblers shirt.  Tongue Wink

Deepcut hits nail on head...

I've said before, I love Bayo. My robustly built cat is named
after him and follows Larry. Parish and Atkins in the Drillers pets all of fame. BUT it was time
for the relationship to end. The marriage had run its cause.A

I agree, and have previously stated that Bayo 'post January' harmed his own cause. My response was more inclined towards the nonsense jgill and a few others have posted, as they seem to have forgotten just what a massive player he has been for us! No pun intended Grin

Well just to clarify my position I do recognise his quite staggering goal ratio and cult good feel factor for the club. His legacy remains in those statistics.
I will say this though the sorry part of this story lies mostly with himself, with ambition and determination I'm pretty sure he could have played at a much higher standard.

Lol can I just point out I'm on my mobile, I do realise the amount of typos so stay cool grammar ****s!!! Also, I'm driving, so I need to take my eyes off the phone now and again. Whoops, just dropped the pie I was eating from my other hand. Still, I know that none of this excuses the stupidity of my posts.

Well said '76!

Well...as long as he hasn't become too big for his boots more recently. Don't like the videos he did. He'll have to work very hard to get in at Gills. But still like him!
