And I'd argue that Collins is a better CB than Carlisle, who we may replace with Amankwaah at RB.
Looking more likely that it'll be a loanee striker I feel.
In many ways your probably correct but he lacks CC presence and leadership as a player. I can vividly remember CC performances 2011/2012 season when things were looking bleak; Chelts,Burton etc. He had his off days but his performances when on song where at least to me memorable.

Decent display from Amankwaah tonight, definitely missed him when he was subbed and the Corby left winger had young Connor Roberts on toast. Would be big improvement on Johnson and even Tozer as a right back.
Pleased that JJ Hooper has signed.

why did you chose to ignore Robinson, turnbull, nana, and higgs who were clearly dead wood
Duke is an adequate replacement for Nicholls. .. His experiance will be valuable
Yes those were dead wood, although I wouldn't tar Higgs with that particular brush. But my point was, that of those first team players I mentioned how many have been replaced? And Duke isn't as good as Nicholls either.

I rate Collins, although I still think that as it stands we'd miss Carlisle's calming experience at the back. But, again, my response was about replacements, of which Collins isn't one

well its seems purse maybe going Portsmouth , i would have liked to have seen him sign for a year , i still think we are quite strong in defense as is so not overly worried , we are desperate for a decent forward as everyone's been saying hoping that carter and morris can do a job in the middle and hackett on the right , who,s going left ? demon is shi*e his good games are to few and far between , i fear roy will be dragged out wide and that leaves a problem upfront
as much as people have been saying we have got rid of the dead wood , we now cannot afford any injuries ,in some positions we will struggle so i think we are in a worse position atm
it does concern me that this close to the season and we have no idea who are starting 11 is
i really hope there is a plan and they have a couple of decent players lined up or it will be us floundering untill january at which point DC will put his hand in his pocket and it maybe to late to mount any kind of charge , or it maybe as i thought DC has written this season off to pursue the off field side of things
who knows and over this week we shall find out , but if it ends up with us signing another over the hill journeyman with a poor record or a young unheard of loanee ill know what ill be thinking

Don't forget Langmead and Hackett will both miss the start of the season through injury. As may Platt and O'Donovan. As things stand we are really stretched, and I can only hope we receive some good news in the next few days.

No news is good news remember. Its clear JJ is a bench striker and I feel sorry for AB because no matter what striker we will sign, he will get slated. In AB we trust.

In AB we trust. sometimes no news does mean no news i think jj will be decent enough off the bench but at present we have no fit forwards ( poss roy ) i think the attitude of wait and see or play the waiting game this close to the season start is risky to the extreme i suppose it will be wait and see but if nothing happens and we lose the first couple they will call for his head

Makes you wonder why we have a "fitness" coach and what he does with them doesn't it... In ADB I certainly do not trust, and I predict now he won't last the season out.

I think where the club has been poor on the marketing side is the fact that no statement has been made re a main striker. All they need to say is 'we plan to sign a 1st team striker at the end of July'. No names required, if loan or permanent not required, just a statement to curtail the silly panic and speculation!

But he said that he was looking for a new striker in is post-match interview. What more do you want?
Aidy has my complete and utter unwavering faith for this year. He earnt that much in the last one.

in your opinion Nicholls is better than Duke, in mine they are about equal and Duke brings valuable experience We are about 3 shorts of matching last seasons squad for numbers ..... that will be resolved in the next few days There are lots if talks ongoing so I wouldnt be worried

11/12 - bottom to safety 12/13 - 6th and play off final 13/14 - ??
I do find it strange and rather in comforting that many of the posters on this site are having a go at Aidy before a ball is even kicked? Surely he deserves our unified respect and support in return for what he has achieved during the last 18 months? We are not a big budget team like we were in the Calderwood years and that is not Aidy's fault?!
From where I'm standing it looks as if he is managing a situation with one of his hands tied behind his back. He is working to a strict budget and as such cannot go around offering big contracts that are snapped up by players whose agents are simply trying to get the most wages for. Hence the delay in players committing. It will no doubt mean that targets are missed and they go elsewhere but somehow he has to assemble a squad 'big enough' to provide a decent level of competition and cover injuries and suspensions. The only player he has ever signed on suspecting big money and a lengthy contract is/was Platt...

No supporter in his right mind should be criticising AB. We all have our views on certain players like Demontagnac & Platt but overall he has done a great job and long may that continue. Budget cuts are not the fault of the manager & I am sure he is as frustrated as the rest of us at, as Drilling comments, having one hand tied behind his back.

In which case why did Cardoza state we would have 3 or 4 exciting signings, do DC and Aidy not discuss matters as important as this?
You can't be satisfied with the situation and its a false economy, lose at York ( which is looking increasingly likely ) and you can take a few hundred of the 1st home game, in at York and you can probably add a few hundred. Looks to me as if we will be tuning up wih a team that hasn't yet played together!

If the sun of summer returns, that could also take a couple of hundred off as well.
