picked up a knock in pre season ... being managed with York in mind .... it happens get over it

So you are saying he's likely to go into the first game, on a bone hard pitch, and without having hardly kicked a ball in pre-season. And that's fine with you, is it? Roll Eyes

2 new wingers not required? Well Hackett is injured and our other is Demon... You want to say again we don't need backup on the flanks?

I clearly stated that Amankwaah and Deegan hadn't signed yet, but pointed to the fact that besides a striker, we have these two very good trialists in positions we all feel need improvement and at least one of those we are in discussions with.

CC may have been first choice anyway, but that doesn't change the fact that Artell was doing well until he got injured and only then did we look to bring CC back in as cover!

We are short a striker until January, when Nicholls is back and hopefully fit and firing!

As the saying goes, "If you haven't got anything positive to say... **** off!"

hackett missed 2 weeks.............other than that............widdowson, demon, morris, toney, moyo, ROD................is that enough cover.

if your right back and deegan dont sign - what do we do then - dream up some other fantasy players who could fit in the team..............

artell was a liability, got injured, then wasnt good enough to play once fit.

basing the 2nd half of the season on a striker who hasnt kicked a ball in anger in over a year is a massive long shot.

that isnt a saying................and your "positive" post merely paints over the cracks..............you are essentially saying that if 4 players who arent ours sign, and a crippled striker comes back and is amazing we will be okay.

its a long shot.

That wasn't the point that the poster was making. Straw man argument.

I personally think we are two players away from being a solid, competitive squad.

Kevin Amankwaah/right back. If we could get a right back in, we'd be perfectly well covered in defence for me, especially with the emergence of Connor Roberts, we have enough strength in depth and we can always utilise the loan system if needed later in the season.

Striker. This is obviously the big one and it's been done to the death in this thread, but I still think we'll get a decent player in. I can see why fans are panicking and criticising because it's a big position on the pitch, strikers get you promoted, but I still feel a bit of patience is needed.

Are you a weather man Huh?

Just because he isn't playing at "Corby" doesn't mean he isn't fit, it means he is being managed to be fit for York.

Unless you want him to play against P'Boro and then Corby and make his injury worse.

So what I am saying is .... don't play a player who has a strain that could turn in to a tear if not managed properly.

Really Jollies you fell into that one - in any case York is normally flooded in August!

We'll still be a striker short if/when Nicholls is back. We need a forward with a physical presence, unless you have some warped idea that 2 short arses can work in league 2, especially with our managers chosen "style".

Pitch at York is hardly likely to be bone hard. Clubs water the pitch everyday this time of the year. Roll Eyes

Since McSheffrey is not wanted by Cov why not do a tweak with the CCFC rent, sign him on a season's loan and pay our part of his wages from the rental.

He'd be great but the priority has got to be a goalscorer

Does Alfred?  Roll Eyes

As it stands, Langmead, hackett, Roy O' and Platt are all unlikely to start the season. Whilst positions can be covered across the squad, the fact remains we are woefully short in the striking department. True?
