If the first 10 results go badly next season the knives will be poised over AB's back, front and head
I find even the very possibility of this happening frankly bonkers.

Expect us to be top 7 again and hope for top 3. It seems to me there are no real stand out teams and big money spenders in league 2 next season, pompey are a massive club still with money issues and of the rest who came down, only think skunny will be a threat, they have a knack of bouncing straight back up.

Financially, Fleetwood seem to be the ones giving it the big "I am" at the moment, I'd expect them to give it a go this season. I also think that Chesterfield are good for one of the automatic spots.
However, none of the teams who came down (or up) fill me with too much dread, and I'd fully expect us to be top 7 again next season at least, as long as we have a good summer.
I just have sneaky suspicion that we may be going to Wembley again...

I hope we get promoted automatically, I expect to finish in the play-offs...but I'll not be calling for Aidy's head if we just miss out, continuity is a good thing. I want to see the squad developed and wouldn't say 'no' to a couple of Premiership scalps in cup competitions.

I hope we play the same attacking brand of football as we did in 86/87, score 103 goals and get 99 point and be promoted as champions but I expect much of the same, maybe just squeezing into the top 7. Much depends on the quality of the five or six players Aidy must bring in and even then we will need luck on our side. I hope for a mainly injury-free season.

Expecting and hoping just drives you to despair, season after season. If none of us expects and hopes for anything other than avoidance of relegation then success will hi-jack us while we wallow in acceptance of the mundane!

Good post this, being able to see reality is not every body's reasoning.

I think that the terrible run of injuries we had in the September-November period last season was far more costly for us in terms of our automatic promotion prospects than anything else.
If we can avoid a similar occurrence this coming season, we should be better off at the end of it.

Currently - mid table. Whether I change that thought depends on the players we bring in.

Midtable..last season was supposed to be our time. We'll take a couple more seasons before we're fighting for promotion again, especially with key players leaving.

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

Sounds like someone hasn't got over their Wembley disappointment yet I'm mostly over it except I'm still disappointed by the way the team and Boothy bombed it. We had 3rd place in our control and blew it, then at Wembley we played like total wankers. On my second to last day there I head to the cobblers shop to pick up some Cobblers stuff and Boothy/players don't even say Hello even after I told them I flew all the way from the US for the game. No free stickers or anything..f**k um won't be flying back for them anytime soon and I'm done with Cobblers World too.

I hope that a rich benefactor or Euromillions winner turns up at the Sixfields door and takes over the club. I think this would rank as the next to last thing I would ever hope for. Benefactors arrive at clubs because they want to milk the supporters of money or have it as a vanity project. How many examples exist of clubs thriving after they leave? I'm pushed to think of any. When they do go you are invariably left with a bunch of over-rated players being paid far too much money. What is the point in ever existing outside of your income level? If you desire success for the club then it can only come from developing the revenue streams coming into the club, having continuity in management and a good youth set-up developing quality local talent. This is a community club and long may it be so, the day that stops is the day its soul gets trampled and pissed on.

I would hope for;
A midfielder with determination to win the ball come hell or high water. To beat Oxford home and away. To travel to away games expecting three points. A Saturday by the sea in August or September. A less cold winter than last season.
I expect to de disappointed.

Now that's not on if they didn't even acknowledge you. I know it's a phrase that's often plagiarised by others but I am getting a bad feeling about that. Seriously, that's outrageous.
