Not the most ideal place for a big f*** off supermarket.
I'd suggest they turn it into a big f*** off indoor Paintballing site.

Or a postal sorting office? Are you mad? That would never work in that location.

I see that Richard Church and his merry band of robbers are once again on the march. After the fiasco of the broken water main masquerading as a fountain on the Market Square, the cost of which is now heading north of £250k, the Chron reveals today that the lighting scheme for the square is now going to cost not £250k but £458k. And you can bet by the time it has finished it will be well over that budget too. The serial incompetence demonstrated by Church and his profligate Libs - and frankly the parties are all as bad - in cahoots with WNDC dispensing the taxpayers money as if they created it, seemingly has no end. The County Council is now planning to spend close to £7m on a car pool lane for the Bedford Road roundabout - why? I wouldn't normally support spending public funds on private sporting stadia such as Frankins Gardens or Sixfields, but against this backdrop or moronic waste, all this money would have been far better spent expanding both the grounds,, a move which I'm sure the vast majority of town and county taxpayers would have supported and it could have been the catalyst for civiic pride and regeneration as has been witnessed in Blackpool.
If TCexMP was to start a Town and County party to fight the local elections, evict the charlatans that are running the show now, and hand power back to the people of this county I'd be the first to join. I've had enough of these other buggers.

Couldn't agree more! I happen to wander past the 'fountain', which has the appearance of a burst water main, and it was awash with giggling scummy chavs and their undisciplined sprogs washing their lice infested torsos.Well, at least Northampton's underclass are getting a wash. Bring back the Slipper baths!

I agree Insider that those two criminal examples of wasting money are a shambles, and the money would far better have been spent on almost anything else, let alone something productive such as helping the development of Sixfields and Franklin's Gardens.
However, the money is not the issue and/or the reasoning for the rejection of the developments. I have to confess I know more about th Saints plans than our own, and I know and it well publisised that they are not planning to use public money for their development, it is purely being funded by themselves/ASDA. It is this insistence on the no development outside of the town centre which is causing the problems. It is plain stupid, I had the misfourtune of being in the town centre yesterday and the place is a dive. The only way it could ever improvve in my opinion, is if the Grosvner Centre was knocked down and started again with the homeless shelter that tries to be a bus station. But this won't happen, so i really do think the council should open their eyes to the benefits of competitive football and rugby grounds.

Blackpool is deffo the best example of what a proactive council can do for a town.In my 6years up here there have been massive changes to the place and more to come.I for one dont miss living in Northampton, only downside living up here is the driving 6hrs there and back every weekend!
