Deserves it's own thread.....

http://twitter.com/JeffersonLake

More than likely, someone we "nearly" bought in the last window but fell through at the last minute!

If it is a new striker, could it be perhaps Zola on loan (he turned Shrewsbury down) and we have agreed a fee to make the transfer permanent in January?

It says' massive news, so heres hoping  Smiley

How can we buy/sell a player involving cash outside of the transfer window?

I'm thinking it'll either be us getting a substantial chunk of compensation for Guinan going to Hereford as manager, or Sammo has been given some of the Cup money to get a striker and has identified a target.

"@ChronandEcho apparently a baby swan has just crashed into a tea room window in st giles street...if anyone is nearby give us a call to confirm! 467030 ta"

Prehaps the swan had heard the news of our impending deal involving Cash and a striker  Grin

93 day (max) loan which takes us into January when the window opens again, then the loan becomes a permanent signing.

MASSIVE news involving a STRIKER and CASH.

Steve Guinan's got a pay rise??

Everyone know's this club doesn't do massive news. Or cash. Or strikers.

Just had this reply from Jefferson Lake

@JeffersonLake is it worth getting excited about then?

@Iest_ntfc it will be if they pull it off but if not then at least it 'shows willing'

So what should we make of that? Where's all the people in the "know" then?

After all the previous striker let downs, i can't help thinking we'll be left dissapointed yet again......

Massive news eh.....Perhaps we offered Stevie Howard the chance to finish his career with us? He declined but at least we tried!

Sounds like another Simon Cox affair. We 'try' and buy a striker we realistically have no hope of getting to show the fans some sign of 'ambition'.

Hope I'm proved wrong.

He also said giving us the player's initials would "give the game away". Darius Vassell, perhaps?

Zola or Howard would excite me.....Vassell (targetman!) would not.

I don't disagree. He's in the washed-up category and probably would be a lazy bastard just going through the paces and picking up his cheque at the end of the month, as so many players are when they drop down to this level at that stage of their career.

Was just giving him as an example of an available big-name player with unusual initials. Grin

Why do us fans put ourselves through this torture?! We all know nothing will probably happen (as always) else the club would have wrapped up the signing before it was leaked to the press  Undecided

Maybe the news will be we've sold al our strikers for cash? The cash however is about £50, a bad of M&Ms and a few claret seats to replace the broken ones

DG has just said on Radio Northampton that they are 'in pursuit' of Calvin Zola (along with many clubs) but a permanent deal would be January, with a fee.
Two other players are being spoken too with one possibly concluding this week.

We live in hope for a striker!

Nut's Zola campaign is becoming tedious.  Zola is apparently already one of the highest paid players in this division, is demanding more money to move and has already turned down a move to at least 4 other clubs in this division, including Shrewsbury who are the biggest paying club in Div 2 right now, and who did offer more to Zola than he's earning now.  So give me one reason why he'd move here or why DC would bust the wage structure to fund it.
