People need to remember the club never made these claims, it was a journo based on what he heard

There are direct quotes from the Chairman Tyler.

Can we at least let it pan out to an actual conclusion before you start slitting your wrists. Miserable sods, at least we're looking at players..and players who would command a fee.

It has been concluded. We failed to get him! Yet again the Club announce a player we missed out on. The Club even said last time they would not go public until the player had signed on Again i ask.....what was the MASSIVE news?

So over what week of the summer would Zola have been 2-3 days away from signing?

Someone seems to be talking bulls*** over this deal...and I'm not going to point the finger. But...DC has said that Zola didn't want to move until January. That's not what Zola told Southend, Bradford, Burton Albion and Shrewsbury or the press. What he said, and there are dozens of his quotes out there, was that he would only go out on loan if it also included a permanent move in January. Gradi has confirkmed that Zola spoke to all of these clubs and added that he didn't want to move away from Merseyside. Gradi publicly added that he wanted to recoup a chunk of the £200k fee he paid for him and that only one club in this division could afford him. Given all that, there would have been more credence in leaking a story to the press that we were after Adebayor. You know what they say in journalism, never let the truth stand in the way of a good story!

Especially when the commander-in-chief tells you that reinforcements are on their way in the full knowledge that they ain't! A bit like when he promised to rebuild the quarters....

Do people realise that Jeff Lake isn't part of ntfc? The club never claimed to have massive news. This thread only exists because of something a local journalist said, yet people are complaining that the club have failed them in some way.
Blame Jefferson Lake if you you feel you were mislead.

Jefferon Lake's job is to sell newspapers. He put the spin on it. But the story wasn't a figment of his imagination: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/12102010/63/cobblers-failed-calvin-coup-cardoza.htmlIMHO it's proven to be a rather handy distraction.

I was replying purely to those asking what the MASSIVE news is, and the others who feel let down. The only reason people are asking the question and feeling that way is 'cos of Lake's tweet yesterday.
Jefferson was doing his job (as you quite rightly state), and a few on here got their hopes up. Who's to blame for that? Certainly not the club.
As for the story being a welcome distraction, well, can't argue with that.
