I sent an e mail to the chairman yesterday begging him to provide the funds for a decent striker....or to make ADB aware of his desire to act with this regard.
His reply was succinct, polite as always and assuring. It was a private exchange, but you can read between the lines.

To read between the lines you must first have lines to read between.

I had an interesting chat with him in the bogs the other day, can't remember whether he thought he was pissing money down the drain or settling in for the post-curry longhaul though.

Unbelievably similar...feel for Aidy Boothroyd tbh, both here and the similar circumstances at Watford. Nevertheless, an air of inevitability seems to be erm...in the air!

In 2003/4 when Wilkinson was sacked - this was after 10 league games - we had 13 points.
In those games we lost to Torquay (h) and York (a).
Pretty sure that Atkins, Wilson also fell at the ten game mark.
Gray was fired after just 6 games (7 points).
Given we currenly have just 5 points - the other managers all got sacked for less. I am not sure if DC will press the button as quickly this time. However, if we lose to Wimbledon and Chris Arthur runs riot I will not be able to stop myself - going bonkers. It also is not the best place to go given then away bench is within earshot of the away fans.

I agree, I too can see remarkable similarities happening. That was a scary read. 6 points out of the next 6 games is unfortunately not out of the realms of possibility.

Frederick Ingram "Fanny" Walden (1 March 1888 – 3 May 1949) was an English professional footballer who played on the right-wing for Northampton Town, Tottenham Hotspur and at international level for England during the 1910s and 1920s.

Regardless of the medium, be it this site, the comments on the Chron, the texts into Radio Northampton after the game yesterday, or the views of fans on the West Stand concourse or down the local pub, it seems to me that sentiment has shifted in the past week or two against ADB. He is probably now on borrowed time: DC's programme notes while ostensibly directed at the players must also be seen as a warning to the manager. It's now up to those players, Boothroyd's signings, to show some loyalty and commitment to the man who put his faith in them, and surprise us by coming with a couple of points from the next two away games. Duke, Doumbe and Reid are backbone signings, but they should have been in place in pre-season, and in future might be looked on as having arrived too late. But it's that midfield and the forwards who now owe their boss a performance. I rather doubt they have either the quality or the fight.

I've lost count of the amount of managers that assemble a side... Fail with it... Only to see it go onto success under another manager.
That might be the case here. But either AB admits his errors to DC and asks for the opportunity to get in a couple of additions. Or the writing is on the wall.
The way I read his reply mate....he is TELLING him to buy a striker.

Jesus wouldn't make this side a success. It needs additions. Which is why I'd rather Aidy stay and sort it out. In the past, we have had a good squads underperforming, like the one when Atkins took us back down and more recently when Wilkinson went on his spending spree. The issue is whether or not you trust Aidy to bring in the right players to sort it. Ive seen on numerous occasions that AB has a good eye for a player; it's just unfortunate that since Wembley he's brought in a handful of duds!
