I got excited watching Engalnd for the first time when we played at a high tempo with the kids against Equador but unfortunately we'll be back to safety first against Italy tonight. Pass slowly backwards and sideways to each other from the back until we lose it when we try anything more adventurous.

That's one of the best England performances I've seen for a long time. Deserved a draw. All is not lost yet.

The only criticism I could make would be that the players visibly tired towards the end which is the fault of poor preparation by the coach for not getting them acclimatised properly.

Nail on the head there then!

Or more because they played at a blistering pace in such conditions for 70 mins...not getting them acclimatised properly is as wide of the mark as the previous post!

Completely agree with this, we did play some good football.

I thought they played one of the best games I've seen in a long time and I'm in no way knocking the players, but I still feel they could have done with more time training in the heat. My big concern is what happens if we go into extra time in the elimination phase.

I thought we got dominated yesterday. Crap shooting, crap defending Italy passed us off the park they could have had 3 or 4 We're fooked. Its now a must win against Suarez and Uruguay..no chance.
I had a very good feeling before the game now I have a very bad feeling..

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

Own goals don't count in the "First Goalscorer" or "anytime scorer" markets. It's the same if you select "no goalscorer", but the game finishes 1-0 with an own goal, you still get paid out. - Not sure why, as you think it would be the obvious way for bookies to take even more of our cash!

England should get rid of Uruguay easily, no real danger. Italy is and always ways a tough enemy so its no shame to loose against them.

Fair play to Uruguay. I will however take issue with the Scotland fans in the crowd going mad when Uruguay scored. I spotted 4 but suspect there were more. Complete c***s!

I suppose if you are no good at football and nobody can understand the words coming out of your mouth (take note BBC) and all you have going for you is the black treacly stuff under the North sea then you're bound to be jealous.

After a good performance against Italy I thought we were poor against Uruguay. For me switching Rooney & Sturridge made the team as a whole play worse, especially Stirling, Welbeck & Sturridge, but so long as it means Rooney plays better I guess that's all that counts!.

Not good performances from the back two (Cahill and Jags) and the midfield two (StevieG and Hendo) which would and did have a detrimental effect on the rest of the team performance. I thought that Rooney, Sturridge and Welbeck did OK. Their skipper should have been sent off for two yellows and the Spanish official appeared a bit more lenient towards the Uruguayans than us throughout. Unfortunately we don't do diving and conning the official very well....
