As some of you may have heard, there are 192 Quangos being scrapped, and one of these is the West Northants Development Company, one of the primary groups responsible for the 'stuff everything outside the town centre' policy. Hopefully, the abolishment of this quango may result in a different attitude by Council.

WNDC were more likely to look more favourably on Cobblers and Saints getting some retail on their leased land than NBC ever will be; however, both bodies are a complete waste of time especially as far as sport in this town is concerned.

The only advice can be for those with the vote in Northampton is vote Tory at next year's local elections and this from someone who has never voted Tory in his life. Maybe I am being naive but the Tories have said they will reverse the LibDem town centre first (only?) policy but then again who can trust a politician?

It's all very well venerating the Tories, but if you remember back to what we thought was the vital and important open meeting at Sixfields a few years ago, their leader of the time was the one who made vague promises then later stuffed us. I was told he also had an interest in the financial success of Sainsburys.
All 3 of the main parties have, in their time, had a dismissive and illogical attitude toward the club's aspirations. How gullible we all were for thinking it was the wider community that they chose to represent rather than their personal interests and internal political aspirations!
I don't trust any of them any more, and my full opinion of Northampton's local politics is probably unprintable.
It's Legal and General who run this town, followed closely by those who have serious vested interests.

I agree with Steve Riches that all the parties have been awful over a long period of time so far as Northampton sport is concerned. They are a disgrace. I share his deep cynicism on the subject. But from a Cobblers perspective is there a rational alternative to voting Conservative this time round unless the club puts up candidates in large number of wards?!!
