2 grand a week would afford us Michael Jacobs. Not that he's going to step back down to this level.
In all honesty that 87k would get us Louis Moult as a push. Edit that Brett Williams is scoring goals a league below. Always thought he was alright.

You lot are crazy if you think a) £67,500 will allow us to pay for then pay a decent striker and b) That the money will be lumped into improving the s***e squad rather than make up for the shortfalls in other areas

Quite agree - wait for Blyth to be fit but get a decent Midfielder in. But if Platt is not fit for Plymouth , Norris CupTied and Dallas no longer available then we are in a pickle.

Correct me if i'm wrong.....but being as we didn't sign Blyth in the transfer window on a half-season or a season-long loan (what is known as a "standard loan") then he can only be what is termed an "emergency loan", for a maximum of 93 days. (Football League rule 53.3.14).
He joined us on 9th August and was returned to Leicester on 3rd October. Therefore I make it that he has had 55 of the 93 days allowed. And as such can return for 38 days.
A lot of hype and pinning our hopes on someone who can only come back for 5 and a half weeks! (Unless we turn the loan into a permanent transfer!)
Football League Loan Regulations 53.3.14 The cumulative total number of days of all Emergency Loans of one Player to the same Club may not exceed 93 days (unless extended by the Executive in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 53.3.12).

Only a few idiots are saying this. He was only released from his Wolves contract because he was so badly injured and hardly justified his 30k salary. Once he's fit he'll obviously be playing for a decent Championship side. Maybe we should sign Helguson or put a cheeky 100k bid in for Berahino?

Please tell me your joking about the Berahino thing? 1, He would be worth more then 100k 2, He has been scoring in the premiership 3, Arsenal are reportedly interested in him Ridicoulous comment, however I agree with what your saying about Ebanks Blake

Most of our fans don't have a f***ing clue.

Spend it on a striker? We have loaned in a couple of decent strikers who have still failed to have any more attempts or success than before. Norris' goal was created by his hassling of the defenders and making the most of their mistake (well taken though). The problem as I see it is the midfielders who provide the protection for the defence and ammunition for any striker we have. Against Cheltnum, aside from their inability to retain the ball and subsequently regain the ball once lost, it struck me how static the midfield was. No movement off the ball, no providing angles or options for the player in possession and the final ball(s) to the players in offensive positions was normally adrift or not even in an area where it could be recovered to still create the chance. The midfield needs to perform and be better before we waste money on a striker who, without the ammunition, will have the same success that our current mix have!
The player we are missing most this season is Guttridge.
Hallefcukinllujah (sp) someone with a bit of sense, first time id been to watch the cobblers for some time v cheltnum and I was saying the very same thing DC.Our midfield has frustrated me for ages in the fact that we never seem to have any runners from there,no one getting in front of the strikers taking a gamble from a flick on.Imo any half decent striker will score goals if they have the ammunition.

The bizarre interest by Reading back in 2011 probably did more damage to Brett Williams' career than good. There was no reason to assume he was good enough for the Championship and I guess Reading eventually realised that by never actually playing him. He seems to be a good lower league striker despite his poor goal ratio when he was with us, he must have been one of AB's earliest loan signings. I'd take him back, he should get another shot at the league.

Ditto some of the previous comments.
Yes, we are criminally lacking up front but what has become equally apparent is we're lacking in the supply lines too. Hackett seems to have his head somewhere else and I don't think we can rely on the three musketeers (Avamiss, Porkos and Adeadloss) to provide too many openings either.
So far from a new striker solving any problems, we probably need at least two in midfield too!
