I certainly don't see King as the long term answer, but I suppose he could prove the 'safe pair of hands' which we need to secure survival.
DC should give them the next two or three games to stake a claim (assuming he wants it). We'll soon see if the players are playing for him and if he can make any sort of genuine tactical and motivational difference.
Above all, now is not the time to experiment or to go with inexperience. I'd like to see us go for someone like Brady or Wilkin eventually, but not until the summer. It would be too much to expect a non-league manager to come in and adjust immediately to the rigours of a L2 relegation scrap.
We need someone with lower league experience and a proven track record in building mean defences and grinding out results at this level.
Going by those criteria, I wouldn't actually be massively averse to appointing Allen with the important caveat that it would have to be a short term contract till the end of the season.
For all his well-documented faults, he does have a proven track record for getting teams out of trouble and building stubborn defences at this level - something which is conspicuously absent from the CVs of other candidates.

What about a return for Colin Calderwood?
I know DC rates him as his best ever appointment & I believe he went for the Chesterfield job when assistant at Newcastle.
No idea if he's looking for a return to the hot seat or if he's happy at Norwich...

Certain people (one in particular! ) would struggle to believe this...but I would definitely be in favour of Colin being brought back until the end of the season. Whilst I hated his boring negative tactics, the guys professional and will instantly gain the respect of the players. If theres anybody who could come in and steady the ship until the end of the season without necessarily making wholesale and expensive changes to the playing side, then Colins your man!

Completely agree!
It would be refreshing to see us actually try and poach a manager who is doing well somewhere else for a change rather than just searching through Job Centre adverts for the same old out of work names.
I'd like to see Micky Mellon (Gateshead), Brady or Wilkin given a chance with a VERY experienced DOF. From watching both Brackley and Nuneaton a few times I've been impressed with the way they are performing with very limited budgets which would suggest the respective managers are good at the tactics / man management side of the game.
If we managed to appoint a well known and experienced weller / dealer type of DOF we should ensure the contacts are taken care off.
The above would ovviously cost the club a few quid, which I think stopped this happening before?
Please not Mellon. Fleetwood went up in spite of rather than because of him. He had a mega budget, that's why Fleetwood went up and having watched them many times during that promotion season, I'd say he makes ADB look like a tactical genius...

I would welcome calderwood back but it's highly unlikely he will return. He was one of the only managers that installed a certain professionalism here.

For goodness sake Doc we are NOT going down you heard it here 1st (I damn well hope that does not come back to haunt me)

This gets quoted a lot but what does it even mean? What was unprofessional about how Aidy ran the club other than poor results? It took Calderwood longer than it should have to get that squad out of this divison. He won't have that budget here again, and he's acheived absolutely nothing since leaving us.

Training sounds more unprofessional. Also, playing unfit Langmead and Platt in the playoffs were unprofessional in my eyes.

I would argue that Aidy was a little too professional and not flexible enough in other areas.

While cc was here we hardly had any bookings and held onto a lead. How many games did we throw away in the last 5 mins under ab. We never had any mental toughness.
