So what exactly is Cardoza supposed to do following dwindling attendances again? Will this galvanize him to pull out millions in loans so he can bankrupt himself on a football team for a town with less than 2% of it's population turning up to games? Or does he just do exactly what he did last time we lost attendances and just cut the budget again? At least we have players who can pull some pieces of technical skill our of their arses like Thornton and Jacobs. You can wave goodbye to that if we end up with Macclesfield type attendances.
We took more than 2000 to oxford not that long ago. Today's away attendance is going to be embarassing in comparison probably.

If a shop loses customers and wants to keep in business, it changes something. The manager, the stock, even the price it charges, all in an attempt to get those customers back. Unfortunately for shops, they rarely find customers who are prepared to pay good money for stock clearly not worth the price.

Well I think the club needs the support so I will be going - as its a short hop I am opting for the drive as opposed to trust travel esp as my other son wants to come along.
Let's hope we respond today to last week's dissapointment

It looks set for a cagey draw.
Well that theory didn't take long to be blown out of the water!

Did you go to the game last Saturday? If you did, the one thing you can be sure of is this will not be a cagey draw, I don't think we are capable of playing that sort of game. McKenzie will be all out to prove the first half last Saturday wasn't a fluke, meanwhile we haven't a single recognised centre-back available and our defence is shocking to the say the very least. I fear for us, I really do, lets all hope I've got this one wrong.
Hey, cricketside was right, I wasn't wrong.

I don't think the shop/customer analogy holds up here. Whatever you are buying in the 'real world', if you aren't happy with the quality or the price of goods or the level of service you can go somewhere else. This is easy because you have no emotional investment in Tesco or Sainsbury; you just buy your tin of baked beans from wherever is cheaper or easier. With the greatest of respect to any Tesco managers who might happen to read this, I really don't care if the manager of my local branch gets the sack. With NTFC I do. If we were to go to the wall, I can honestly say I wouldn't start supporting another team and no matter how low we sink, in performances or league (or god forbid non-league) position I'll still be there following them through thick and thin. Does this make me a mug, an addict or an idiot? * Probably, but I prefer to encapsulate the three words as one - a 'supporter'. I think a better analogy of our dwindling support might be this: your wife gets struck down with a debilitating illness so you abandon them. Pragmatically speaking it makes sense, but does that make you a canny operator or simply something else beginning with a 'c'? * feel free to use that in a quote, Marvo.

Of course the analogy works, i got pissed off with the product on offer so i tried another product, just a different type.

Groves right. You'll find "The Cobblers" in the entertainments aisle, along with dozens of other attractions trying you to tempt you to part with your money.
It doesn't have to be another team (MK Dons), or even another sports team (Saints), it could just be the pictures, ten pin bowling, etc, even shopping with the wife.

I'm sure David Cardoza is truly open to all who write to him with workable suggestions as to how he can improve our parlous league position. His address is easily found.

... even shopping with the wife.
I'd rather travel 280 miles to watch the Cobblers in the UCL than go shopping with the wife. Apparently the Cobblers are fully aware of this.

Then so be it. It's up to them really, isn't it? It's just symptomatic of the general level of apathy and finger pointing that's endemic in today's society as a whole.

The fans have a voice. The message some of you are giving out loud and clear is
"Hey, do what you want with my club, play as sh*te as you like, lose a 3-0 lead to the bottom club in the football league, get us relegated into the Conference. Don't worry, I'll keep paying my money and turning up every week".
Cardoza must love you all.
Not sitting on the fence here..but do see both sides of the story: Marvo (imo) is correct of course, that as fans, we have an opinion..positive or otherwise..and the thread/site is meant for such purpose. However, do also agree to a large degree with Vintage. Banging on in a 'almost boastful' way about NOT going..serving up excuses or otherwise as 20 quid plus food..more like 80 sheets I'd say ..drivel on the pitch etc, etc. WE are Northampton Town..far more so than any player on the pitch..here today..gone tomorrow (not so in Guinan's case unfortunately).. embarrasing themselves or embarrasing us as one vital cog in Northampton Town's machinery..how much you follow that line determines surely, how much of a fan (fanatic) or fanatical you are. Leeds lost a lot of support in their downward spiral..but also kept legions of fanatical supporters. No medals for boasting no-shows in my book!

I still think it's sad when people give up on the club, but ultimately it's up to them. If you don't want to go any more, don't, but don't claim martyrdom for not going; it's your choice.

Actually got the day off just so I can go to Oxford and you know what, I'm not going to bother. Another humiliating defeat beckons I reckon and I don't want to witness it first hand You can pedantically labour on the word 'boastful' all you like...the above is once again Marvo smugness..if not a boast..and others...I could go..in fact, I could get a stretch limo there and back if I wanted...with smokescreen windows..champers..and the rest...but I'm not going to waste my oh so valuable time on that shower of.....
