Groves right. You'll find "The Cobblers" in the entertainments aisle, along with dozens of other attractions trying you to tempt you to part with your money.
It doesn't have to be another team (MK Dons), or even another sports team (Saints), it could just be the pictures, ten pin bowling, etc, even shopping with the wife.
Since when has shopping with the wife been in the entertainments aisle? If got it down as in the torture and fate worst than death section.

Actually got the day off just so I can go to Oxford and you know what, I'm not going to bother. Another humiliating defeat beckons I reckon and I don't want to witness it first hand
You can pedantically labour on the word 'boastful' all you like...the above is once again Marvo smugness..if not a boast..and others...I could go..in fact, I could get a stretch limo there and back if I wanted...with smokescreen windows..champers..and the rest...but I'm not going to waste my oh so valuable time on that shower of.....
Well I suppose it's in the mind of the one who reads it. It has nothing to do with what you say, I was pointing out that I had booked the day off to go (that was back in August) but after the woeful performance last Saturday could not bring myself to do so. It's a great shame it's come to this but it has become a torturous experience for me, I don't want to go and to be honest when I hear the name "Gilligan" I immediately fear the worst. I'm going Tuesday, I promised the grandson as it's school half-term and the Liverpool performance deserves my further attendance, but do I want to go? No. However Saturday I'm "spare" at work and it's possible I might get a job that takes me past kick-off. There was a time I'd have moved mountains to ensure I'd get there in time but now, well, what will be, will be. Now if all comes across as someone boasting, so be it. You're completely wrong but there's nothing I can do about it.

The 'boasting' certainly isn't a personal jibe at you..though as you asked, I do think the above falls/fell into the category..whichever word is chosen. Others on this site also 'boasting' or appearing smug at giving Torquay a miss in wonderful hindsight...whilst then banging on about who should get tkts first for Anfield...also wrankles to be fair!

Well if you wont take my word for it....... I have to say I think you're only getting upset because you DID go to Torquay and Oxford. We all make our choices in this life, don't blame others if on these occasions they seemingly making the right choice! You'd be smug if you had gone and we had won those two games (and rightly so) and I'm absolutely certain you'd have been on here spouting about it, it's in your persona!

Did I mention that I went to Hartlepool. There weren't many of us don't you know. Makes me hardcore. Not going today mind, because I'm washing my hair.
Is that singular or plural?

To use your words: you're wrong! I'm not in the slightest upset that I went to Oxford or Torquay..and it's certainly not in my persona to spout on, so wrong again! Never have I spouted on about going..certainly never about not going..only reacted to those who have! Also, it's pretty pathetic to travel away on the premise of a win...doubt we'd of taken anyone to Anfield..Ipswich..or anywhere for that matter!

Are you suggesting the decision to go to an away game should be based on the likelihood of a Cobblers win? Also, did you go to Oxford on Saturday?

It's akin to these idiots that say "I'm not going to go to Southend on Saturday, I've been there already". Maybe you have. You've never been to next Saturdays game before though have you and that's the whole point of the trip.

To answer your first question, I went to Liverpool and I'm going to Ipswich tonight. To answer your second question, no.

Speaking as an idiot, let me try to enlighten you. In my line of work, I work two Saturdays out of three. I have annual leave days I can take but these obviously are limited. Therefore I have to be fairly picky on which away games I attend. So, using your own example, I wouldn't use an annual leave day to go to Southend as "I've already been there" several times. Alternatively I have already booked days off for our games at Chesterfield, Burton and Morecambe because (you've guessed it already haven't you?) I haven't been to those grounds. Now sometimes my days off fall on days when the Cobblers are playing away. If it suits, like it did at Torquay, I go to the game. If it doesn't, like Oxford, I don't. It normally boils down to how enthusiastic or optimistic I'm feeling. I've done my stint at going to every game home and away, it's not that important to me anymore.
