Hmmm ... a brief bit of research tells me that Steve Keane is manager of Brunei (stuck onto Malaysia), not Dubai.  Mind you, it's feasible that he would still travel to Dubai for talks and for a medical.  I'd also suggest that the connection wouldn't be through the bloke ****, but Steve Keane himself, who was assistant at Coventry under Coleman.  Either way - it's no importance and I'd be quite happy to see Roy O'D depart.  He never seemed to be a 'Cobbler' at heart.  Which gives me a thought for a different thread ..... how many of the current squad do seem to be 'real Cobblers'?
We're losing more than we're winning. So I'd say they all seem to be real Cobblers

I don't really see how its a good idea to let one of our best players (not that it takes much these days) leave, especially in a position we're light on. In terms of fit strikers, we pretty much are left with an Everton youngster, two of our own and a Newcastle reject who have a total of 0 League goals between them. I'd rather them than Platt any day but it isn't really an ideal situation.

But O'Donovan hasn't been the same since Akinfenwa left so if we're getting anything for him then it would be wise to invest in a replacement.

It releases budget for someone who AK/new boss thinks can do better.

Brunei is quite possibly the least interesting place on the face of the planet - great idea to meet in Dubai so as not to put him off!

O'Donovan on form, and fit, would be be an asset to us as a number 2 support striker, but he's never a number one striker and given that he's probably on mega-bucks it's best for us that he goes and we start with a budget suitable for someone better.

O'Donovan gone with decent replacement - fine. Gone with no replacement - not good.

Probably on big wages along with Platt due to Boothroyds fascination with him. Get him gone and get someone better in

And to think you might be ridiculed by some quarters six months ago if you suggested ROD might not be all that.

Dubai is the natural midway point as its the stop over airport with Brunei Airlines.
I actually found Brunei quite interesting in a way, and its on the same island as Borneo. The Capital, Bandar Seri Bagawan its also a very good "Pointless" answer (I've used it at least 4 times).
It was however mingingly hot/humid so not sure how his Irish blood will deal with the weather.
