I'd rather be shot of both and try and find some players that are fit enough to play a game of football now and again.

I've heard from a usually reliable source that Platt is off to play for Aidys new 5aside team.

It will be 4 a side three times a month if they are relying on Clive.

Can somebody find that thread when Platt had his one good game and people where saying Boothroyd was right all along about him? Sometimes people deserve to be derided.

Do you know what that phrase means?
In common parlance, a devil's advocate is someone who, given a certain argument, takes a position he or she does not necessarily agree with, for the sake of debate. In taking this position, the individual taking on the devil's advocate role seeks to engage others in an argumentative discussion process. The purpose of such process is typically to test the quality of the original argument and identify weaknesses in its structure, and to use such information to either improve or abandon the original, opposing position. It can also refer to someone who takes a stance that is seen as unpopular or unconventional, but is actually another way of arguing a much more conventional stanceAdmittedly from Wiki but as a member of the Hellenic Studies Debating Society I have never been criticised for using the phrase in similar circumstances - however I am happy to subscribe to your version Good Luck

If Platt had a good game I had no problem in mentioning it - didn't happen very often though When he had poor game like he did at Bristol earlier this season then he was criticised. Don't see the point though of raking up former albeit misguided comments - it hardly matters now.

Don't see the point though of raking up former albeit misguided comments - it hardly matters now. It's called mischief. When Platt had his one good game, people (as they so often do) went completely over the top, claiming that Boothroyd was right all along. Be nice to remind people of who they were. Not to worry, I'll find it myself sometime, along with the thread entitled something like "is it too late to make the play-offs" after we won one game.

I've just been told that he may be about to leave the club. No idea if its true or not. Anyone else heard anything? in bold is Shoeys main argument so I used the following as an excuse to request information on Shoeys source: "The purpose of such process is typically to test the quality of the original argument and identify weaknesses in its structure" But the keyword here is "argument" 1. an exchange of diverging or opposite views, typically a heated or angry one. "I've had an argument with my father" or :- 2. a reason or set of reasons given in support of an idea, action or theory. "there is a strong argument for submitting a formal appeal" In debate "argument" is not necessarily an heated exchange I do agree with you that using such a phrase on here is open to misinterpretation and in any case the reasons for using it are suspect. I am happy to withdraw the phrase if it pleases you

Marvo - you are on weak ground here as young or over optimistic supporters will always wish for the impossible - its called hope however misguided. As an experienced Poster you should use your sense of humour and humour them. Your taking it all too seriously.
