Hi everyone, so I've come to your messageboard with a motive and that is to gain a short (recent?) history of the highs and lows you've enjoyed and endured at Sixfields. I'm currently studying at northampton uni doing music production and one of my projects is to create a 'tour' of anywhere in northampton, lasting approximately 15mins. So I've decided as a football fan to create one based within Sixfields stadium using tales of historic matches you've had there, to kind of give a quick history/reminiscing session to those who visit the stadium.
As a Fulham fan I could talk of the historic goals that got us promoted and those that saved us from relegation to seeing us put 4 goals past Juventus in an epic european run. So my thinking is that you guys have the same experiences and historic matches that are legend at the club (the goals that got you to wembley last season etc). Ideally I'd like 10 stories, moments, goals that I can place around the stadium (the tour comes on a gps based app) so some personal perspective mixed with fact is ideal at giving a sense of location to the stories. I'm hoping to go to the game with York this weekend as well to record some crowd noise to mix in with the dialogue and music.
I'm sure you all have tonnes of moments to talk about so I'll pick out the 10 most memorable (should at least 10 of you respond of course!) to put in to the tour. Please don't leave me to rely on wikipedia for this, as a new follower of Northampton who always keeps his eye out for them on Final Score, I would hate to disrespect the legends by giving bulls*** as fact!
Deadline's a couple weeks away so get your stories in pronto! Thanks for your help!

I quite liked the time we beat Kevin Keegans very expensively assembled Fulham side at Sixfields, I think Dean Peer scored! This was when you were in the same leagues as us regularly, just at the start of the Al-Fayed days.

Bristol Rovers at Sixfields for the second leg of the play off semi-final, 3-1 and they fcuked it up!! Best game in the history of the Cobblers for me and one big reason Ian Holloway won't be the next Cobbs manager.

Taking away the fact that he's at Millwall now, if you think a manager won't come here because of a match almost 20 years ago then you really need to get a grip

The low must be the game against Fulham in April 1966.
A real six pointer (well 4 in those days) as both sides were near the bottom. Fulham always were struggling, and we were in our only season at the top.
It was so traumatic that my brain has wiped the details out but we lost 2-4 after being up at least once and scoring a disallowed goal (no goal line technology) which would have made it safe. I think our goalie may have been at fault with one goal.
It was so unjust. Fulham went down the next year anyway (I think): if we had stayed up who knows what might have happened.

Bradley Johnson's injury time winner against Sc***horpe and then getting sent off for the celebration.
Brett Williams winner against Oxford.
Andy Kirk's run and finish against Yeovil.
Chris Doig running to take the stretcher off the ambulance guys when they were struggling to make any progress across a flooded pitch (Danny Senda, Millwall...?).
Bristol City players laying into each other at a corner and one of them getting sent off in a TV game - I think three of them were then sent to prison for other offences the following week...?
Low has to be the 7-2 home defeat to Shrewsbury.
David Lee's awful post-match interview after that game.
Another low would be Gary Johnson thinking that using the East stand changing rooms instead would make a difference.
Ishmel Demontagnac getting sent off at MK Dons for the most ridiculous, childish challenge.

The play off second leg against Bristol Rovers simply the best game ever played at Sixfields, what an atmosphere, what a turn around!
3-1 and you fukked it up!!!
I remember Ian Atkins being announced as Man of the match that day by the stadium announcer!
As an 11 year old boy that day I had such a banging head ache but the noise and support for the team was that great it dwarfed my head ache so much that I couldn't feel the pain at all right throughout the game!

Half time Us V Baaaardiff city not sure what year ! , Away fan decides to exit home section running on from the west stand , He then proceeds to dance and act a nob for a while ( think he thought the stewards or police would be on to nab him by now ) they didnt , He looks bewildered and not quite sure what to do next before a North stand fan runs on to dance with him in the centre circle :-) bit of handbags ensued before eventually both escorted off the pitch . very strange and far better than watching people trying to get the ball in a car boot from 100 yds haha

Orient. No away wins in a year until they bowl up on a Tuesday night and beat us. Almost to the day a year later and Orient are back. With only 1 away win now in two years. Guess what?
Oh - and then their entire away crowd got scattered by one fat bloke lamping one of them in front of the West

And when we pissed on their parade at the Cottage, they were there to celebrate winning the title and Atkins sent the players out to "take the home end" Jason White scored we won 1-0

1998, Bristol Rovers. Play-offs.
Lost the first leg 3-1 at Bristol Rovers, with their PA announcer making throwaway comments about Wembley. Second leg we hammered them 3-0 (I was 4 at the time so didn't experience it) in the loudest night Sixfields has ever seen.
April 2012.
Oxford at home. Good Friday evening, under the lights at Sixfields, big crowd, sell out away end, us struggling and Oxford going well. The game had everything, we scored very early on and then they equalised and missed a penalty. 90th minute, Brett Williams chases a lost cause into one of the corners and lashes home the winner. Cue pandemonium, a massive result in our quest to stay up.

Good post Sir, I think Fulham paid the ref though! We deserved to win that game and as Dave Bowen said at the start, ' we must do our best to stay up, then we will take it from there and who knows were he may have taken us! When you think how many good sides have made it to the top, only to go down again in the first season, show's how unlucky we were and remember no team had ever won more points than we had that season and not stayed up.
