Penn is the sort of player who is a bit of a villain, going down with every opportunity.
He must have learnt his play acting at Cheltenham. First half on the ball, Carter was playing some nice passes. Were we actually over-run in midfield? But with Deegan and Carter you have no bite.
I thought Ishy caused problems and he had no fruitcake comments.

Kind of gives the lie to Shoemaker's dripping tap argument about spending. Actually, if we'd kept Guttridge, Akknfenwa and Harding and spent nothing on high wage marquee signings in the summer, who doesn't think we would be better off now?! And thank god we didn't sign Howe for a fee as so many wanted - dropped and offloaded asap by Burton. Be careful of what you wish for.
If we'd kept those lads and added nothing, we'd probably be about 14th and there would be clamour for ADB's head based on his failure to challenge for the title.

Why only 14th? Last season's players got us higher than that? I think we're also missing Carlisle massively - perhaps he was more of a leader off the pitch as well as on it than we have given him credit for? The other thing is that we had about (15?) goals from centre backs last year, and that supply has completely dried up.

We have a total of just 8 goals this season from the players currently on the books. We all questioned at the start of the season where are the goals coming from and 5 1/2 months on we are still asking the same question.

I haven't been on here for ages and look who the cat's dragged in again. Had to happen eventually I suppose as he must have got sick of talking to Steve Riches and himself on the Chron website. Not much of an audience for his views.
I see in other threads he's still trying to defend Gary Johnson.
See you in 4 months or so.
Just as an aside, I am struggling to make a case for avoiding relegation this season. Boothroyd dismantled a decent side and got rid of the good players and kept the rubbish. We are into January now and time is running out for the transfer window fast. Nero is fiddling while Rome burns. If King is not going to be the choice, someone has to come in this week to have a chance of assessing the cr@p he's inherited and bring in some new faces.
A right back for starters wouldn't be a bad idea as Amankwaah is one of the worst I've ever seen.
What a sad state of affairs. I really think it's about time Cardoza put the club up for sale. The club has gone nowhere since he arrived. His number one priority has always seemed to be the development of the stadium - fat lot of good that will be if the club is in the conference.

It has to be "B" Another big smile on my face. I always get the big decisions right.
Couldn't be happier, you can all blame me if it turns pear shaped. Up next year without a doubt and no need of the play-offs.

Spot on. The belief that ab had been suppressing Carter and now he had gone would free him up was to anyone who has watched this side this season misplaced beyond belief. Once the side was named we were in trouble. It doesn't matter who you have upfront they cannot score without service. carter cannot play in A 442 has he is simply far too slow.
I do not believe that Tozer is a centre half but all credit to him he was superb again yesterday but by dropping Reid to move him back the we completely sacrificed the middle of the park. More worrying was who was on the bench to change things if they were going wrong.
You cannot let platt, I know he was unfit yesterday and Donavan go without replacing them first. We are doing things backwards.
The problem is not the investment in the club but how it has been spent. Abs selection in his marque players was poor beyond belief. Duke excepted.
Sort of arguing a bit with yourself there fella?

Probably didn't put it very well but the only logic in letting them go at this time is to use their high wages to replace them with calibre players. So do it first and then release them not the other way around.

We are in such a dire position that we need to spend in the short term, but I am certainly not convinced that I would entrust this to AK. Yesterday was just like watching a Boothroyd effort. We need the manager situation resolved PDQ and then let the new man make some changes. Defensively we aren't too bad although I would rather have Paul Reid at centreback and Tozer at right back. Where we are bereft of any talent is the centre of midfield and up front. The minimum we need is a couple of strong midfielders, and a proven goal scorer, not a Gillingham reject and a novice. Cardoza needs to move quickly and decisively or we are doomed to Conference football, and I for one will not be renewing my season ticket. I doubt I am alone.

Telling that they've not dared ask for season ticket money yet, last few years the first deadline was around January 14th

Martin - you are not alone. Regulars around me in the West Stand have said they will not renew their season tickets to watch Conference football. Most of those have been regulars since Sixfields opened.
The situation is dire and the Cardozas need to act and to be seen to be acting.

not a Gillingham reject
Did you know Luke Guttridge is a Northampton reject? Luton Town seem quite happy with him.

Tozer at right back.
Have you not noticed how many goals conceded have come through Tozer playing in the full back positions over the last couple of years? I like Tozer but please keep him away from RB and LB!

Theyve used the cover of the pending redevelopement for the delay in putting season tickets on sale, that said I don't remember them even advertising half-season tickets for the remainder of this one.
