You might as well blame the defeat on Emile Sinclair's miss in the first half. The simple fact is that no-one bar Connell had a decent game today and it's just that errors in front of either goal have more direct consequences.

I thought Dickenson was good today and looked like he will be a good asset. Connell is an intelligent player.

Lack of leadership and a general to boss the defence like Carlisle is going to cost us.

I love how on an impossibly windy day, he was constantly bringing the ball down and looking to pass it. Shame he never got an assist from his great through ball to Sinclair in the first half.

our problems seem to be in defense and midfield, even if we get an early goal, you can never be confident that we will win, or even get a draw come to that. Iv'e lost count how many times I have said this, but you MUST BUILD FROM THE BACK!!!!

Apologies if it's been mentioned earlier, but if we'd brought on Tozer for Carter at half time we would have had 10-12 wind assisted throws landing on top of their keeper, rather than going nowhere. And we'd have had a willing worker to put in a shift too.

And a player who might have won numerous headers from the keeper kicks that were floating around the middle of the pitch.

I thought Carter had an ineffective day and should have been replaced by Tozer, who might well have played better, and as has been said - would have given us the long throw option. This would have been useful, as we got painfully few decent crosses in - which gave their keeper an easier afternoon than he should have had with that wind.
Sadly, Plymouth used the conditions much better, and could easily have got more goals in the first half.

What bothers me most was that we had a howling wind behind us and Plymouth never had to break sweat to keep us out. Bottom of lge @ home, lge survival at stake and we registered 1 shot on goal. No guile, no guts, I got the feeling I was watching 2 mid table teams. I feel worse about this defeat than I did V Wycombe.

doesnt change that we had 2 shots on target all match. we should have been bombarding that goal in the 2nd half, not ****ing about trying to get on showboating with flicks and backheels

Staggering really, you would have thought the instructions at half time would have been (maybe were?) don't worry about power, just about zinging it in and trying to keep it on target, and making sure we employed runners into the box to apply pressure and pick up any scraps.
s*** pitch.
s*** conditions.
And badly needing a centre-mid with some quality.

Not sure if it has  but totally agree with your comment  - in yesterdays conditions Tozer may well have been more effective than Carter. Personally I thought it was strange not to bring him on.

May well have?

Hard to see how he could not have.

Morris and Carter both released by their clubs, Torquay and Cheltenham respectively. Both much smaller clubs, couldn't get into their teams or future plans and we signed them, goes to show AB's recruitment over the summer was a shambles

A really depressing performance on and off the pitch.

On the pitch it appeared that far too many players were just going through the motions. Absolutely no leadership on the pitch either .... we are still missing really strong characters.

Off the pitch there seemed to be no plan B .... we were so ineffective in the second half it was crying out for more changes.

Total agreement that if Tozer had been on with wind assisted long throws would've been an option.

Not a lot of shouting from our dugout, only saw Knill once yell at players while Wilder occasionally shouted out.

Since Flowers has gone you do think maybe Dukes attention has waned a bit and not having someone senior to bounce ideas off is having an effect?

Geema pulled me to one side after the game and was very forthright with his views, Tyro and Geema what a show that could be!

No offence to Groundsman Paul Knowles but I can't see the pitch improving much before the end of the Season so hoof ball tactics will be needed as I can't see Hackett  running up the wing without a bobble or two halting his progress in full flight.

If Tuesday nights game goes ahead as others have said this is the biggest match since Shrewsbury, trying to feel positive with my medication and while a game is front of me my life's worries go on hold for Ninety minutes.

If this club has anything spirit left in it we should all chant this to our new management team!

Yep. If Flowers had been there to tell him how to stop a grass cutter moving at a snails pace then I bet he'd have stopped that first goal going in.  Tongue Roll Eyes
