I'd go as far as saying the crowd were counter productive today. Screaming for the team to attack as soon as they had the ball. It takes more that 2 seconds to go from front to back yet if it didn't they were up in arms. Massive groans at misplaced passes.
Have a beer, a smoke a w*nk whatever but chill the fcuk out. If we'd have played patient football we'd have won.

I was sat next to some old guy today like this today. Screaming to get the ball forward. When ball is played football, screams for the ball to be played on the floor!

Oh come on, yeh some people might be over the top, but at least they are caring and given it some, they might be getting frustrated but for gods sake leave them alone.

I found some of the people around me a bit irritating today. Lots of audible moaning and groaning along with some very negative comments directed loudly towards specific players.
It is just frustration borne mostly I suspect out of an expectation that we should win today. Even before the sending off. Still, I suppose it shows how much progress has been made in such a short space of time that so many are expecting a win.
I think we are going to find ourselves in a lot of these types of games over the next couple of months though. Teams are going to come here and look to frustrate us and we are not exactly free scoring.
I do agree that a crowd like today's is counter productive but you can't control people's responses and there is little point trying to. Wilder and the team have to shut it out remain composed and let their football change the crowd reaction instead of vice versa.

It wasn't atmosphere. Mansfield created an atmosphere with their songs and chants. I didn't hear the West Stand sing all game.
I hope the fans are more patient against Rochdale.

It was that sort of game....as a fan it was edgy and frustrating and there was little to cheer about. Agreed about the Mansfiled fans, best and loudest up Sixfields by far this season and the West sounded strangely muted.

The west stand was preoccupied with singings insults at the very obese mansfield fan at the front.

I hope you're not mistaking this for passionate support! Screaming "go on" at the top of your voice x several thousand when the Cobblers get the ball and charge forward is what's called (hopefully!) creating an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition...as is those jumping up in the West Lower at every decision. Anyone who visited St.James Park, Newcastle in the eighties will know what I mean!

Mansfield sang exactly the same songs that emanate from the West Stand Upper every home game! You not 'hearing' may be more a reflection on your ears tbf! I get irritated by the kids in the Upper West copying that excruciatingly embarrassing Crystal Palace 'Follow...' Took several attempts by two or three of us to get 'Fields of Green' started...but to infer that the West didn't sing is just silly!

That's what we said.....reminded me of the FA cup game at Sheffield Wednesday when we went through our back catalogue of songs. From what I could gather it sounded like they are gearing up for a local derby v Chesterfield.

Mansfield were also far louder than the west stand south section from where I was sitting. There was more of them of course but that's the truth of it. Loudest away support of the season.

I doubt Rochdale will bring many on a Tuesday night so hopefully our vocal support will lift the lads and we can sneak a 1-0 win. It was strange against Mansfield as thier support was clearly the best vocal support this season but it seemed to have a negative effect on our fans as they weren't able to up the tempo like we do with other large followings eg Oxford/Brizzle Rovrs etc. I think it was the pressure of the game too. So much at stake, our fans were edgy. If Brennan had slotted his early chance I think the nerves would have evaporated and the atmos in the stands would have shut the Stags fans up....alas it didn't happen.
Tuesday is a chance to get vocal again, and roar the boys home to a sexy home win!!!

They were easily louder, granted...and respect to them for that. Nevertheless, doesn't mean the West wasn't singing. Less respect to the Mansfield youth who came marching past Sixfields at 2.15pm (get into town early lads eh!) thinking they could take liberties...and by all accounts got a shoeing (well didn't even stand around to get one!) at the Rover...sorry, Sevens! Back down the hill by 3.05pm...now that's embarrassing!
