Unfortunately, I think it would take a lot more than 100k. This is the quandary we're in. According to Jefferson Lake, we simply can't afford to sack Sammo and Crosby and replace them with someone of Edinburgh's calibre and if we did it would result in a significant reduction in the playing budget for next season. Personally, I would support a reduction in the playing budget next term (particularly as some of it would be acheived through the removal of dead wood like Guinan), provided we had somebody at the helm who knew what they were doing. However, it would be very difficult to recruit a decent manager under these circumstances.
We all assume that Sammo is on peanuts, but the implication is that Crosby is on a far old wedge himself (probably increased by his prolonged umming and ahhing over his contract last season). Their combined salary probably consitutes that of an established lower division manager. I'm coming to the conclusion that we have little choice but to support Sammo. If he goes, as the Marquis has been suggesting, the likelihood is that Crosby would be given the job. Sammo knows he has to improve; I just hope he has some idea how to go about it.
What the hell has Edinburgh achieved as a manager? Nowt. You just think it's clever to champion a local league manager because you have heard about him. Were you saying the same about Mark Cooper who was bombed out of Peterborough so quick he hardly had time to sit in the dug out. Justin Edinburgh no thanks

Well that's made my mind up. If EastNpton thinks he's the wrong man then he most certainly isn't.

Have you been to all of Rubbish & Dustbins games this season? If you haven't, under your new rules, you're not allowed to comment as your opinion is totally irrelevant.

Well he took a very low budget side to the playoffs in their league. Considerably more than our manager has/is likely to achieve. He's also got contacts. Lots of them. And that could prove equally as important. Justin Edinburgh yes please

As I've said before, Cooper was on a hiding to nothing when he took the pooh job. Conference to championship is a huge leap and he was always going to struggle. His primitive long-ball style was never going to be successful at that level. Anyway, Edinburgh is a totally different kettle of fish. Top end of the conference to the bottom of league two is not a huge leap by any stretch of the imagination. As Drilling says, he's got contacts and he's done well at the Dims with limited resources. In fact in many ways he has a similar background to CC, who was arguably the current board's only successful managerial appointment.

Well done you.You identified MarK Cooper as an good manager on the basis of him doing a reasonable job at Kettering and have done the same with Edinburgh at Rushden. The common theme being that they are both local and you know a small amount about them. Big effing deal.
What about managers in every other part of the British Isles?
Nice 4-0 loss at home for Rushden today I see. Thats the way to do it!

Too many posters on this site letting their heart rule their head. Although I'm not convinced about Edinburgh. I was convinced about Cooper last season and I think we missed out, although isn't he now at Darlo, hardly pulling up trees there is he? I guess that little sentence says it all, that is the quandary our chairman has. Thankfully he has the assistance of all the "advisors" that post on here to help him.

Just as well DC ignored them all then! Otherwise we might actually be bottom rather than 22nd.
