As others have said, there's a decent football in there somewhere. He has decent pedigree.
However...apart from Torquay and against Southend he's been mainly crap whilst playing for us. I would argue that if he hadn't of been kept in the team for so long last season, it might not have ended up being so tight...
I said before the season started that I hadn't given up on him though. He's a good age and should at some point come good. He still may well do. But his confidence is shot to bits, a spell out on loan at a conference side may well do him and us a good turn. I would be disappointed if we take a loss on him at this stage and cash the few chips remaining...

personally i believe we need to keep hold of him, there is too much expectation on Toney shoulders and rotating him with Sinclair will benefit everybody. no doubt sinclair hasnt set the place on fire but he has a part to play.
Toney will need to be rested and sinclair has goals in him somewhere which we should persist with imo.

Where's the evidence for the "good player in there somewhere" argument? This is someone who is now looking for a tenth club at the age of 26. His best spell was one goal in six at Macclesfield. The comparisons to McLeod do McLeod a disservice.

Northampton Town have signed Crawley Town striker Emile Sinclair on loan with a view to permanent move.
Chris Wilder's Cobblers will hand the 26-year-old a two-year deal at the end of the season for an undisclosed fee.Is this still going to happen even though he is w@nk? Surely we are going to back out of this deal? I would hate to see us slogging through yet another season wasting a large proportion of the wage bill on another high profile underperforming striker. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25990157 In the words of young Mario, why always me?

In the words of young Mario, why always me? It wasn't 'with a view to a permanent move' - the permanent move was always agreed and non-negotiable. I can't remember exactly but from memory I believe he originally signed on loan (rather than just transferring) for the final months of the season as it allowed us to submit the paperwork slightly later than the 11pm deadline for permanent transfers (as you may recall, the negotiations were very very late in the day). Has been stated plenty of times by numerous outlets that this wasn't a deal where at the end of the season we had a choice to sign him permanently or not.

2-3 years ago he scored 13 goals in 47 games for the scum....in the championship.

I think this is what is so disappointing. It is plain to see he has ability (when he can actually be bothered to put some effort in), but in the higher leagues he seemed something of an enigma, drifting in and out of games. I honestly feel that, with decent players around him (which we now have) he should be capable of ripping this league up. But is he capable/willing to put in anything like 100% effort for even 45 minutes of a match?

I watched him warm up pre-game at York and he didn't exactly look engaged in the activity. Stood out compared to the others in the squad.

Remind us of your thoughts on john matquis mk please.
Appreciate that you're now coming to me to me for my pearls of wisdom... At present Marquis is an average league 2 footballer nothing more, nothing less. I personally don't get all the fuss about him, seemingly nor do his employers at Millwall. A good work ethic with limited ability can only get you so far. He still has a lot to learn but needs to apply his trade lower down the leagues for a few years. 22 years old and still waiting for his career to kick start. Feel free to send me a DM if you have any other question... As long as your not after the winning lotto numbers All the best MK X

Can't see how we'll be able to off-load him, he won't earn half as much as what he'd get from fulfilling his contract here.
Either he loan him out to various clubs over the next 24 months, subsidising most of his wage.
Or we use him as back-up for Toney + Rico and hope he recaptures his confidence / form.
He probably will never be worth what we paid, but he's decent enough to have a positive impact. Even from the bench.

My main concern was that it seemed that svery time he got his head on the ball, it went up in the air, either he couldn't jump or he was to lazy to put in the extra effort.

Am I right in thinking today was from a header? Your next job Defender is saying he will never score a hattrick.

OK I take your point, but he didn't score enough and he DID head the ball up in the air when he should have got over it and HEADED IT DOWN.

Decent goal today...I'd like to see him start at Bournemouth alongside Moyo. Perfect opportunity to experiment and give Rico and Toney a rest which on today's display they look like they need.
