Hods?! You've been gone too long. Nobody uses hods anymore! All about the telehandler nowadays
Ha! Yes but apparently not very quickly! Picture on the beeb, Ryan with shirt in hand was taken in daylight so must've been fairly sure a few hours ago. I'm not sure he played at the weekend so maybe was on the cards some days ago? Good luck anyway Ryan on the pitch and with the JCB.

When i've seen Cresswell he's been immense. But what excites me more are the comments from supporters of his former clubs.
As soon as it was confirmed, a mate of mine (A former Southend season ticket holder before uni) text me to say how surprised he was, and what a top player he is. Super consistent, a leader and a good figure to have about the club. I'm excited by this one and credit has to go to Wilder and Knill for selling the club to him and DC for putting his hands in his pockets!
Best Defender in the league? 3 year deal. Good work.

You must not have realised that Langmead/Collins are injured.
Also that Robertson could not be used as cover as Horwood Injured. Also that Tozer could not be used as cover as Alfei is injured.
We were comfortable at the back but with 4 injuries shows how with bad luck any squad can become thin.

I didn't realise that realise was spelt with a "z"? Seriously, is that the best you can do to dampen the spirit?

I reckon higher. Cresswell says in his interview there was no contact between the clubs until yesterday so it was done in a bit of a rush. Unless Fleetwood were looking to offload, which it doesn't appear they were, they would have the upper hand in any negotiations and they would be looking to recoup as much of their initial outlay as possible.

Well I think it's fair to assume that's another big chunk added to the budget.
What I like the most is that the squad is now full of characters and leaders, and over the next few years hopefully we will become attached to the players in a way that hasn't happened since the Atkins spell. No more revolving door that has (to be fair) been what we have become accustomed to during the DC reign.
With the redevelopment finally happening, this should spell a good few years ahead for us all.

Perhaps the Cov ground termination "settlement" agreement helped pay for this deal? Truly outstanding signing for us & a real show of intent. Well done to all involved (esp Cov )

Played 22 (+ 5 sub) times last season for them, with one goal....
My question still stands.... What's happened to him at Fleetwood? Signed in July 2013 and only made 18 starts and 3 sub appearances out of a possible 51 league games. That's less than an 'appearance' every other game... Has he had a bad injury?

No, I could do far better than that. I could be asking why spend money on another defender when imo it's another striker we need more. I'd be very surprised if Collins injury is serious, anybody who was in the north on saturday would have seen him pull up after chasing an Exeter through ball, but continue until after Sinclair had been treated. If we need another defender at this stage of the season we should have kept one/both of Doumbe and Mcsweeney (both quality) or taken someone like this guy on loan in the same way Exeter have taken Nicholls. As the last message says, what has happened to Cresswell at Fleetwood. I'm all for spending DC's money if it's appropriate but it was only a few days ago the management was spouting the mantra of not going to the chairman cap in hand. I thought you were one who believes, as read, everything official that comes from the mouths of the chairman and manager. Its a bit of a U turn don't you think? And yes Marvo, you can spell realise with a Z. In fact spelling it such is the way we should do it over here. It's our stupid dumbf uck cousins from the U.S. who have corrupted the word with an S. Spent any time over there..? Actually, and as I've commented on here before, I'm all for the progression of language through the use of the vernacular for purposes of ease and clarity, but I don't see anything wrong or difficult with 'realize'.

Well done j20 for educating Marvo. I'd like to know whether any of our injuries are long term. Nobody has said they are (except Hornby - will we ever seee him again??) in which case yes, we would appear to have a surplus of defenders and midfielders.

Cresswell looks excellent on paper but his signing raises a few questions.
1. Does this mean that DC is having a 'real go' this season? Surely we must have a top 5/6 budget now.
2. What does this mean for Langmead and Collins? How long is Collins going to be out for? Are we planning to play Collins as a left back? Or are we going to go with three centre backs, in which case won't that neutralise the attacking threat from Mohammed and Hackett?
3. As others have said, why has Cresswell made so few appearances for Fleetwood?
4. We all know that the main weakness this season has been right back. How will this signing help us in that area?
Anyway, the main thing is that we are undoubtedly stronger than we were this time last week. This shows commendable ambition on the part of DC and augurs well for the future.

Everyone keeps mentioning out budget like its big.
CW came to the club released all loan players Released more players before end of season Demon/Platt/ROD etc Then end of season came round released more ....
We didn't retain many and signed a lot of cast offs who will be cheap. (Horwood/Robertson/d'ath etc) We then signed a few who would be on average league two wage like Diamond etc I bet we did spend some money on Rico and JJ to get him here. We have a lot on loan. Alfei wages will be mostly paid by Swansea. We couldn't sign Mohammed due to wages so PV are still paying some of his.
We released a lot of players and signed a few and got good value for money! I read last year that from when CW came into the hot seat the wage bill had frantically reduced by the last game of the season! We were spendin so much before, our budheg I've been told is smaller than it was for many years. We've just got value for money.
