Anyone else planning on a trip to Scotland to take in the Alloa game?

Plans apparently for a transit load. Looks like three or four of us up in a car also, with a stay over on the Thursday night in Stirling and Friday night in Edinburgh.

I know it's not strictly related to pre-season friendlies but talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! CW wants the majority of the squad set early whilst ADB played the waiting game. We all know what happened to Aidy's plan!

Seems common sense to get as much pre-season time with the whole team together as possible. CW seems to bring confidence and that can make a huge difference at this level. Wildly over optimistic already!

Yes, reassuring which breeds optimism on and off the pitch...as well as highlighting what a complete **** (fill as appropriate) Boothroyd was!

I'm extremely happy with the way that the club is going about its prep for 14/15 on the field.

I have booked Thursday and Friday off work and have hotel booked. Still got to sort a few things out but should be there.

Eastleigh (a) on Friday August 1st. 7.30pm.

Nice ground and set up...kind of in the middle of nowhere but really nice pub down the lane past the church, around a 7 min walk.
Good time when there with Oxford City in their cup run a couple of seasons back.

Now recently pulled off a bit of a coup by stealing James Constable from Oxford United...the new Rushden & Diamonds?

If any cobblers player impresses during the match Eastleigh will probably buy them and double their wages Grin

I'm not saying they are a comedy set up, but I was in Eastleigh a couple of weeks ago and walked past Benny Hill Court.

...and Graham Hill in Silverstone. Something similar in Buckingham too.

Love Eastleigh's nickname though...The Spitfires!

Alloa fans giving us a warm welcome for our trip up there in July!
They're recommending Station Bar and The Star for beers and chats.
Why does every town in Scotland have a 'Station Bar'?  Grin

The line up for this years pre-season looks sensible.

A good mix of matches against league 1 teams where we aspire to be and upcoming local non-league outfits with a bit of a point to prove. Nice to see we're playing a game in Daventry also.

No point playing championship sides or premier league B teams as it benefits them far more than it does us.

Agree entirely.
I usually avoid pre season friendlies but I plan to take in the Alloa game as it will be the nearest thing to a European match we are likely to have Grin
I find the matches against the prem b teams a right waste of time when we should be comparing ourselves against closely matched competitors a league above/below/local to give us some sort of benefit for the season ahead.
As regards the Alloa game I will be in dumfries and Galloway that weekend, any chance of a lift to and from the game if anyone's passing through please?

Won't be passing through Queen of the South country unfortunately...but looks like only two of us in the car at the moment...anyone wants a Thurs in Stirling and Friday stayover in Edinburgh...will be picking up from Northampton at around 8.30am on the Thursday.
