Fantastic shirt! I'd pay £100 for one of those in new condition!

You can have a well worn XL one that's lifted the FA Cup - see left for pic!! £95 and it's yours!  Grin

Have I really just read that we would sell more shirts with a big name sponsor on it?

We'd sell more if we were at the top end of the table winning week in week out.

Yes of course the way to shift shirts and any merchandise is to be successful, win things etc, but ahem!

Also important is design, quality and above all name. Name of manufacturer and what's on it. Ask your wife/kids!!

Remember Scarborough running out with "Flamingo land" emblazoned on their shirts? I could barely see the rest of the game through laughing. Maybe it's just me or the beer on the day. Tickled pink  Grin

With a decent kit supplier and sponsor we would sell a lot more shirts. I wouldn't want to buy my kids a poor vandanel shirt sponsored by Aldi but I'd definitely buy them both a well made nike shirt sponsored by Samsung.

Do you not understand this? Same goes for any item of clothing its the reason why D&G sell Coca Cola tshirts and not ones emblazoned with ronseal.

If it has the Northampton town crest on it, its a great shirt.

All this nike/samsung talk is bolox, big corporate companies marketing  has turned your head.

Just for the record Northampton University is a great well known sponsor and last years kits were excellent.

Couldn't agree more. We've had some shocking kits over the years (the Stars in Stripes one was awful, as was the yellow and blue stripes from the Carpet Supercentre days), but the home AND away shirt last season were excellent. Let's stick with those, or something along those lines.

Agree with the positive comments about last years shirts. Really liked the away shirt in particular, more of the same please.

Christ this is going to be a hot potato. All down to personal taste and let's face it you could be a Jeemer Cry  or Gok Wan

Let's face it no-one is ever going to win the fashion debate!!

If you wear socks with sandals please do not contribute, just buy the shirt.

I liked the 89-99 wide (WBA style) striped claret and white (without the stars though) which was an acknowledgment to our first claret and white strip in 1899... Something different for a couple or three seasons before going back to the predominantly claret strip?   Cool

So you agree having a good sponsor does help? I bought my kids last years shirts because they are nice but the quality isn't as good as my kids nike England shirts. Therefore I would rather have nike as long as it doesn't have a poor sponsor, keeping the Uni as a sponsor would be fantastic.

No corporate marketing has turned my head I just happen to want my kids to look nice and have clothes that last.

Why can't we just have Lacoste shirts sponsored by Thackerays?

Shirts should be the favourite choice if the Sunday league, Pro sports with sponsors being Rockbottom discount stores.

Personally I'd prefer to back to white shirts claret shorts for te home kit and swap for the away kit.
A throw back to the 70's.

Just a thought .......

How can you talk about last seasons home shirt and not mention how irritating the cuffs were on the top of the arm, it was like being constantly being nibbled at by a hamster.

Personally I think errea have improved a lot since we moved to them.  Do you think Nike would bother manufacturing the white shirt with 2 claret bands we all yearned for?  Even if we got Nike branded kit it would be an "off the peg" model similar to what Southend get.

As for the sponsor, Northampton Uni have offered the money to sponsor NTFC right through the club. I don't see a large multinational company in the Shire looking to do that, do you?

As for brands, I've never been that bothered by big name stuff, I've had more wear out of a couple of t shirts that I bought from Sainsbury's than I have expensive tops from brands such as Fat Face.

The Uni are putting a lot of money into sponsoring sport. They now are sponsoring The Cobblers, The Saints and the County Cricket. Going a long way to promote them as a University that specialises in all the Sports Sciences but also putting Northampton on the map.

Good for them I say.
