I assume with Sinclair being made available that Nicholls will be kept around and not loaned out. What's everyone else's feeling on this?

If Sinclair goes out on loan (not sure there will be any takers) see a loan coming in, hopefully marquis seen as doesn't appear to be getting a look in at millwall Nicholls has done great but too soon to see him as a key player within squad I think

Marquis returning would be a good signing.

Nicholls is training with Exeter according to Jefferson Lake.
Good move for us and him if it happens, but I hope we insert a clause which prevents him from playing next Saturday...

Remember what happened when we loaned David Seal from Bristol City - they let him play and he scored! Although when we loaned the mighty Quinn to Scunny he was on their bench but did not come on.

If that's the case then there'd be no point in Exeter loaning him until after the match.

It's not going to do much for Nicholls' confidence if we loan him out to the next team we are playing in the league. Although perhaps we should have repeatedly tried that tactic with Constantine.

Surely Exeter are 'borrowing' him...we're 'loaning'?

Am I being dense or is it just me that cant see the benefit of him going on loan to another L2 club ? At worst he will just bench warm there and at best he will score some goals for them. Why cant he do that here ? Don't see the logic in giving him a contract and then not using him for our own benefit.

What was the name of the chap we had on loan in '76 from Watford who scored against them at their place. Nearly caused a riot if I remember correctly !!

Because Exeter had a transfer embargo all summer, couldn't get any players in, and are willing to take riskier gambles than we are.

Alan Mayes. I think that it was Jim Hall who scored there though. Alan Mayes just played.

Mayes put the cross in for Hall to score, chants of mayes out could be heard, buy sadly they took him back and he played a massive part in their rise up the divisions.

I can't see anything other than this being beneficial for all parties. Exeter are never going to challenge this season so if Alex can bang in a few for them against our promotion rivals then all well and good.
PS: Good player Alan Mayes. Classy.

1. He will get used to League Two football again (better than a spell in the conference) 2. As Marvo says he'll be playing for a struggling side and might get a few goals against our rivals for midtable/playoffs/automatic promotion (!) 3. The reason he 'can't do that here' is that he currently has about four players ahead of him - Toney, Richards, Moyo, Sinclair up front, Hackett and D'ath on the right It seems very logical to me, providing of course that we insert a clause stipulating that he can't play against his parent club.

Transfer deadline is next Monday, so he can sign then until Jan.
I then think it closes for a week and you are back to max 3 months on loan.
Had deadline been fri different case
