Had a superb weekend helping at and watching the Tour de Yorkshire France. Great atmosphere, particularly where I was spectating today. The NTFC Yorkshire flag got an airing roadside.
Gutted for Cav yesterday, but it looked like he was the cause of it.
Amazing how a little residential road in Sheffield had a similar effect to splitting up the contenders as long Alpine climbs.
Its going to be a great three weeks.
Allez Froome!

I was up on the 'cote d'oughtibridge' ...great atmosphere among people, a lot who don't even understand cycling said they have gotten into it this year. Bit disappointed with the caravan, not many sponsors around with the french not wanting to travel to an area where they're not going to sell.
Great to see Jensie in polka dots too.
I don't have the same feeling when I watch Froome, as say with Wiggins..I suppose its because he came out of nowhere in 2011 whereas I grew up with Wiggins. I'd quite like to see Contador win this year, or at least a 3 way battle with Nibali. Although I'd still be pleased if Froome won.
Remember you don't have to cycle to enjoy the sport, don't get hung up on the lycra wearing idiots.

....but who to support now, with Cav gone in Harrogate and Froomey crashing out a few minutes ago. Sir Dave B's gamble on leaving out the charismatic Wiggo has certainly not come off.
For me it looks like Contador now

Absolutely great stage today, Nibali in control but his team have a hard job keeping it all the way to paris, they might even let it go deliberately in the next few days.
Hopefully this will create an opportunity for all the british fans who just follow Cav and Froome to find some other favourites in the race.

Well, there's hardly a Britisher left, and none with the slightest chance of the podium, let alone winning.
It's a real shame that Quintana isn't there - a scrap between him, Nibali and Contador would have been really worth watching.

More "home" territory for me today, the race finished in my wife's home town and starts there tomorrow. They showed where I got married and and where we go sledging. Tomorrow they pass where I go skiing. I've cycled down the Category 1 climb, but not up it.
Monday is going to be a big day in shaking up the runners and riders.

Contador gone. Ritchie Porte doing well with no pressure on him. Nibali I going to have to keep abreast of a lot of pressure if he going is going to stay in yellow all the way to Paris. Its a big ask.

I just spent a week in Provence. The hills are insane and one I randomly clocked with 14km of a very steep incline. I could not comprehend how some 60+ year old men and women were tootling up on their bikes in lycra. The payback down the other side must be great but my lord! It must be the wine and fags.
