So, as for some of our players from last season....
Oliver started for Gillingham but was subbed off after 68 minutes
Williams started for Cheltenham and played the full 90 minutes as they knocked out the Posh
Morton was on the bench for Lincoln and came on after 81 minutes as his new club won at Crewe

Other former Cobblers on the scoresheet included a hat-trick for James Collins as Luton beat Norwich, Luke Chambers scored for Ipswich, Ian Henderson scored for Salford but Matt Crooks equalised in the last seconds to send the tie to penalties.

Former Cobbler(!) Kyle Walker was sent off playing for England over the weekend.

Callum Morton started for Lincoln in their EFL Trophy win but was subbed off after 64 minutes without troubling the scoresheet. Former loanee Regan Poole netted for MK against Cobblers, Joe Powell, another former loanee, scored twice for Burton against Posh, Vadaine Oliver came on as a half time sub for Gillingham and scored within five minutes.

I'm sure we'll settle down to just scorers and sendings off soon.....but..... this weekend.....

Scott Wharton was an unused sub for Blackburn, former Cobbler Bradley Johnson was on the scoresheet for them too.
Charlie Goode was an unused sub for Brentford, for whom Ivan Toney played the full 90 minutes
John-Joe O'Toole picked up a straight red card in Burtons defeat at Fleetwood
Aaron Pierre picked up a red for two yellows, the second of which was for a foul on John Marquis as Shrewsbury drew at Portsmouth, ruling him out of our game there next weekend.
Callum Morton got five minutes off the bench as Lincoln beat Oxford
Ian Henderson bagged a goal for Salford, who also had Jordan Turnbull on their bench, he didn't get on.
Andy Williams started and played 85 minutes in Cheltenhams defeat to Morecambe
Vadaine Oliver came on at halftime for Gillingham who lost at home to Hull.
Kemar Roofe scored for Rangers, Junior Morais came off the bench in the 87th minute for St Mirren for whom Sam Foley played the whole game, O'Doffin and Moyo both played the full 90 minutes for Hamilton

Alex Dyer, who was on our books as a youngster 13 years ago, scored his first goal of his second spell with Wealdstone in the National League yesterday.
Dyer made his debut in 2007 and scored three goals for us before moving into non-league with Wealdstone in 2010. After spells playing in Denmark, Norway and Kuwait he signed a short term deal with The Stones a couple of weeks ago.

He was stuck in S***thorpe reserves when we picked him up so perhaps his time with us was a blip. It would be a good bit of business to get him back.

Not yet a former Cobbler but Matt Warburton somewhat predictably scored for Yeovil against his former club Stockport with just two minutes on the clock...the Glovers went on to lose 3-2 to the Hatters though.

Aaron Pierre received his second red card this season for a dust up with an Oxford City player in the Shrews 1-0 extra time win. Pierre has two goals to go with his two reds this season.

Vadaine Oliver was on the scoresheet for Gillingham but they went down to a 3-2 defeat at home to Exeter in the Cup, Oliver has scored four this season.

A fourth goal of the season too for Harry Beautyman down in the National League as he scored the only goal in Sutton's 1-0 win over Halifax.

Ivan Toney another goal and 2 assists tonight.

Making his total for the year v’s entire Northampton Town total:

Ivan Toney 23 Northampton Town 20

Still blows my mind that when Newcastle were offering him out on loan there were quite a few on this board that wouldn’t have wanted him back because they didn’t think he was good enough.

Yeah I remember plenty on here saying there was no way we could get promoted from league 2 with Bayo in the side because of his lack of mobility. He proved that was garbage at Wimbledon, then again at Wycombe and for good measure played a big part in getting them promotion to the championship.

Can anyone work out how many of them were at Sixfields at the same time?
If we could have them back, I think DCL and Marquis would be a good pair up front. Lines at his peak and Crookes would be good in a midfield three with someone with legs to win them the ball.

Ben Tozer signs for Ryan Reynold's/Rob McElenney's nouveau riche Wrexham for a fee in excess of 100K. They're greeting it as a massive signing for that level which is a testament to the job Duff has done in improving him.

I actually think if he'd been played as a centre back (i.e. his actual position at Newcastle) rather than a utility player/midfielder when he was with us then we might have seen a different player.

A fair smattering of ex-Cobblers finding the net today....

Hiram Boateng grabbed a late equaliser for the Franchise at Cheltenham
Former loaneee Brennan Dickenson bagged for Carlisle
Harry Smith scored twice for Orient at Newport, thats 4 in 4 for him now.
Ollie Banks, like Dickenson another 2014 loanee, scored for Barrow at KC's Oldham, a game marred by protests and pitch invasions.
Emmanuel Oyeleke, a 2013 loanee, scored for Chesterfield in the National League
Joe Widdowson grabbed a goal for Barnet in their 4-3 defeat at Grimsby.
Over 10 years since Jamie Reckord was with us on loan from Wolves, now he's at moneybags Wrexham and he found the scoresheet today.
Billy McKay is back for a third stint at Inverness and he scored twice in their 4-0 Scottish Challenge Cup win over Buckie Thistle.

Mixed fortunes for the Chukwuemeka brothers....while Carney started on the bench and came on to replace Phillipe Coutinho in Villas win at Everton, Caleb made his first start for Livingston and was replaced at half time in their 1-0 Cup win over Ross County.

Ivan Toney scored for the second consecutive Premier League game, both ended in defeat for his Brentford side though. Charlie Goode is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

James Collins grabbed only his third goal for struggling Cardiff in their defeat at Bristol City, Adebayo Akinfenwa scored his 50th League goal for Wycombe in their 3-2 loss to Morecambe, John Marquis scored on his Lincoln debut as they won 2-1 at Plymouth, Michael Smith scored his 19th of the season as Rotherham beat Cheltenham 1-0. Fellow former Cobblers loanees Mikel Miller, Matty Blair and Kion Etete all played a part in the same game.

Luke Norris scored from the spot earning Stevenage a draw at Hartlepool, Chris Lines and Luke Prosser were also in the Stevenage side. Luke Chambers scored his first Colchester league goal in their 3-0 win at Salford.

Jamie Reckord scored an own goal in Boreham Woods 1-1 draw with Weymouth, Kevin Van Veen scored from the spot in extra time to help Motherwell to Scottish Cup success over Morton.

Some more ex-Cobblers on the scoresheet today were:

Ricky Korboa for Woking in the National League, Ian Henderson still knocking them in for Rochdale in the same division at the age of 38, Jak McCourt with a brace for Buxton in the National League North, and Ricky Holmes who opened his account for Farnborough in the National League South.

Former Cobblers knocking them in today were Matt Crooks for Middlesbrough in the Championship, James Collins bagged a penalty for Derby, Billy Bodin for Oxford and Jon Marquis scored for Bristol Rovers in League 1.

In the National League Michael Jacobs saw red for Chesterfield after picking up two yellows in their game at Ebbsfleet, Ricky Korboa scored twice in three minutes as Woking won at Hartlepool, Nicke Kabamba also scored twice for Barnet but they fell to defeat at Rochdale for whom Ian Henderson was on the scoresheet. Matt Warburton scored the only goal in the televised game as Solihull Moors won at Kidderminster.

Watching Soccer Special tonight quite a few ex-Cobblers names popped up.....

Kion Etete scored Cardiffs third in their 3-2 Championship win over Coventry.
Former loanee Peter Kioso scored Pish's third in their win over Cheltenham for whom another former Cobblers loanee, James Olayinka, was sent off.
Nicke Kabamba scored his ninth of the season for Barnet as they beat an Aldershot team featuring Max Dyche.
Joe Nuttall scored for Oldham in their win over York and Jack Bridge found the net for Southend as they beat Maidenhead.

Bit of a fall, just like Lee Tomlin who we were supposed to be looking at last season, he's now turned up at and turns out for Harborough Town.

DCL again on the scoresheet in the Premier League for Everton, 3 in three games for him.
Kion Etete scored his fifth of the campaign in his first league start this season for Cardiff.
Matt Grimes bagged for Swansea at Millwall, his first league goal of the season, as it was too for Darnell Furlong in WBA's 4-0 win at Preston.
Regan Poole scored again for Portsmouth in League 1.
In League 2 Jordan Turnbull saw red for Tranmere in their defeat at Wimbledon and Chris Long scored from the spot in a 3-3 draw for Crewe at Wrexham.
Byron Webster scored for Bromley in the National League and there was a goal for Michael Jacobs in Chesterfields draw at Maidenhead.

Not been tracking the scorers for a while, but one name that seems to keep popping up is Danny Rose.

He made 44 starts for us and 43 further appearances off the bench in all competitions..... 7 goals.
He then went to Stevenage and made 36 starts and a further 16 sub appearances.... 9 goals.

This season he is at Grimsby and has made 18 starts, never come on as a sub and has bagged 7 goals, including scoring in his last three games.

Another former Cobblers striker albeit on loan, James Collins, is now into double figures for Derby with 10 goals in all competitions, five of those coming in back to back games last week.

Emyr Huws (remember him) has announced his retirement at the grand old age of 30.
Probably a recurring neck injury, from watching the ball sail over his head during Boothroyds tenure.

30 years old and only 145 senior games. That probably wasn't part of the dream as a Man City youngster.

Would you believe it, Ivan Toney scored on his return from suspension, doing his chances of a big money move back to his boyhood club no harm whatsoever.

Rumours that JB insisted on a clause be inserted into his new contract that he be allowed to bid for Ivan Toney once he gets his scoring boots back on have been strongly denied by sources at NTFC, which can mean only one thing......

Didn't know whether to put this in here or the managers thread, but Richard Hill left Eastleigh on Saturday night after an 11 game winless run, he's been swiftly replaced by former Southampton keeper Kelvin Davies.
