Guarantee he was not one of the two ntfclad was speaking about simply due to this...
Alan Nixon reported earlier in January that Town were looking to get rid of the experienced striker due to his wages, which are among the highest in League One, and even though he is good for goals when he gets the services, Charlie Adam has a lot of other forwards at his disposal too.
Can't really see a team with a bottom 3 budget going all out to bring him in, can you?
Our thought our budget was 19th…..

Why would he? He gets a salary for doing fcuk all, leaving him free to continue with his soccer school, and going to watch his beloved Luton at every available opportunity. Little more than a salary thief.
Wouldn't the majority of his salary be covered by insurance? I assume clubs do actually insure against having to pay injured players full salary?

That may have been the goal at the start of the season but targets change as you go along. Nobody expected us to be in this position, 9th with still 19 games to go but we are where we are. Believe me, these opportunities don't come along very often and when they do you have to give them everything you've got. Saying, lets just get 4 more wins then let the season dwindle away IS being negative. Nobody expected Atkins side to make the play-offs but they did. So would have Carr's under todays qualification. That's it, 126 years and only once have we made it above this division. To sit back now and say the jobs done is criminal. Dreams can't come true if you don't dare to dream in the first place.
I'm with you mate..... I can't still believe that people are talking about "survival"...... look at the League table, you'd need at least 12 (TWELVE) teams to overtake you at this stage whereas if you dared to look up you'd realise that you'd only need to overtake three! Yes its a tall order especially with some of the quality and resources that those teams have, but its not an impossible dream. I'd take the one year in the Championship that Wycombe had three seasons ago over spending the next ten years merely wishing we'd given it a go!

Yes, its always worth "going for it" with someone else's money!
Instead, why don't we all contribute to a fund to pay for this attempt.
I'll put in a tenner, now who should we sign?
the money never comes from the fans, it always comes directly or indirectly via the owners. Some clubs and owners will speculate, others won't! I've yet to hear of one who went out to the fans to pay into a transfer fund when the window came around. The difference in revenue is huge, for example the average Championship club rakes in 7-8 million from the TV deal alone, so can you imagine the difference that would make to a club with a current total turnover of around £5m? EFL solidarity payments for Championship clubs are seven times what they are for League 1 clubs. Some chairman/owners consider the above worth the gAmble!!

Think Bowie went down too easily after trying to go the long way around the keeper…..seen them given though. The ‘red card’ was also a 50/50, I actually thought McGowan had committed the foul at first. Two decisions which could have gone either way and evened themselves out in the end. It’s funny going on the opponents messageboard and reading stuff suggesting we were a poor side, thought we played well in spells but at times in the second half it did seem like we were settling for a draw with them putting us under a bit of pressure, Burge taking an age with kicks when I was just thinking let’s get at them!! The sending off seemed to wake us up a bit and we got the winner we just about deserved on the night. Great scenes in the away end, and funny scenes in the home stands!! 40 points reached….lets push on, managerless Shrews at home on Saturday so another three points in the bag….

Indeed disappointing to concede on the 48th minute, very open game with both defences leaving lots of room. Need to tighten up at the back and keep the press on, unleashing Springett for the last half an hour to kill them off and put the final nail in Appletons coffin!! The Addicks were roundly booed off at half time, the fans aren’t happy they’re being given the runaround by little old Northampton!!

I don't think there is anything official about Appleton being sacked
Plenty of speculation though it appears even the club have denied it. That said, Charlton are a bit of a basket case and it wouldn't surprise me to hear in the morning that Appleton has gone and Michael Duff is appointed in his place.

I'll be there, train journey to Waterloo, then tube/train to Charlton.
Definitely the London Bridge option for me...... Also, travellers from Northampton...... there will be a bus replacement running from Milton Keynes to Northampton by the time we come back, adds a bit of time onto the journey. I hope the Chelsea Cup game goes to extra time and pens....so the trains out of Euston are quieter!!

Absolutely, this is a very important block that we are in.
There was a point on Saturday when we led against Wigan and the live table had us just 7 points off the top 6 and I was daring to dream.....three days later we are 12 points off....it really can change that quickly! It can change back just as quickly though, we've only got to overtake three more teams.

Bear in mind that ASLEF called a rail strike yesterday so it is highly likely there will be no trains between Northampton/Milton Keynes on any operator

I think he made 2 starts and then the rest off the bench.
Definitely in the "impact sub" category. His two starts were in his last two games for Derby, the first nine appearances were as a sub, normally for the last 15-20 minutes or so. This season has seen a similar pattern with Springett coming off the bench for the last 20 mins or so, often to replace Rowe after he's burned himself out!
