The Addicks have sold out their 1473 allocation.
82  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Nene Derby part 2 05.03.24 on: February 28, 2024, 22:07:45 pm
No, that can't be the case because I have read time and again that almost all teams in League 1 would sell our tiny away end out.

Stevenage, Barnsley, Reading, Cambridge, Portsmouth, Oxford, Bolton (7) all sold out the South and took seats in the East too.

Lincoln, Wycombe, Orient, Burton, Fleetwood, Cheltenham, Wigan, Shrewsbury and Bristol Rovers (9) all brought less fans than the South Stand holds.

Charlton (sold out), Blackpool, Derby (will sell out), Port Vale, Carlisle and Exeter still to come.

Posh.

Tit for tat is exactly what’s happened.

On the subject of tit for tat, hopefully we reciprocate next year with the ticket pricing.

Sadly we can’t as we aren’t allowed to charge more than we do home fans for ‘similar accommodation’ . That feeds into why we charge the same for match day admission to the north as other areas despite season tickets being much cheaper. If we charged say £20 on the day for the north (a price befitting of the smaller stand, poorer view, lesser catering facilities?) they we would only be able to charge visitors £20 for the South….
84  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Nene Derby part 2 05.03.24 on: February 27, 2024, 21:50:06 pm
Do you believe this to be a decision by the club, or the local plod?

I think the club but i'm not sure which club! I asked about the guarantees that might have been put in place....I mean we could have asked for 3800 and only sold 2000.... doesn't look good when you send back tickets that the home club could have potentially sold.

As for plod.... would Peterborough v Northampton on a Tuesday night be a higher (risk) category game than Peterborough v Portsmouth on a Saturday?
85  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Nene Derby part 2 05.03.24 on: February 27, 2024, 19:19:14 pm
I'm a bit perplexed as to how decisions are made on ticket allocations for games. Specifically this Boro game..... Derby were given a full allocation of the entire stand behind the goal plus the seats in the main stand from the off. 3,876 allocation and then a further 78 seats were made available later.

Portsmouth visit London Road on March 16th, they were originally allocated 2300 seats, that being the entire stand behind the goal, but none in the main stand. After quick sales they have now been given the 1600 or so in the main stand too, sold block by block.

We only got an allocation in the main stand and none behind the goal.... and sold them out pretty quickly, but no further allocation offered....or requested???  Cambridge also only got the main stand 1600 or so.

There must be some sort of communication between the clubs ahead of games..... do Pish ask the visiting club how many they think they will sell? Do some sort of guarantees of sale have to be given with regards to allocations requested? Is it the Police who set the figures or is it Peterborough reciprocating the allocation that their fans get at the opponents ground?

I thought the support yesterday was really something. For what was/is really a nothing game, and I say that in the nicest of terms if we aren't going down or aren't going to make the playoffs, the numbers travelling was really impressive. A good crowd at the Beech before the game, and plenty travelled by train with the noise continuing both at Burton train station, on the train and in Tamworth where a good many of us had to wait nearly an hour for our next train to Rugby.

Can't tell how many are sold for standing behind the goal but only 28 seats remaining of the near 400 allocation, looking forward to it assuming they don't have a lot of rain this week otherwise it will go the same way as recent games there as the pitch is in very poor condition and easily waterlogged.
Heavy rain forecast tomorrow and light rain on Friday.....i'm leaving it as late as possible before buying!

Didn't know whether to put this in here or the managers thread, but Richard Hill left Eastleigh on Saturday night after an 11 game winless run, he's been swiftly replaced by former Southampton keeper Kelvin Davies.

So stattos out there - when was the last time we did the double (6 points) over our web fingered friends?

1986/87 was the last time we did the league double.....in fact it was the only time in history that we have done the League double over them!

Won 2-1 at home (County Ground) 14/09/86 and then won 1-0 at London Road on 31/1/87. We also beat them 3-0 at home in the FA Cup in November 86...so we actually did the treble that year!

Since then however, Pish have done the double over us in 1990/91, 1999/2000, 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2020/21
93  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January 2024 Transfer Window on: February 13, 2024, 23:18:23 pm
60 minutes in the last 2 years. Not sure why, should fit in nicely though.

suffered a serious knee injury in training whilst on loan at Stoke, took him 10 months to get over it, was about to return for Reading but did his hamstring in training the day before his comeback game, then did come back a further month later, made two substitute appearances before making a start but promptly went off injured after 15 minutes with a foot injury. That was 11 months ago.

Slightly off topic, but Mansfield beat Harrogate 9-2 tonight. There must have been some shocking defending going on.

Any defence that lets Hiram Boateng score a hattrick must be shocking!!
95  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Leyton Orient (a) Tues 13th Feb on: February 13, 2024, 21:35:44 pm
Orient also have 6 players out injured, Happe and Sotiriou both went off on Saturday and will be missing. In 42 games at Orient we have 10 wins, 13 draws and 19 defeats and 5 of those 10 wins have been in our last unbeaten 8 visits. As they have only scored 14 goals in their 14 home games we have the chance to improve our poor run of conceding 22 goals in our last 10 away games, they have also only scored more than 1 home goal in 4 games. They have conceded 19 home goals but 13 of these came in 4 defeats to Portsmouth, Stevenage, Oxford and Derby, so only 6 conceded in the other 10 games. In their 31 games they have a quite impressive 11 clean sheets as opposed to our 6

2 late Barnsley goals ended their run of 8 unbeaten games taking 20 points which included winning 3-0 at Portsmouth and 1-0 at home to Bolton. We have to hope that 1 or 2 of our walking wounded recover to make the squad and it looks like the away support could be about our average for the season of just over 700. Hopefully we can extend our recent impressive record at the O's and come home with some points.

If only he had been!!
96  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Relegation Watch on: February 13, 2024, 21:31:52 pm
I doubt we will be dragged into the relegation fight, no team has gone down in the last 10 seasons with 51 points and last season Cambridge stayed up with 46. The average number of points to avoid relegation in the last 10 years (ignoring the covid shortened season) is 48.1 points.

On the comparable week last season the teams in 20th and 21st had 30 and 29 points respectively, this season they have 32 and 31, so the safety target would appear that its going be a bit higher this season than last.

99  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Leyton Orient (a) Tues 13th Feb on: February 12, 2024, 16:30:35 pm
So The Cobblers are on the road again, this time making the 1200 mile round trip to face French Ligue 1 side Lorient.  Scrap that, we're actually travelling to East London to play Leyton Orient....easy mistake to make!!

11th placed Cobblers are up against the 9th placed O's, the London sides rise up the table over the past few weeks took a jolt at Barnsley on Saturday as they fell to their first defeat in eight games. Four home games in the next five gives them a chance to really make a push for an unlikely play-off spot, they currently sit eight points behind 6th placed Stevenage.

That recent run followed a run of a different kind, just one win in 11 in all competitions had left them looking down rather than up, a defeat to Bolton on 23rd December left them sitting in 16th place, with 25 points from 22 games, but 6 wins in 8 has really boosted their points total. They still only sit 18th in the home table with six wins and five defeats, their total of 14 goals scored in 14 games is worse than only three other clubs. Derby though are the last team to win in E10 recording a 3-0 victory back on December 9th.

Joint top league scorers are Ruel Sotiriou and Shaqai Forde with eight apiece. Forde, a 19 year old on loan from Watford has made half his appearances off the bench this season. The O's also boast Joe Piggot in their ranks, the striker has lost his way somewhat after a prolific spell at Wimbledon a few seasons back. He's been used regularly this season appearing 35 times in all competitions but only has four goals to his name.

Richie Wellens is in the hotseat, he has a decent record overall with 47 wins in his 101 games so far. Wellens took over from Kenny Jackett almost two years ago now following a less than impressive short stint at Doncaster.

For a few seasons Leyton Orient held a sign over The Cobblers, the O's couldn't win away from home for toffee unless they were playing at Sixfields! Over the years now though The Cobblers hold the edge with 33 wins to 28 and another 24 draws. We are unbeaten in our last EIGHT league visits to Brisbane Road, Orients last win came in April 2005 courtesy of a 3-2 win and a last minute Lee Steele winner. Since then however we have won five of the eight games played, including that unforgettable 4-0 win in our title winning season of 2015/16 (McDonald, Holmes and Collins 2) as well as a four goal first half blitz in April 2022 (eventually winning 4-2). Our last trip there was altogether less entertaining, a 0-0 draw in October 2022 where we played almost all the second half with 10 men following Ben Fox's red card. Earlier this season the teams drew 2-2 at Sixfields, Kieron Bowie seeing red for the Cobblers and the already mentioned Forde grabbing a stoppage time equaliser in front of 6,193 fans.

Ben Atkinson is the man in the middle for this one, he's a first year EFL ref who likes his cards, 103 yellows and six reds shown in his 21 games thus far. We have not had the pleasure of his company yet but he did referee Orients Trophy defeat at Gillingham back in September, and he didn't endear himself to the O's fans in sending off Forde (he gets another mention) and Brandon Cooper in a 2-1 Gills win.
