I know for certain that Maloneys wife wanted to return to ireland, will be interesting to see if he heads back home or stays in the football league.   Personally I think he has represented the club brilliantly and I'm sure he will get a good reception if he comes back.  lovely lad as well if anyone has ever had the chance to sit and have a proper conversation with him.
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC FOR SALE on: May 26, 2018, 13:03:35 pm
I understand people asking for KT to release the lease details that he would like changed, but we should remember all of this will be tied up in a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).  It was telling in his statement that he said that he was happy for the Council to release the details, basically releasing NTFC for the NDA, but unless the council also agree to go public then he can't release a single detail that is covered by the agreement.

We shouldn't mistake being bound by an NDA as being the same for deliberately wanting to keep them in the dark.  NDA's are pretty standard around these kind of discussions, even in my line of work i sign a couple of month and my discussions are nowhere near as sensitive as this.  It would be great if the council release what KT has given them permission to, but in all honesty I doubt they will.  The council are in defence mode at the moment.  Their fear of further upsetting the voters is resulting in major inertia.  If the sixfields scheme can be interpreted as damaging the town centre, then they probably don't have the bottle as each councillor is protecting their seat and need every vote they can get.

My gut is that the council is the blocker.  I also guess that at least £1m of the magic £4m has already been invested into the club with day to day running costs and the improvements they have already made.  We should let this play out before we throw KT under the bus.  Having met him personally and discussed the club and plans, I think he is pretty genuine.  It seems fair enough to me that he wants to use profit from enabling development to fund the NTFC improvements.  Surely this is a win/win?  Why would we be against that?  He is a businessman, and he wants to make money whilst also improving us.  I don't have a problem with that.
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which players would you like to see the club try to sign? on: May 14, 2018, 17:28:25 pm
surely Bayo would be worth an approach.  Wycombe may not fancy him in L1 and his goals and assists in L2 were excellent again last year.  Bayo and JJOT on the same pitch.....

I started the thread back in May 2012 and I'm still here!
5  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ricky Holmes hands in transfer request on: June 15, 2016, 10:35:41 am
Page has no way failed - no manager could have kept Holmes here  - clearly he wants to be Wilder if rumours that its Sheffield who are the concerned team are true.

Yes Holmes has done great for us but lets not forget the 17 league games he didnt play for us when we were still winning games and looking like a great team.

NTFC success last year was a team effort and not any individual.

The Holmes lovefest is as nearly nauseating as the Bayo lovefest. We will move on  - the club is bigger than any one player.

100% Agreement.
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ricky Holmes hands in transfer request on: June 15, 2016, 10:34:18 am
Without Ricky Holmes we are relegation candidates.
It's not so much the playing value that must be taken into consideration it's the cost of his loss to us.
I'd suggest £500,000 isn't much good for the long term future of the club if we are back in league two and all momentum is lost.
It could set us back years.
If we have any ambition we'd make him see his contract out and sod the cash.
We need to consolidate in league one not sell our best players and come back down.
I don't see Oxford or Bristol rovers selling their best players.
Same old cobblers,
A pound note flutters by and we feel compelled to sell.
He is still our player and he should be made to see out his contract.
Whatever cash is offered you are not going to replace Ricky Holmes.
Man Utd couldn't replace Ronaldo
Spurs couldn't replace bale
We as sure as hell won't replace Holmes.
If he goes we are right in the **** as far as I'm concerned.

Didn't Spurs have their best season in years last season WITHOUT Bale.  And suggesting losing Holmes makes us relegation candidates is right up there with the biggest overreactions I have heard in years.
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Ricky Holmes hands in transfer request on: June 15, 2016, 10:31:56 am
That's the spirit. We may as well have it written into players contracts that they are free to stay just so long as they feel like it.

We have won the league and all of a sudden become a seemingly very unattractive club to players. Rose, Adams, Holmes and who knows who else wanting out. Is Page that much of an unlikable person? Why were we a bigger pull when we were in League Two??

The irony is the players who were desperate to play for us (Marquis and Lelan) weren't offered terms.

You do realise that most of the players won't have met Page yet?!  The issue is not Page, or anyone at the club.  The issue is that they raised their profile last year, and other clubs are willing to offer them a wage that we cannot afford to without risking our financial stability.  It's not that difficult to understand.

Marquis - Replaceable
Rose - Replaceable
Adams - Replaceable
Collins - Replaceable

Holmes - Irreplaceable

This is not good news for us but there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. Let's just hope it is resolved quickly and we move on.

seriously?Huh?Huh???  He is a great player, but not irreplaceable.

Watch this space....I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Lenagan join the Sixfields project as a backer.

for what it's worth (probably not much  Cool ), I was told about 2 months ago that the "money man" was leaving Oxford and would be joining in with our project.  Not sure if it is related to this guy or not, but adding two and two together I am either getting 4 or 400 :-)
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Takeover Deal Off on: October 19, 2015, 20:33:13 pm
Wouldn't the club need to convince the administrators that there is a future for it as a company? And wasn't the last credit report something along the lines of "huge risk"?

In terms of lower league teams, we have been consistently well supported for many years.  This gives the administrator a base number of season ticket holders with guaranteed revenue.  If a few local businesses were to then also commit 5 or 6 figure sums in sponsorship and all of a sudden we look fairly viable as a business.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Takeover Deal Off on: October 19, 2015, 20:31:10 pm
It's unlikely we'll be allowed to enter administration whilst subject to a Winding Up Petition. It can happen, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

I have to be honest, this is not an area of expertise for me so I don't know the in's and out's of the legal side.  However, lots of sporting outfits seem to have been hit with winding up orders over the last few years and they always seem to be saved at the 11th hour, so I guess I am hoping we join this list of outfits!
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Takeover Deal Off on: October 19, 2015, 20:29:12 pm
A club yes...but what future? Again, who knows?! The last time we went into administration the administrators sacked the manager and 10 players within 24 hours, forcing us to play a youth team with Phil Chard as player manager at Barnet.
Round and round in circles without getting anywhere....£12m to do something about it....our big chance....blown by the baffoon!

That's a fair point, and of course it would be a step into the unknown.  There is no ideal solution, but to me this is the only one that remotely has a chance of working.  There seems little chance of someone rolling into teyn with £10m+ to invest, but finding £2m is not such a big deal for people who have had a successful career.  The consortium I have heard might be interested certainly could raise a couple of million between them and I believe have the club and town at their hearts.

The next few weeks will be a rollercoaster I'm sure, but my prediction is that we will survive.... just!
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Takeover Deal Off on: October 19, 2015, 20:21:35 pm
Who says it has to be 10p? The 1st Land figure dropped from 33p to 27p in the pound IIRC, its up to the administrators to get the best deal for all concerned. That deal might be 1p, it might be £1 in the pound, who knows?!

I guess this is the point I am making.  If everything is as it seems at the moment, going into Admin might be the best result.  It would practically wipe out our debts, or at least seriously reduce them, and hopefully would end up with responsible new owners.

The club and fans would be the winner in this scenario, and anyone owed money would be serious losers.  The council would be included on that list as their money would be gone, and the people I would feel most sorry for would be the smaller businesses who would lose money and potentially put their businesses at risk.  But we would still have a club....
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Takeover Deal Off on: October 19, 2015, 18:14:20 pm
If we go into admin, won't we 'just' be paying 10p in the pound, so the £14m debt becomes £1.4m, still a boatload of cash, but more manageable for someone coming in.
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: September 26, 2015, 08:20:18 am
Will you?

You are owed congrats for by far the longest thread in THE history.

I'm actually staggered that someone went back almost 9 months to find a post I made just so they could say 'I told you so', that is absolutely hilarious.  It's nice at a time like this to see where peoples priorities are, thankfully most are looking to see what they can do to help in the situation, whilst for others a positive outcome is just being right!   Grin  maybe it shouldn't, but that makes my laugh so much.

But yes, it looks indeed that my optimism and trust were indeed misplaced.  To make matters worse I also drive an Audi so I having been unknowingly killing small children with my exhaust fumes.  It's been a bad week all round.

But yes Cobblerstone, the most important thing is you were right and the rest of us were wrong.

Surely I am the record holder for starting the loooooongest thread in this boards fine history?Huh?
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: June 21, 2015, 19:48:28 pm
I work in the construction industry, and projects halt regularly for brief contractual issues.  I wouldn't worry about the build stopping for a week or so, standard stuff in the uk market.
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: May 01, 2015, 15:39:31 pm

This may be a controversial opinion, but I have no problem with him going after people on here who have said anything that turns out to be libellous.  Some of the accusations levelled at DC on here have been extremely serious and I only hope people have the evidence to back up their comments.  It's a sad state of affairs that it comes to this, but the good thing to come out of it will be the return of this message board to its glory days before it was full of wind up merchants who are happy to make stuff up to try and create drama.

19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: December 31, 2014, 17:35:55 pm

It is just words at the mo, but I am going to trust him and his words.  I might look a fool in a years time, but I genuinely believe he will deliver and off the pitch we will be in the best position we ever have been.  On the pitch.... well who knows where the hell we will be.....

Wrong? You clown!
