Didn't KT say we were 18th or 19th?
Anyway, this annual list is flawed, includes loan players for whom we will never know what proportion (if any) we are paying for their wages, I think we can be pretty sure that NTFC are not paying Simpson £4.6k a week, or Leonard £3.9k a week.
And, I hope we are not paying Hylton more than a fiver a week.

Saints crowd is generally made up of people who are not allowed to go to football, by wives, husbands, parents etc.
The reasons for this are varied, but I would suggest social standing as being one. Relative success is another, maybe matchday experience. I know lads who I played football with and who played football all their life that go to the Saints and wouldn't even contemplate going to the Cobblers.
When there is a fixture clash and I pass Saints supporters on Weedon Road "How did The Cobblers get on mate? What did they play like?" me "Yeh ok, decent win really" Saints supporter " Great stuff, Saints beat Bristol" Me "I couldn't give a toss mate"
To be honest as a game rugby is OK enjoy watching the 6 Nations etc. It's just the supporters...
Surely your conversation above with Saints supporters shows that it's just the football supporters (well one at least) that have a problem.

'The new NHS'? Jesus are you for real?
I'm sure you realise that the implication is that you can't criticise the NHS (well only behind closed doors when you suffer from endless f*** ups) or Hoskins (well that of course does happen).

The rest of this month and March is brutal for fixtures.
Hopefully, we are not totally out of form when the potentially more winnable games come round in April.
I still think we will be closer to the drop zone than we would like come the end of the season, but the bookies are more confident - still have us at 80/1 to go down!
Could be worth a punt

A really difficult block so great to get 4 points on the board already. Shrewsbury will have a new manager which is always tricky and it doesn't get any tougher than Pompey/Bolton who are the 2 best teams in the division and have already beaten us comfortably.
Need Sherring and Sowerby back for these.

I didn't know Frank Rankmore played for Wales! Theo Foley was Irish.
Graham Moore was a superb player in my view. We signed him from Man U during the Div 1 season about halfway through if I remember correctly. His first game was against Chelsea at home just before Christmas which we were unlucky to lose 3 - 2. We played them again a couple of days later at Stamford Bridge and were unlucky to lose 1 - 0 to a late goal. I was at both games.
Chelsea games sealed our fate. Haven't liked the Fulham/Chelsea area since.

Great goal last night. You could say woeful defending but found space and planted himself in the ideal position. Tons more composure than the previous player he was. Not too shabby from Simpson either. That wasn't finished like a player who has struggled to find the net. If he can do that a bit more often it'll help our cause.
Simpson's movement and finish was top notch.

I am bemused by some of the comments on McW. ‘off the pace’ . Can only assume it was based on iFollow viewing? Some of Charlton’s midfield/ front 3 was very good and can make the best of players look ordinary. At times McW drew frequent applause for his timely interceptions, passing and tackling. He was severely handled by a couple of their players. In my view whilst we were unlucky to concede an OG which ensured the Addicts went in at the break level but we were only just very marginally the better side. In the second half it was desperate defending at times. Certainly to begin with Simpson looked off the pace until his goal and that energised him - so well done Simpson! I amongst others for a good third of the 2nd half were praying for a draw. As for the Bowie ‘penalty’ incident; the goal keeper spread himself and sent Bowie sprawling- seemed an obvious 21 carat gold one to all there, incl Home support! As for the ridiculous egoist conspiracy theory that the ref didn’t give it as he realised he had made a mistake in sending off their player! Their player was a dirty little devil who constantly fouled McW and left him flat out on the pitch requiring the attention of the physio! It was a brave performance dominated by Burges saves and the much maligned McGowan whose never say die attitude ensured we got all three points. Cue sheer jubilation in the away support at the third goal in the 97th.
I agree with you completely Evers. A good summary. I was beginning to doubt my sanity regarding other comments re McW. I thought he was excellent and was missed when he went off. Can't complain about scoring 3 good goals in one game and we started really well. Some of our passing and lack of movement 2nd half was not good and I'm sure JB told the lads the same.

A good half. Keep up the high press and it’s just a matter of time before they gift us another chance.
They look handy going forward. Defensively all over the place. I guess the same could be said about us!
Conor Coventry looks to be some player.
Yes, he cost £1m from West Ham apparently, we can only dream about such riches.

Having worked in central Laandon a bit in the past, my personal choice would be the following, train to Euston, get on the Northern line (remember there are TWO northern lines, you need Charing Cross side, NOT Bankside) jump off at CC and get the first train that is leaving, should be about five minutes. Jump off at London Bridge, and swap platforms for your Charlton train. Anybody who wants to risk changing the tube at Waterloo, at that time of day, needs to give their head a serious wobble.
My preferred choice was the Charlton coach from Whitstable. It was very quiet on the way home

Think Bowie went down too easily after trying to go the long way around the keeper…..seen them given though. The ‘red card’ was also a 50/50, I actually thought McGowan had committed the foul at first. Two decisions which could have gone either way and evened themselves out in the end. It’s funny going on the opponents messageboard and reading stuff suggesting we were a poor side, thought we played well in spells but at times in the second half it did seem like we were settling for a draw with them putting us under a bit of pressure, Burge taking an age with kicks when I was just thinking let’s get at them!! The sending off seemed to wake us up a bit and we got the winner we just about deserved on the night. Great scenes in the away end, and funny scenes in the home stands!! 40 points reached….lets push on, managerless Shrews at home on Saturday so another three points in the bag…. Agree with all this. I thought we were excellent first half but seemed lethargic second half and resorted to overhit passes, especially when Charlton were on top with 10 men. Great ending though and 3 good goals.

At some point someone is going to ask some serious questions about the training regime. 12 day break, and we break another 3 players? And also it wouldnt be amiss to state the nature of these many "knocks".
Couldn't agree more. Ridiculous.

Can't be bothered to look up the dates or even years, so here roughly are my best memories. 1. Beating Posh away 0-4 in 1963? We were cruising div. 3 and at last we were far better than them since they joined the league. On our way to even greater heights. I think we took about 10k there. 2. Beating Newcastle 3-0 in 65/66 in div. 1 and thinking this division is p*ss easy. 3. The Wilder/Holmes Stevenage away 2-3 after being 2-0 down. 4. Wemberley v Swansea and John Frain supplying the fitting climax. 5. 3-1 v the Arsenal in ther FA cup late 50's, on this day I became a true Cobbler.
