The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever?

You're too kind, thank you! A Black Sheep or even better a Jennings Cumberland from our Cumbrian friends to rub in the 3 points! Poured respectfully into a Nonic glass if you can find one, and pause just a moment to let it settle wondering at the golden haze as it reveals a clear elixir of life. As you slowly kiss the glass for your first sip, take in that glorious aroma for a second...before diving it. We will of course be providing our own superb range of craft beers, naming them could be fun. However for a full all day venue as this, providing all the usual demand products required we also need a major brewery tie up which could be some fun negotiating with the plans we have. The tech services package and the supply an installation of the in house brewery would all be important factors. They pay for all of this. We were toying with ideas tonight and one proposal is to sub the coffee section to Starbucks or the like. Its worked at one place here as the lost revenue from supplying in-house is more than supplemented by the fixed income and the draw of a large name. You feed from that and can concentrate on delivering a high quality product yourself. The in house restaurant gains more covers from the exposure gained from coffee visitors. Unless Evers is a barista? Although preliminary and experimental, what we have so far stacks up (as a venue) so it should make interesting viewing when completed. Enjoy that pint! Although they're are not a major brewery, what about trying to get Phipps on board Steve? I must admit I've never had a bad pint in the Albion Bar, also would we really need a major brewery if we were selling a good selection of Craft Beers? Just a suggestion mate, it would also be good to have a local brewery on board. I'll have a pint for you as well tomorrow, and a big thanks for the updates.

That's not a bad draw. Local opposition that should bring a fair few fans. One of Calderwood's former clubs. A good test for us. Has the makings of a decent cup tie.

The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Which League Would You Prefer NTFC to be playing regularly in?

Where would you like to see NTFC established? As we are in L2 against the likes of Crawley, Mansfield, Stevenage and Carlisle? Perhaps L1 and games against Sh*tboro, Portsmouth, Accrington and Oxford (with the odd fallen giant thrown in) or dream of the Championship and trips to Birmingham, Reading, Sheffield U and Cardiff (with the yearly prem rejects - could be Arsenal the way they are heading ) Genuine question, want to understand what fans want from their club Are you really expecting any other answer than Championship?

I know where you are coming from mate, but I think as a club we have an identity, L1 is where we should be IMO but we need a few improvements in our infrastructure to make that commercially sustainable and not reliant on a sugar daddy to be bankrolling the club constantly. Under the current plans that isn’t going to happen, I am not in the Trusts camp when it comes to DB not making a profit from the land BUT it also needs to be fair, we need to protect our future.
UTC.
Very good post Manny

Hoskins is a model professional: hardworking, robust, always willing to fill in anywhere to do a job for the team. His character is absolutely unimpeachable and he should be applauded and appreciated by our fanbase.
However, like a lot of 'utility players', the constant switching of position has probably been to the detriment of his development as a footballer. Ben Tozer was a similar victim of the 'utility curse' when he was here and Johnson tried to turn him into a defensive midfielder; in recent years, Michael Duff has allowed him a sustained period of development in his natural position of centre back at Cheltenham and he has now blossomed into a title-winning captain who has just moved clubs for a substantial six-figure fee.
I think the constant switching around has contributed to Hoskins' main weakness: his 'footballing brain' and lack of 'positional sense' - too often he shoots when he should pass, dallies on the ball too long, dribbles up a blind alley or chooses to pass to the wrong teammate.
If we continue to play him as a first choice winger in a 4-4-2 I would be concerned about our overall creativity. His crossing simply isn't good enough to play on the wing in a 4-4-2 IMO, and he doesn't get enough assists. He was brought to the club as a striker and he should return to this position IMO, particularly as Brady called him the most 'natural finisher at the club' (ahead of Rose and BAS) last season. As others have said, he's also good as one of the three behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1, where his capacity to carry the ball at pace can cause problems.
Ultimately, he's been a great servant and I'm glad he's in our squad. It's certainly not his fault that he's been played out of position so much. Managers love him due to his workrate, pressing ability and physical fitness: it's no surprise that they've constantly found a way to shoehorn him in somewhere, but this has often been at the expense of our overall tactical coherence - hence the 'Hoskins dilemma'. However, if Brady is serious about producing 'bums off seat' football and developing us into a team ultimately capable of sustaining league one status then he needs to resolve the 'Hoskins dilemma' once and for all.
Great post Bungle

13th Feb 1965. Northampton Town 2 v Preston North End 1. Brown, Robson Godfrey
Attendance 14,101 I was 8yrs old, sat with my Dad in the main stand. In answer to the question, I think 7/8yrs old is about the right age for the induction.
