This league is so tight that last week these wallies were going crazy because they'd gone level with us in 3rd and today they've a 95th minute Colchester goal to thank for being as high as 6th
I must admit I did have to smile when this result came in.

Very good win and some real positives today, mostly going forward, which makes a nice change. Pinnock, Hoskins and Sowerby were excellent and Lewis improved dramatically in the second half. Zimba and Eppiah also looked very sharp. One or two moments of sublime skill from Pinnock today. Some good passing and much more pleasing on the eye.
The only downside for me was Mills who made at least 3 shocking errors which could have led to goals against more ruthless opposition and he looked dodgy throughout the match. He may be our only option at left back while Koiki is out, but I think it's too much to make him captain. Horsfall seems to be more vocal and leads by example with his play.
Good post Madrid, you summed it up well. I thought also that McGowan had a decent game today as well as the ones you mentioned. As for Mills, he is definitely a cause for concern. Anybody have any idea when Koiki will fit.

This x10.
We were too nice and stand-offish yesterday. Was clear after 15 mins how the game would progress. The ref not getting cards out or being stronger was a green-light for Rovers to carry-on for the full 90.
(well I say 90, would be lucky if the ball was actually even in play for 30)

Dave Bowen did it; he managed to sign some very good players like Kiernan, Moore, Hails, Martin, Leek,Large, Kurila, Hunt and so on. The Club had very limited funds for players but I learnt later that he was able to offer tempting signing on cash offers.
Our main issue is maybe actually achieving promotion and then having to buy 'better' players; more so if we reach the championship!
At the moment we have a good defense, rightly identified by some on here as of League 1 standard. At least that meets Bowen's first prerequisite of a decent defense.
There was some help Evers. A lot of the George Hudson fee £27.500 from Coventry came from Cyril Cripps who owned Pianoforte Supplies, later to be called Simplex in Roade. Did we actually pay a fee for Don Martin? (RIP)

Our support is always to quick to detract from the opposition rather than praise us when we win.
It was a well co-ordinated game plan from the management and lads today. A couple of great goals from free play, a rarity in itself. Well done lads.
Only criticism would be the atmosphere. But early kick offs normally quieten it down…

I think we play better against the "better" ( higher placed) more open teams.
Not sure we have the guile & creativity to break down a team that parks the Bus.
I agree sx, I was saying the same to the lads who sit near me during the Barrow game. We just simple ran out of ideas against them.

Good win yesterday in difficult conditions. Thought we were very professional and put in a very solid team performance. it really is results that count now. Same v Barrow will be fine. UTC

To be fair a point away from the in form team is probably not a bad result. Even though they were down to 10 men. Sounds like the performance wasn’t great at all. But Sutton are in great form, so a point away, ensuring they don’t pull away from us, isn’t terrible.
Given 2 poor loses against Swindon and Crawley, getting a draw from Forest Green and Sutton is probably half decent just to stabilise things after those loses.
Just need to now make sure we get back to winning ways and don’t allow the others to overtake us.
Definitely need to work out how we can score some goals consistently though.

Best game at Sixfields for ages. I must admit I was really looking forward to this game, to see how we would cope against a Lge 1 club. They are a good side but we matched them all the way, we really stuck together as a team. The crowd could sense it and really got behind the lads. The only negative was a lack of home support. UTC
