Hollywood save. Pickford does this quite regularly.

Seemingly it fools Everbrite into rating him.

If he’s signed as sub keeper, I’d tolerate it. But no way should we be spending good money on him as a first choice when he’s played 19 games this season.
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Exeter Sat 20th. on: April 20, 2024, 22:05:05 pm
I was very disappointed with the result but even more with your opinion of Burge!

Well that confirms my opinion is correct. Cheers ☺️ None of what I said there was wrong.

I welcome you counter debating any point.

It was always a lame duck. Propped up purely for me 😁😁😁

Cute 🥰 Nothing to do with the management and players frequently talking about it. But glad you still think this Nige 🫂

This thread seems a little underused, and has lost its impact lately. Shame.   Grin

You were sad enough to get the thread so could have topped it up with the data.Sadly with the pretty dull end to the season, enthusiasm dipped. Good to see you enjoy the mediocrity at the end of the year, fans like you mate are what we need 👍🏽 😊

But Fleetwood and Exeter do see back to back defeats to end the block. Sorry for not feeling like celebrating the two losses like you Pete 😘

Block 10 is the solitary game at Barnsley. Excited for your contributions through the week 🥳
5  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Play-off watch on: April 20, 2024, 19:28:30 pm
If Lincoln make the play offs I predict they'll win them as the form since Christmas had been really good

A massive part of me wants them to.

The other part of me feels dirty but think I’d be okay with the Scum going up, just to save another battering at their place, and instead they can have a year of being battered.
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under & Out of Contract on: April 20, 2024, 19:25:03 pm
I think today we got the answer to if JB would be trying to bring Simpson back for next season as he was totally left out of the 18 man squad.

In central defence I expect Sherring will get an offer, we already have Guthrie and a fit again Magloire under contract. I also think we will try to keep Willis.

Full backs McGowan, Koiki and Brough are contracted and I expect Odimayo to get an offer.

Would not be surprised if we tried to ship out Monthe and Lintott.

In midfield McWilliams has not been the same player since his injury and before had added surging forward runs to his game but I think he and Fox to get offers.

GK I would not offer Burge another contract, you cannot have your first choice keeper missing over half of the season and have to play rookies.

Attack Appere works hard but needs to add more goals to his game, JB has been consistently playing him so it would come as no surprise if he was made an offer. It would not surprise me if we tried to bring Springett back next season, quite telling that he was in the squad today and Simpson wasn't. We have only seen brief cameos but he shows promise and could be a useful squad player next season.

Ding Ding Ding. This.
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Players Under & Out of Contract on: April 20, 2024, 17:45:18 pm
I’d definitely say bye to Burge. Too many clangers in him and a shocking fitness record for a keeper.

We should have thrown a decent sized contract at Sherring with a sizeable sell on clause. I expect he’s one that we might look back on in a few years and say “what if”.

I’d keep Appere, McWilliams and Odimayo, but could probably cope if most of that list left. Most of them have been sick notes.

Thankfully this was done with two months of the season to spare.

Other than Sherring, I wouldn’t offer a deal to any of them.

This is to the guy who’s been standing in the front row of the North Stand for the past few games.

Shouting Waghorn, you’re sh*T every touch was a bit funny as he missed a howler.

The next game you did it wasn’t that funny but meh.

Doing it to their keeper each touch he was when we didn’t test him at any point, was embarrassing.

Please kindly drop this comedy act for next season 😂

Here’s the issues with Lee Burge, and why imo, finding a better option will be manageable mate.

1) Injury record given he’s a keeper is a joke. Never seen anything like it in the 30 years I’ve been going.
2) Since his injury’s, he’s not commanding in his box and he’s not mobile.
3) There was a “punch” he did in the first half which was the limpest attempt at a punch I’ve ever seen from a keeper in my life. Pathetic.
4) His distribution has got worse the more he’s played.
5) He made a diving save to his left in the first half which made St Eds Cobbler and I laugh out loud. For anyone even slightly mobile, they’d have stepped a yard to the left and picked it up.

I think a mid table league 2 team will be interested in him and he’ll do a competent job there. But when he got “injured” after letting in the first goal, I think was kind of hoping they’d just give Dadge a go to see what he was like.
10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Exeter Sat 20th. on: April 20, 2024, 17:24:14 pm
Presume you just forgot to mention Appere? If he gets a new deal I’ll be ‘very’ concerned

I didn’t mention him because I chose the two who seem to be the most popular names for resigning.

But absolutely agree. Apperes time in this level is sadly over.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Exeter Sat 20th. on: April 20, 2024, 17:16:33 pm
Hoskins has been dreadful for months, his attitude is obviously why he wasn’t starting, time to let the scamp run free.
McWilliams passing is L2.
As for Appere can anyone tell me what he brings? He’s no good in the air, no pace, doesn’t score many time for him to find a L2 club along with Hoskins.

All spot on mate.

Not sure its just the injury he suffered, he's given the impression that he's got the arse ever since a potential move away in January didn't materialise

Also agree with this.

12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Exeter Sat 20th. on: April 20, 2024, 16:12:01 pm
After today.

Goodbye Burge and McWilliams.

Hoskins also, Christ. Abysmal effort from him today when he came off the bench and gave the impression of someone who couldn’t give a flying f**k.
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Claret Army on: April 19, 2024, 16:26:48 pm
I saw it  in both red and green Deepcut.

And definitely prefer it in green  Grin
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: FA Cup Replays on: April 18, 2024, 14:21:32 pm
The thing is, you cant have it both ways...

When we played Barrow, whilst I wanted us to win Id have taken the defeat over a bloody replay. The last thing we needed at the time was another midweek game. I didn't bother going to that game.

I would be more inclined to go to an FA Cup match if I knew there was definitely going to be a 'result'. I am sure there will be many more like me...

If I had it my way, Id scrap the league cup and the silly pizza cup. Then *perhaps* the FA Cup would regain its old magic. There's too many games. Even 'little clubs' like us don't take any of these games seriously...

The 'reward' to progress in the FA Cup needs to be 5 times what it is as well. Shift the £ over from another pot to pay for it. Its most certainly there. Certainly from Round3 onwards. Then the bigger clubs might regain an interest as well, because after all its all about £. If the chance of earning big big money (without just getting a lucky draw at Old Trafford) is there for league1/2/Non league teams to progress to round3 then they will field their strongest teams, attendances would be much bigger etc.

Make an FA Cup run a game changer like it was 30/40 years ago.

I’d gladly bin off the pizza monstrosity. Still proudly not watched a game since the prem kids were introduced. And I used to enjoy that too as a proper good chance to make Wembley. I’d never attend a final while this format continues so happy for it to go.

But the League Cup has given us so many awesome memories!

Liverpool, Reading, WBA, West Ham, Bolton, Norwich. Leading Spurs and saving a Ginola pen. Scaring United, Newcastle away etc. I love that cup 😍
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Kieron Bowie on: April 18, 2024, 10:24:32 am
I'm sure the club will be having conversations with him / his agent about signing him on. I just think he will want a Championship or Scottish Premier team.

Exactly. It’s far from likely that he ends with us, but we will 💯 have a conversation.

16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Kieron Bowie on: April 17, 2024, 20:33:58 pm
I know that it’s been said it’ll be his last home game for us.

But if he’s out of contract and you don’t believe that we will offer him something in an attempt to sign him, you’re deluded
17  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Steve Evans on: April 17, 2024, 13:08:04 pm
To make it cobblers related:

Stevenage and Burton are two teams who’ll definitely be finishing below us next year.
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Welcome Nigel Le Quesne on: April 17, 2024, 12:23:18 pm
I’ve had a few chats with Beds at away games and agree on a lot that he says, despite that not being popular 😂

What I would say is that a 3k increase in the south stand would make the ground look ridiculous. We would be talking of an away end not far off the size of Oakwells haha. It would tower above the rest of the ground.

What I would suggest is 1.5k added to both the North and South, would make a much more aesthetically pleasing ground.

Nice one Deepcut. Tidy each way return of Minella Indo and the wife and I had I Am Maximus too, so a very successful National.

Yes please

I’ll go halves with Danny, but taking the full accolade and praise when we win and the prize will be staying in Northamptonshire.
