Thanks Lizard. We would need an average gate of 7384 in each of our remaining eight games to achieve a 7000 average for the season. Anything is possible thought with the way some gates are being reported!!
4 figure away followings from Bolton, Rovers, Charlton, Derby, and probably Vale and Carlisle if they’re still in survival battles. It won’t be far off.

When you think that apart from the Bowen climb, we've only been above our current position 4 or 5 times in 126 years. When these opportunities present themselves, you have to give yourself every chance, however slim. History suggests we'll be fighting against relegation next season.
Does anyone disagree with this post?

Never thought I’d see a few seemingly taking joy in dismissing other fans for believing in a play off place 😂
Whilst it is unlikely, it’s still on for now. People forget that our rivals have to play each other. We’ve lost 3 since October in the league, so why not remain a bit optimistic until mathematically we can’t.
Barnsley still have to play Bolton twice, Leyton Orient, Derby, Portsmouth, Blackpool and us. They’re dropping points to rivals.
Stevenage still have to play Blackpool,Derby, Posh, Leyton Orient, Bolton and Oxford. They’re dropping points.
Oxford still have to play Pompey, twice Blackpool, us, Leyton Orient, Bolton Posh and Stevenage. They’re dropping points.
Blackpool still have to play Stevenage, Oxford, Posh, Bolton, Orient, Pompey, Us, Derby and Barnsley. They’re dropping. Points.
We’ve got Pompey, Bolton, Orient, Oxford, Posh, Blackpool, Derby and Barnsley. We will drop points.

So, here we are, beginning of 2024 and only 10 league home games to go! Doesn't time fly?
We're still well on target for the highest ever average League attendance at Sixfields (currently 6,775) and if we keep this up, you'll have to go back to the swinging sixties to find a higher one. Still have some big followings to come too, Derby, Bristol Rovers, Bolton and Charlton.
Kelvin must be highly delighted, hopefully the extra revenue gained might be put to good use this month. Happy days.
One day left, would be a bit of a shame if there wasn’t anything used after record breaking crowds, but not too confident. On topic, is there a chance of averaging over 7k this year?

If McWilliams and Sowerby are going to be out for any longer than a couple of weeks then we need to sign a defensive midfielder immediately, Hondermark and Pinnock as central midfielders are completely ineffective defensively. FACT.
I think you were a bit too generous mate. Hondermark as central midfielder is completely ineffective, would have been accurate.

I really don't think that the gap to 6th not changing makes any difference and a couple of new faces also would probably be not enough. Should we get 2 points per game from our remaining 18 games (unlikely) we would finish the season on 76 points and the 6th placed team (currently 9 points in front with a game in hand) would only need 1.42 points per game against the 1.81 points per game they have so far achieved.
Of course it makes a difference. Look at how many of the teams above us that we still have to play. What’s the issue with actually having a bit of aspiration? I’ll take the safe assumption that you were around in the 60s and saw our decade of highs and lows. For me born in 89, I’ve never seen us break the second tier, and doing that once would probably satisfy me. This season, we have overwhelmingly beaten the season target of surviving, and before Jan should have thought, “this is a real opportunity, will we get a better one”? Sadly there are too many fans and board members who are happy to knock people who believe that better can be achieved. Enjoy the moment in being correct I guess?

Block 6 fixtures update: Wigan H (L 2-1) 1-1 Charlton A 3-2 Shrewsbury H (L 1-0) 0-2 Portsmouth A (L 3-0) Bolton H (L 2-1)
Shrewsbury complete the double over us. The next two both have an opportunity to do the same. I’d wager 7 points was the target for this set, can we reach it?
Still to come. Block 7 : Orient A (D 2-2) Bristol Rovers H (L 2-1) Oxford A (W 2-1) Burton A (W 2-0) Charlton H (W3-2)
Block 8 : Posh A (W 1-0) Cambridge A (W 2-1) Blackpool H (W 2-1) Wycombe A (L 1-0) Derby H (L 4-0)
Block 9 : Reading A (W 3-1) Port Vale H (L 1-0) Carlisle H (D 2-2) Fleetwood A (W 3-0) Exeter H (W 2-0)
Block 10: Barnsley A (L 2-1)

Well the gap to sixth hasn’t changed so yes. But as said elsewhere, it’s up to KT and DB to find some funds for at least a couple of players.

Well who knows what have might have happened today had we signed a couple of decent players. That's the whole point, the team as it stood is not good enough to crack on, but most of our supporters are happy with what we've got, just read the transfer thread.
Pretty much exactly my thoughts during and after the game too when discussing it on the way to the car. We’d have been 6 points off play offs if we’d turned up, and the reason we didn’t starts with how awful the midfield was. If positive reinforcements had been made, we’d have all been believing. As it is, just wasn’t our day today. These games happen but defo a frustrating one.

https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/sport/football/top-scorer-hoskins-says-in-form-cobblers-wont-be-getting-carried-away-4491949Super Sam talking about the blocks of 5; if you can find it amongst the 473528 adverts that pop up! Glad you are keeping these blocks up to date, Dan. I was looking forward to going to Oxford but now it clashes with my allotment AGM and I'm standing for re-election on the committee. So I've got a big decision to make. I was hoping it would be in the following block or later on in this block. Either way, its the first time an allotment meeting has clashed with an important game in one of our blocks. I'm seething. Thank you Drilling, yes he does. "At the start of the season, we break the games down into blocks of five and we sort of review it after every five games and see where we are. "But we just have to keep doing what we are doing, and everything will take care of itself." When a Cobblers legend brings it up, we know it’s here to stay. Thank you Super Sam. Good luck with your AGM mate, get that vote!

Atkins 71, Carr 73 and Bowen *51
*That was when it was 2pts for a win, that would equate to 71.
Thanks John. I have to say I’d forgotten how well the Wilson season started. It must have properly derailed towards the end!

Budgets presumably get evaluated quite frequently when circumstances are better/ worse than forecasted.
Perhaps two examples of this could be:
1) Current league position. 2) Our highest gates since the 60s, thus far higher ticket and match day revenue that in decades.

It’s potentially good timing to be playing those both as they’ve been a bit iffy recently. Apparently Bolton were very fortunate on Tuesday night.
Definitely would be helped if Sowerby is fit for them 👍🏽 It’ll be interesting to see when Oxford is rescheduled for. This block is the hardest on paper that we have, and if we get through it fairly unscathed, who knows…
