1061  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: 'If we don't make the play-offs, Wilder has failed?' on: October 14, 2015, 15:31:06 pm
This is really not the time to start raising questions about Chris Wilder.    In the most appalling of circumstances, he has got us to within three points of the top of the table.     In my humble opinion, that is a brilliant achievement against the backdrop of everything going on at Sixfields right now.

I have said it before and I say it again - only one person at Sixfields deserves our anger right now and it sure ain't Chris Wilder.

I don't think anyone is angry at Chris Wilder, as someone correctly pointed out in another thread its just nice to talk about the more football side of things rather than off field matters. People are allowed to analyse managers, thats just football regardless of what's happening off the field.
1062  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sunday Sermon on: October 14, 2015, 14:49:07 pm
This forum is for Cobblers fans to discuss the Cobblers, it's not all about the redevelopment, though some would like it to be. My threads have all been replied to a decent amount of times and have raised discussion. That's what this forum is for.

I didn't mention the redevelopment until you did.... Re-read your posts.

Here we go again. Its clear that you believe that the credit should go to DC for the squad thats been assembled, amply backed up that you wanted Wilder sacked just a few weeks ago. Lets agree to disagree.

Interesting that you have finally now bitten at the political bait I cast a few weeks ago on a couple of occasions, although you won't admit to it!  Grin

In all seriousness, you and Hallam have succeeded in driving me away from this board for a few weeks now.

Between you you have managed to somehow provide a balance to the DC debate, a balance that I passionately do not think should exist. I will leave you both to constantly swipe at anybody who speaks against the Chairman, that after all has been the case for several months now.

If I ran this board Id ban the two of you. Its for Cobblers fans, not people who frankly do not give a sh1t about whats going on with our Football Club. Trolls x 2.

It really is like having a discussion with a denier of the holocaust. And its become impossible to avoid it, every single thread is taken over by one of you or both of you!

This is and will continue to be one of the most ridculous posts on this forum.

This.

Maybe not so crazy after all?

We are not stuck with the redev. It just happens to be the biggest threat to our club yet. or had you not realised?
Unfortunately it will not go away no matter how many threads you start.

Don't burst his bubble, he seems to think this thread is the answer to all our troubles  Grin
1066  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sunday Sermon on: October 14, 2015, 14:41:13 pm
Really?

Good choice of name, I'll ignore your advice if that's okay. No new threads means we're stuck with the redevelopment.

Don't see how my name is relevant but cool Grin I'm sure posting these kind of threads is going to solve the redevelopment issue.

I'm vehemently opposed/against the way Franchise FC came about, however Winkelman and the MK Council have absolutely wiped the floor with Cardoza and NBC since Stadium:MK came in to being. The whole set up and demeanor of the place is poles apart.

Since 2009 Cardoza has generally led NTFC downhill and this is the nadir.

Since 2009? What makes you say that?

Let's hope it's not great squad no ground.

How can you possibly defend DC.

Funds given, planning given.  The construction side is the easy part.

Should have just got on with it.  Look at what the Saints have achieved.

DC has thrown millions at the club in recent years, appointed the likes of Boothroyd and Johnson who failed to get us out of the division when other teams with far smaller budgets have been able to do so. Look at the likes of Bury, Rochdale, Burton with small budgets and far more success in recent years than us. Yes the off field situation is a mess and DC has damaged his reputation because of it, but he has provided numerous managers with the budget to get us out this league and several have failed. He deserves more credit than he's got.

Sorry Marvo, you're clutching at straws here. Pointless thread.
1070  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / 'If we don't make the play-offs, Wilder has failed?' on: October 14, 2015, 13:25:55 pm
I was hearing some guys talking about what would be classed as a 'good season' this year. In my opinion, anything less than play-offs is a big disappointment. Thoughts?
1071  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge (A) 17th Oct on: October 13, 2015, 08:53:38 am
Having less than 3000 for a home game hasn't affected Burton one jot, they got promotion last season and are top of League 1 in their maiden season at that level.

We've taken 3000 to away matches and not put in a performance on more occassions than we have turned in a good one.

Over the past few seasons Dagenham and Stevenage have been in League 1 while we've toiled and just escaped relegation from the football league. How many times recently have we finished above Accrington or Morecambe?

Meanwhile Oxford and Bristol Rovers are well supported yet have ended up in the conference. I really don't think it matters how many fans turn up as long as the players have the right attitude and the manager has put together a good team.

Portsmouth get 18000 yet have free fallen through the leagues and are in their second season with us.

So, I conclude, the myth that a high number of fans turning up and supporting you makes a difference is a load of bollocks.

I can guarantee that if all games were played behind closed doors many results would be different. At times players feed off the energy from the crowd. To suggest that fans NEVER positively affect players performances is absolutely ridiculously.

Depends on how much the other options are willing to pay, if there are others.

At Sixfields watching the real games, enjoying being a cobblers fan. Not letting these little things get me wound up like they do some owners others on here.  Grin

Some people can learn a thing or two from you my friend

Crazycobbler has a point but admit its a bit tenuous! I can remember packed support at away games in the past like Burton, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham where it did appear to make a difference. Of course I can remember games when it didn't like Rotherham away couple of years ago. For me there is nothing better than being in a Cobblers crowd in full swing.

Exactly, sometimes it will make a difference sometimes it won't, that's the point I'm trying to make.
1075  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge (A) 17th Oct on: October 09, 2015, 10:24:56 am
Doesn't appear to affect Burton Albion players.

I didn't say it did affect Burton players, I said so it 'NEVER has ANY effect' whatsoever? Do you think we'd have beat liverpool in cup a few years ago without the 4,000 that went? Or do you think the players were slightly more up for it hearing and seeing 4000 people behind them away from home? My point is yes its not always going to make a difference, but there are times when a good away following will make a difference.
1076  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cambridge (A) 17th Oct on: October 06, 2015, 09:45:57 am
Yeah I'm sure they look up at the away stand when they come out & think 'Can't believe there aren't 800 here today, may as well not bother now.'

Don't think anyone quite said that but in essence, you are saying that the amount of supporters never has any effect on the players?

Cardoza.

Has to be and if it's not we should all claim it is.

Although I agree it probably is Cardoza, I'm surprised and a little confused as to why and how so many people are being put off. The team is on a decent run, playing some good stuff (especially away from home) and are finally starting to get a little more consistency. I think some people are too wrapped up in all the drama off the pitch and are forgetting what supporting a football club is all about. I don't think enough people realise that a lack of support isn't going to change the current situation, it will only potentially damage the performances of the team.
