The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Mansfield (A) Boxing Day

I was behind the goal for the final league game of that season at Mansfield, a week before the play-off games. That end is now the home end, for some reason they switched the ends round shortly after that play-off game.
I was also sat behind the goal for the league game, but the play off game I was in that terrible stand on the side that’s now all boarded up. The dugouts used to be that side too so I remember their star man Liam Lawrence getting lots of stick when ever he came over for a drink.

Did anyone else notice that Jay Williams was sat amongst the subs, although he wasn’t a sub he was wearing cobblers training kit. I’m not sure what his situation is whether he’s now left Harrogate after his time there, but maybe JB has got him back on trial like with Cam McWilliams?

Do we know when the club will actually tell us how much the season tickets will cost next season? Id imagine theres a few just waiting on that to make their decision on what to do.

Whoever would have said that DCL would ha e been a Premiership star let alone England player when he was with us . He really didn’t show any sign of that at all that i noticed
When he was signed I remember there was a lot of unhappy people as he was the replacement when Toney left, which was understandable as he was just a youngster from sheffield united in the division above. But straight away you could see his talent, held the ball up well, could win headers and knew how to finish. Quality player.

The 3 subs after the penalty was total panic, he wouldn't of done it if they hadn't of scored. And to not even bring on either Adams or Marshall who are the only two creative players was bizarre. Curle really needs to find what his best starting 11 is now with all these players coming back, we had a strong team available today and totally wasted it.

I don't blame Hull for not taking tests after seeing the fall-out from Leyton Orient this week. It's sensible that lower league clubs don't risk losing players for a couple of weeks especially when it has such minimal impact.
It's a shame that no fans are able to go and watch still. I can only hope some form of common sense prevails and fans can get back inside stadiums soon.
A big test for us on the pitch against one of the stronger sides. With a few players back from injury we should give them a good game, hopefully better than when my Cobblers childhood hero Jamie Forrester scored against us when Hull last visited Sixfields.
Although later that season we did beat them in the away fixture... With a beauty from Marc Richards.

When they said 1000 maximum I was expecting them to be dotted around the ground testing the various entry and exit paths, not crammed into one corner
They were across one stand, not into one corner. It look very well organised in fact.

Anybody over 30 wearing a football shirt and paying around £50 for the privilege should have a serious look at themselves. What posesses an overweight man (it's mostly men) to don the uniform of athletes and then claim it looks good?
Otherwise I like the away shirt although I kinda wish it was the home shirt.
Just to clarify, not all 30 and overs are overweight. So you may be speaking for yourself here.

I saw the highlights on I follow and Sean McWilliams really lays into Roberts whilst still on his knees
I also noticed this straight away, which I found strange because if I remember right, when McWilliams was first coming onto the scene, I remember him coming on as a sub, giving the ball away with his first touch and the other team scoring. Think it was Fleetwood at home.

Might be controversial but I actually don't want us to get in the play offs.
I don't think we are good enough to win them and couldn't stand another Bradford style final.
I also think it would leave us exposed if we somehow did get promoted as we are nowhere near ready for another tilt at league one. I know you can't pick and choose when you get promoted but my preference would be to let KC evolve his own squad during the summer. Get the finances on an even keel and have a real go at it next season.
But when is the right time to get promotion if this is the case then? We won league 2 by a long way yet we didn't do any good in league 1 the two seasons we had back there, no one knows what could happen, which players would be brought in etc... If we have a chance then lets just go for!!

On the penalty miss - Have I missed something or did the ball go out of play and the game carried on after it rebounded off the advertising boards ? I thought it at the time and have now just seen the replay . It didn’t go for a goal kick at any stage
It clearly just hits the post. That is all.

What does “the other side of his right hand post” mean? If it means right in front of goal I’ll agree. The finish is not angled, it’s just smashed straight into the net.
I’m glad that we can agree that the second goal went straight through his legs.
If you are saying the other was going wide, I won’t argue as I was not “right behind it”. I’m not sure why Taylor bothered to make the effort if it was so clearly going wide though.
I’d still like enlightening on these other match changing saves though. He made a good stop right before we scored the second but other than that I’m struggling.
I can only assume from reading your posts you've never played football in your life. Ive seen goalkeepers and defenders make saves and blocks when the ball could be going wide, but they aren't too know for sure so they still make the stop. Ive also seen the ball go through the goalkeepers legs before. It seems some people still can't let it go, accept Cornell had a good game and get over it.
