1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: January 2023 Transfer Window on: January 27, 2023, 21:37:49 pm
Matty!

Matty Stevens would be a decent loan signing, last I heard of him he got a long term injury, someone like him until the end of the season would be a good bit of business.

I don't mind us signing players like Will Hondermarck who we may not have heard of, they strike me as low risk, if they do well - great, if not - little loss, at the end of the day there are lots of young players out there who if given a chance could shine, it's just not many managers out there can afford to give them a chance. I like the idea of us being a club that gives chances.

2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The owners - Why the hate? on: January 27, 2023, 21:28:59 pm
To be fair, keeping a club going through times when there were no fans at games must have been hard, I'm actually surprised that not many non league clubs have ended up closing.

We are in the football league, we have been competitive during the pandemic, that's better than a club in free fall going out of the league etc, I'm grateful to the owners for their continued support.

I used to think "we can do better" "we should do better" but now I'm more relaxed.
3  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Vaccine Resistance on: January 27, 2023, 21:21:49 pm
To be honest, if people choose not to be vaccinated that is their own choice, why should they?

It was obvious early on that the vaccine does not stop people spreading it because the case numbers continued going up with the number of vaccinated people, all that 'get a jab and save your family' was rubbish.

I'm vaccinated but I don't hold anything against those who are not and it made me angry when I heard people saying sports people and celebrities should get vaccinated to encourage people to follow suit, present people with accurate data and facts and they'll do what's right to them.

False facts and false data will cause more damage long term, imagine if we have another pandemic, half the population will be like 'hmm they lied last time' and the lack of trust will result in many lost lives.

The worlds gone mad, I can promise you it was a better place 30 years ago.

Totally agree, I look at the way things from the olden days get censored these days like they didn't happen and think it's a shame.

Perhaps showing people the way things used to be in the olden days would help them understand how things can be better, making out they didn't happen isn't the answer.
5  General Category / General Chat / Re: NHS on: January 27, 2023, 21:07:55 pm
Look at the start of the pan-dee-mick, we were building hospitals that we didn't have enough staff to fill... If the planning from the start is not right - the rest isn't going to work.

Boris said we were going to get x thousands new police officers - and now the police force is full of paedophiles, rapists and wife beaters.

The sad thing about the strikes is that people will actually die because of them, on the other hand if you give pay rises out easily you will end up with folk going on strike every year.

A nurse could be protesting with a flag on the street while a patient dies, it's one of those things where there are no winners.
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Vote: Curle In or Curle Out on: August 17, 2019, 22:13:35 pm
I have to be honest, polls on fans forums are not a good thing, it's like trying to influence people or the club.

We all know that people connected to the club read forums, hence as soon as someone writes something slanderous - the forum admin will be contacted.

Now with a poll, other people who may be on the fence regarding Keith may think ohh x amount think he should go so I'll join that side.

Forums also have a lot of readers who just browse but don't sign up, if they read a forum and think everyone wants Keith out - it could influence their views and when they have their half time pasty and chat to the guy sitting next to them the negativity could soon spread.

Also, polls can be manipulated to push agendas, there are a host of proxy sites on Google, you can make as many free emails up via outlook, gmail, GMX et al and then sign up on here to vote.

Of course a forum administrator may now tell me that - no this can't be done - people can only have 1 account, if they have more than 1 we will know about it straight away.

I will say... wrong, if you go to the 3 mobile network home page, they offer a free sim card with 200 mb of data pre loaded - you don't need to top up to get it. It's called "internet with legs" apparently other networks offer this too.

Anyone can order as many of them as they like, pop one in their phone, sign up and that's another Hotel End account, pop another one and repeat - another Hotel End account.

I feel this needed to be pointed out because sometimes you will see certain local journalists saying how an online poll revealed x amount of fans think this or think that... totally ignoring the fact that said online could be manipulated so easily and may not really reflect the opinion that it claims.
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Macc Town 17/8/19 on: August 17, 2019, 19:44:31 pm
I honestly would love KC, or any of the other managers, to educate me because I believe Hoskins hinders the team due to his lack of end product BUT ALL of them have consistantly picked him!!!

Maybe he's just a nice guy to chat to and have in the dressing room, if he does jokes maybe they are good ones.
8  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Macc Town 17/8/19 on: August 17, 2019, 17:01:52 pm
I don't think we should panic until Keith starts saying 'it's fine margins'
When everything becomes a fine margin it's time to release Keith Curle and bring in Kevin Wilkin.
Maybe rather than a Jimmy Floyd or an experienced league manager... Thinking outside the box and giving a chance to a Non League manager could give the club some fresh perspective. Those 2 at Lincoln have proved that even with spending money they can still bring a squad together in league football which does have slightly different egos to non league football so it's not easy, but they have started well again this year.

A change of direction may even give the fan base some enthusiasm again too.
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Macc Town 17/8/19 on: August 17, 2019, 16:32:00 pm
Sounds like we were very unlucky again today,

It won't be long until things click, the potential is there in this team.

I don't know why some people think saving a club from relegation makes Sol Campbell a miracle worker, Macclesfield had some very good players last season and like Bury they couldn't afford them. Unless having an ex England international for a manager is why they couldn't afford to pay the players. Who knows.

Any other ex league player or non league player - it would just be he's done well to keep em up.

An EX Premier League player though... he's the messiah, he's performed a miracle.

10  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Macc Town 17/8/19 on: August 16, 2019, 15:07:24 pm
We should be playing it on the floor, pass n move, pass n move, forward passing, progressing, not backwards passing, a bit of work on the training ground and all will fall into place.

We have some terrific players in the squad, some who know what it takes to get promoted from this league.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Swansea City (a)- League Cup First Round- 13/8/19 on: August 14, 2019, 03:47:32 am
That's enough for me now.

I can't continue to pay money out just to watch us lose,
I could have had roast duck with Chinese straw mushrooms from Lee's Cottage,
I could have called Lola Knight on Studio66 for a chat,
Instead i got no food, I got no chat,
I got cold, I seen us lose a Carabao cup game that we really should have won,
Throw in travel expenses and I'm about £130 down,
Add admission and travel expenses for our first 3 games this season and i'm nearer £300 down,

Until we win at least 2 league games I won't be attending, football fans may be fickle but we also know when to stop chucking good money after bad.
12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Port Vale 10/08/19 on: August 11, 2019, 17:25:45 pm
Wow, just wow.

Game 1 = Curle don't know his best team.
Game 2 = Lucky to get a point Curle be under pressure if we lose Game 3.

No support for Curle, not many realistic suggestions of needing time for the new signings to gel, not many realistic suggestions of needing at least 10 games before we can honest and reasonably judge it.

This guy is a very experienced manager, some people seem to actually want us to fail just to get him gone.

Is it Racism? I can't help but wonder if people think that because Jimmy Floyd was black and didnt do well here that Keith Curle doesnt deserve a fair chance.

Perspective, we have played some good stuff and made chances, we have defended well at times, there are things we need to improve on... but its not a case of being rubbish and creating nothing... to me things just need to click into place and when they do we will reap the rewards.

Lets get behind the team and the manager and stop being spoilt expecting to win every game when we havent even invested heavily enough in the squad to justify winning every game.

How many 2019/2020 previews had us down as promotion candidates?  how many had us down as play off candidates? None. Zero. 0.  Guess thats why people think its a crime that we havent won the first 2 games.
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / David VS Steve on: August 09, 2019, 23:07:04 pm
Keith Curle doesn't know which goalkeeper to use.

For me it is Steve Arnold all day long, last season he played some League One football and that is better than playing no minutes of League One football last year.

Steve is an exceptional talent and was chased by several clubs, some above us and with the offer of first team football.

Lets get Steve into the team so he can adapt to the Sixfields stadium surroundings and his new team mates, he will command the back line like Arnie does in his films.
14  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Situation at Bury FC on: August 09, 2019, 00:43:38 am
In the name  Northampton Town Football Club someone ripped off the council.

Bury's owners have not been running the club properly.

Is it the fans fault? No.  Should they suffer? No.

If we had ripped the council off and actually did the East Stand you lot would not be saying our club should be punished.

Let's stop being so snobby. Im furious someone stole 10 million from our council, regardless of the fact the council is crap and would have only wasted it anyway.
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Hoskins vs Morias on: August 09, 2019, 00:31:45 am
Curle doesn’t have a clue what players or formation we should be playing so let’s help him out.

After 1 game.

With a bundle of new players.

Yep 1 game.

Fecking drama queen.
16  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Censorship Regarding Managers on: August 06, 2019, 14:39:14 pm
Following on from the debate about cats and dogs last week regarding what posts should be removed etc I thought this was very interesting reading on the Posh forum...

Quote
Can a moderator please explain why we can't discuss the performance of Peterborough United's football manager on Peterborough United's official fan forum?

It makes no sense whatsoever that we can't post about the most important person at any football club.

My brother has informed me that mumsnet have issued warnings over the weekend that fans can't discuss the manager there either, so is this a pact between the two sites or can't you think for yourselves? I've also been informed that moderators on mumsnet are discussing Steve Evans and allowing that to stay.

I can't imagine any other football forum banning their members from discussing the manager of their clubs.

Now I never thought "mumsnet" would be the place to host football discussions, I thought it was for mums who want advice from other mums and the like.

If you type mumsnet into google it says

Quote
Mumsnet makes parents' lives easier by pooling knowledge, advice and support on everything from conception to childbirth, from babies to teenagers.

It seems odd that Mums net would warn people not to discuss the manager of a team they support.

But regarding the Posh forum not allowing fans discussing the manager I think it's a good time to reflect on how lucky we are that this forum isn't like that.
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Port Vale 10/08/19 on: August 06, 2019, 13:03:36 pm
I wouldn't mind seeing a line up like this if McCormack isn't 100% fit:

                Cornell
H-J    Goode     Wharton  Martin
              Turnbull
   S.McWilliams    Lines
Adams             A.Williams
                Smith

With Adams swapping between wings like he did last weekend.

Agreed.
Warburton should be eased in as he has jumped up 2 leagues, the fans will be on his back if he keeps starting but doesnt score, we need to be sensible and patient with him.
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Walsall 3rd August on: August 05, 2019, 16:12:38 pm
Thought that Lines was desperately disappointing all game and lucky not to be hauled off.

Someone voted him as MOTM on the other forum https://cobblersforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&p=33  Roll Eyes

Either that person was watching from the hill with Beds or a trip to Specsavers is needed, I can think of 3 times when Lines needlessly rushed a pass which he should have taken a minute and passed to the guy at the side, instead of putting his team mate under pressure.

Yes we created chances which is good but quality of finishing was poor, we lacked sharpness and not every league is forgiving and gives you the first 10 or 15 games to warm up. I know i said friendlies are not important but i didn't expect us to be quite so sloppy and sleepy.

Big improvement needed for Saturday, need to get at least a point on the board because Ryan Lowe has assembled a very good Plymouth squad, a manager and some players who experienced promotion last year from this division so they know what it's about and hit the ground running on Saturday.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: August 01, 2019, 18:38:05 pm
No offence but if Back Of The Net can back up his so called accusations which he has already stated he can then pointing out that someone incites cruelty to animals is perfectly fine.

I don't have any pets, i don't really like cats and yes sometimes they drop a poop in my garden.

But i wouldn't buy a dog to savage the cat or put electric fences up or any other thing that could cause the animal pain.  I'd shuu it away or put bottles on sticks so the noise scares them away.

If my 8 year old daughter had a cat and someone purposely got a dog to savage it i would be fuming, before idiots go running their mouths off on Facebook groups inciting cruelty to animals they should consider how the owner of the pet would feel.

Only a thick person would post something so stupid on a public group, maybe he had just had a few beers or something.
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever? on: August 01, 2019, 13:28:03 pm
You are missing the central issue and that is what you posted and subsequently edited has nothing whatsoever to do with NTFC, the Trust or about the subject matter of this thread.  It was unwarranted, unnecessary and plainly spiteful on a personal level.  The same comment applies to French Cobbler, who started this with his initial post about Insider.

If someone asked why somone doesnt like someone, there is nothing wrong with someone else stating one of their reasons.

Is telling the truth that someone openly enjoyed an animal suffering spiteful?  I don't think so.

Grown adults should know anything that they post in the public domain can come back to bite them.

Insider is an active Trust director

And there we have it, if it was any other person you wouldn't care but because it"s a trust member then it's a savage personal attack and should be covered up.

Thank god he isn't on the Forest Green supporters trust, Dale Vince would have fumed at comments encouraging the savaging of animals.
