I actually enjoyed watching that on ifollow. A feisty League Two battle. Newport never really worried me. If we can click at the top end of the pitch we'll be up near the top come the end of the season.
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Swindon (h) on: September 14, 2021, 22:53:12 pm
I thought we'd want to maximise the attendance. 400 extra £22's is a lot to turn down. £8800 in fact. It wouldn't cost much in extra stewarding (assuming stewards are available).
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC Trust Presentation to WNC on: September 10, 2021, 22:42:24 pm
The reason a lot of the teams that get lucky and get promoted to say the Championship then get relegated is because they donít have the infrastructure in place to sustain that level.
Northampton if we made it to the Championship does have the support base to get 10,000 home fans if the ground would allow, add in the 2000+ away fans and hospitality better sponsorship and we would triple our income.

The trouble is we don't even have the infrastructure to sustain League One level. So our hopes even making the Championship are a long long way off unless something changes.

After a brilliant but hot four days at the County for a record winning chase to beat Surrey, Emma Radacanu an absolute joy and pride to watch...it's Becket's Park tomorrow for the Northamptonshire Beer festival!

FGR away, staying in Gloucester...and hoping it's not so hot in Nailsworth...that hill is a shocker!

Feeling confident that the Cobblers will get at least a draw.

That really was a fantastic 4 day win for county. A great advert for the game. I should have asked my boss for an emergency holiday for day 4. Another one of my regrets.

Never the most attractive of fixtures and both sides lack of goals, I wouldn't be surprised to see a goalless draw. But maybe we can sneak a 1-0 win. . Another dip in attendance as well. Back to League Two mundaneness. I could be wrong and it end up a Sixfields sizzler!

Now breakfasts have been mentioned, I was having breakfast in a Manchester hotel about 10 years ago and Steve Perryman was having breakfast at the next table. He didn't have the full English, just cereal, toast and fruit.

Met John Motson in the West Stand concourse a couple of years ago. He was a guest of KT. He said he tries to get to Sixfields when he can!

I met Jo Whiley at Sixfields in reception on a night game. I sat in front of David Capel (RIP) at Nene Park. Think we won 3-2 in a night game.
Also sat in front of David Gower at the County Cricket Ground when Northants played Leiecestershire back in the late 80's. He was chatting to a young lady between innings. I also sat next to David Ripley at the Derngate for a panto. Bit of a cricket theme here and slightly off topic, although more off topic than the match thread. Let's hope we keep the run going, we're the only EFL team to win every League and Cup game this season.
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Newport Away on: August 18, 2021, 22:51:06 pm
At the start of the season I thought it would be a close with all the teams beating each other and probably quite a lot of draws. Interesting that the 3 bookies favourites, Salford, Bristol Rovers & Exeter have only 1 win between them and 2,3 & 2 points respectively. A poster on here was praising KCís summer recruitment yet Oldham have lost all 3 games. I think it will continue to be a pretty unpredictable league so I hope people donít start to lose their sh1t if we lose a couple of games.

I think unfortunately people will lose their sh1t if we lose a couple, that's just what they do! Let's not be too reactionary to a defeat or a win, play the long game and see how things pan out.

Despite not playing tonight, remarkably we stay in fourth place, so it was a good night's rest!
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: August 17, 2021, 22:15:34 pm
Danny Rose who is preferred to the utterly useless BAS.

Completely forgot about him, probably because he never scores! Should be ok in League Two.

12  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: August 17, 2021, 12:49:42 pm
I don't expect anyone to come in as we don't seem light up top. Like someone said above it would be good to see a really experienced operator in midfield to see games out.

If say Etete suffers an injury that puts him out weeks then we're relying only on Kabamba and BAS. I'm not classing Hoskins as a striker, although he could do a job there if needs be. Am I missing anyone?
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: August 16, 2021, 22:20:26 pm
There doesn't seem to much despondency with the Caleb move, rightly so as it seems we have got a good deal for a player that never changed a game for us, or won any points or scored crucial goals. There's obviously ability there but we never saw it, so I wonder how Villa saw it. Etete is a similar age and already looks a better all round player than Caleb and we have him for a year. We probably need another striker in as we're only one injury away from being light up top.
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Newport Away on: August 14, 2021, 21:57:51 pm
Mixed feelings about this. We'll be a game behind for a month and will fall down the table, however we maintain our 100% record for another week. The rest may do us good, although when you're winning you want to play every possible game.
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Coventry away 11.08.21 Carabao Cup on: August 14, 2021, 21:45:57 pm
Just watched the post match interview with Jon Brady and Rico from the Coventry game, was that David Buchanan stood there? Is he now also part of the coaching team?

No, he was co-commentating for Radio Npton.

I donít want to be that bore that bangs on about car parkingÖÖÖ.but at £12 a car that is ridiculous. Just looked at the off-site parking page on their club website and itís still £10 in a couple of options they give. Anybody got any idea where to park for less or nothing thatís within say a 15 minute walk?
The ticket is only £12 and there are only 2 of us in the car so another £6 on top doesnít make the night as cheap as it could be.
17  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: New Kit on: July 24, 2021, 22:56:56 pm
Wouldn't normally buy a replica shirt but I saw it in the flesh today and liked it enough to part with £45. It was the brogue design that swayed it for me. Had it been plain I don't think I'd have bothered.
It's a good fit - bought my usual size (Large) and it's just right. XL would have noticeably too big I think. Feels a nice material. May go for a run in it tomorrow and see how it deals with the sweat. Nice.
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cobblers v England on: July 11, 2021, 23:52:13 pm
Iím over it now. Same old England. Great achievement getting to the final and Italy were there for the taking, but as usual we didnít take Ďem.

Definitely a missed opportunity tonight and didn't give ourselves the best chance of winning despite a great start. That's what's annoying the most.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Cobblers v England on: July 11, 2021, 23:35:42 pm
I'd feel a far greater low if the Cobblers lost their league status than England losing a Euros or World Cup final.

100% on this as I'd assume most Cobblers fans would be. Gutted tonight but the threat of losing League Status has kept me awake at night. I'll get over tonight's loss by the time Tuesday's friendly at Sixfields comes round. Teyn.
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Pre-Season Friendlies on: July 08, 2021, 21:23:14 pm
I was offered a £165 ticket for the England semi-final for £150. I turned it down  Huh?
