practice makes perfect.
success breeds confidence.
2  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Rise of Sam Hoskins on: September 25, 2022, 14:56:44 pm
Has overtaken Marc Richards to move into 16th place in overall goals. 4 behind Ian Benjamin.
moved ahead of Jock Manning in league appearances.
3  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Jon Brady appreciation society on: September 22, 2022, 17:18:29 pm
seems very unlikely considering how settled he and his family are in the county.
if a team like cov, watford etc come along at some point then i would be slightly more worried.
4  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: International Call Ups on: September 22, 2022, 12:06:03 pm
it has nothing to do with different software.
as far as i am aware, the club historian seems to be a teenage grandson of the original historian, frank grande.
but anyway, lets leave that for another thread.

Alex Dyer is an interesting one. Played in Sweden (for ÷stersunds under Graham Potter (another Northampton connection)), Norway and Kuwait after released by us. Born in Sweden but played for Montserrat, called up a year after we had a choice to keep Jacobs or him, and we obviously chose Jacobs.
Crackers.

Lloyd Davies btw seems to have had his name recorded wrong for what seems like a century. No Edwin, don't know where that came from, and ntfc still can't record it right. But then they don't care about historical facts, see blue and chocolate kit.

most of the names that played full internationals while with the club:
Corazzin (canada)
Pierre (grenada)
Rahim (trinidad and tobago)
Hall (bermuda)
David Moyo (zimbabwe)
Zakuani (dr congo)
Yaser Kasim (iraq, after initially ignoring their coach)
Kirk, Quinn (northern ireland)
Foley (republic of ireland)
Davies, Billy Williams, Leek, Moore, Trollope (wales)

Players for England either before or after playing for us:
Walden, Pease, Louis Page, Smalley, Flowers, Neal, Gregory, (Toney?...)

some interesting age related caps:
Roly Mills, Carr, Don Martin, Jim Hall, Graham Clarke (england youth), Carruthers (u20), Snedker (u19)
Regan Poole (wales, u-21) Paul Walker (keeper, u17)
Billy McKay (northern ireland u21)
Alex Konstantinou (cyprus u19)

No point in risking more injuries in this game so rest a lot of players.
Rest Appere as he is the only fit striker we have available for Saturday.
Rest Guthrie and Sherring the only fit centre backs we have with Adimayo and Magloire injured. Play Dyche and Tomlinson.
I would also not risk injuries to Hoskins, Pinnock, Leonard or Burge.
Give some more minutes to Eppiah and Fox, if fit enough Hylton and Adimayo.
Play Haynes, Cross, Abinbola, Maxted and make up the team with youth players.

you got inside info? spot on.
7  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Rise of Sam Hoskins on: September 17, 2022, 22:48:21 pm
all that talk of needing a 20 goal a season striker...anyway.

overtaken Paul Stratford, John Fairbrother and up to joint 16th with Marc Richards now in overall goals.
and recently overtaken Barry Tucker in overall appearances.

Such aĒpointless point ď that you somehow spectacularly miss it .

how old are you?
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: AFC Wimbledon on: September 12, 2022, 10:23:34 am
It was completely right that all football at any level was cancelled at the weekend out of respect , however there should be no reason this game is postponed .
I think any future cancellations are more due to a concern over policing in London or obscene chanting as we have seen when the anthem is sung .
And i donít blame the authorities for worrying about this - itís a disgusting trend at international level .
See you at Wimbledon i hope .

you can sound like a politician and say 'it was completely right that all football at any level was cancelled'. But that doesn't mean it was, and the debate should be shut down by sounding all high and mighty.

Too late for Mr Johnson to apologise for lying to the Queen now.

in fairness it was rees mogg that lied to her, the oaf only told him to
13  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Warsaw (a) 10th Sept 2022 on: September 08, 2022, 15:30:32 pm
betting on this game even happening? it's not like the country can afford to shut down for a few days.
14  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Barrow at Home Saturday 03/09/22 on: September 03, 2022, 16:19:51 pm
Toney going to the world cup???
15  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Barrow at Home Saturday 03/09/22 on: September 03, 2022, 14:36:15 pm
looking at that bench, I don't know why he didn't leave Bowie on it...easily done with Hoskins/Pinnock in the team. Barrow seem to play a high pressing game, and with an apparent strong bench to continue that, I'm going to be worried towards the end of the game.
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer Transfer window on: September 01, 2022, 14:37:45 pm
BBC's radio's Jake Sharpe on twitter...

"Good old Deadline Day. Jon Brady being very coy on whether the Cobblers are still active in the market. Squad looks pretty complete but if a gem pops up then I think they are in a position to capitalise'

you could take that as is said...OR you could take it as we have found the gem and are ready to complete the deal tonight...

for anyone that want's to see Brady score some crackers while going through his alice band phase with blonde highlights, or maybe even his bleached buzz cut look?
18  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: The Rise of Sam Hoskins on: August 20, 2022, 17:38:00 pm
pretty apt that Sam has now overtaken Cliff Holton in league goals. In 'Holtonesque' goalscoring form atm.
and also up to 19th in overall goals, overtaking Fred Ramscar.
19  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Suggested team and formation for Crewe Away 20/08/22 on: August 19, 2022, 11:30:05 am
Autumn?

When is that?  When the leaves change colour and start falling off? That seems to have started already in many places.

Solar autumn was 1st August
Meteorological autumn will be 1st September
Astronomical autumn will be 22nd September

when the cricket finishes. that's obvious.
20  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Suggested team and formation for Crewe Away 20/08/22 on: August 19, 2022, 10:13:58 am
Id rather we stick with the same starting 11, need a bit of continuity. Too much fiddling is a bit too much Curlesque for my liking.

I wouldn't worry about continuity at the minute. It's about finding the right combinations, that's without the injuries at the back piling up. When the autumn starts is when Brady should know and be looking to play the same XI every week.
