Didn't do us any good last season.

I know fella, clutching at straws!!!

If we don't go up via autos there is absolutely no chance we'll do it through the play offs imo
342  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Automatic Promotion on: April 29, 2023, 18:59:50 pm
Missing out again on autos due to goal difference would be absolutely heartbreaking...

At lease we're guaranteed to be at home in the 2nd leg of the play offs!
343  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bradford City (h) Saturday 29th April 2023 on: April 29, 2023, 18:53:05 pm
Absolutely robbed today after that superb second half showing...

Lewis was their MOTM by a country mile...

You just know we'll draw next week and Stockport or Bradford (if they win in midweek) will win, thus pippin us on goal difference AGAIN!

Will the footballing gods please just give us a break FFS!!!!

344  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bradford City (h) Saturday 29th April 2023 on: April 29, 2023, 10:02:48 am
Clappers are back today, they really do make for a cracking atmosphere.

BRING IT ON!!!
345  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Bradford City (h) Saturday 29th April 2023 on: April 28, 2023, 21:11:02 pm
High press is a must...thankfully, Appere & Bowie won't let us down on that front

Never wanted a promotion more for manager than I do for Brady!

Get into em...
346  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: League 1 2023/4 on: April 27, 2023, 15:04:14 pm
Lock this thread ffs!

WE ARE NOT UP YET!!!

After last season, how can anyone assume we're guaranteed to go up...we ain't until it's mathematical!
347  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Automatic Promotion on: April 25, 2023, 21:55:56 pm
So, if all the top 7 apart from Stevenage draw on Saturday, it is all done and dusted, we're up. Possible?

After last season, I'm already visualising this scenario, everyone drawing & we think we're up....

Our game finishes early, supporters on the pitch, then either Carlisle or Stockport grab an injury time winner taking it to the last game!!!

Remember what happened at Grimsby all those years ago when we pi**ed on their fish n chips!

PLEASE JUST BEAT BRADFORD!!!

348  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Player of the season on: April 24, 2023, 00:27:16 am
Hoskins without doubt...

21 league goals & hardly ever playing as a "proper" striker is a truly phenomenal achievement

This is gonna be a tough old game...

Anyone thinking this will be an easy 3 points are sorely mistaken...

We all need to massively help the team JB manages to assemble by singing our hearts out and smashing the granny out of those clappers...if we've got em on our seats of course!

Don't moan or get on the players backs if we go a goal down...

Get into em!!!
351  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Injury Updates.... on: April 21, 2023, 10:22:06 am
Without knowing what contract he was on its difficult to say. If he was on a pay as you play contract we havent lost anything. I would imagine if he was salaried it would have been minimum wage with performance bonus' etc.
With the injuries we have had any registered player is worth a gamble. Just look what has happened with Norman. Thought he was coming in to support from the bench and now our fittest defender.

I get that, but Norman was never carrying injuries & was set to sign for Morecambe before they pulled out (thankfully!)

The likes of Harrop & Eppiah we're signed knowing they were made of glass...

As I say, hopefully we'll be targeting a more robust type of player moving forwards, along with tweaking our training methods...

Appreciate injuries can happen at anytime, but looking at a players injury record, should certainly alleviate some issues we've had this season.
352  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Harrogate Town (H) - Saturday 22nd April 2023 on: April 21, 2023, 09:22:57 am
There better be clappers on all the seats!

Love em or hate em....they sure make for a much better atmosphere...
353  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Injury Updates.... on: April 21, 2023, 09:20:57 am
Thing is with Harrop, we signed him on a short term deal than ended in January....

He obviously never/hardy played as he was always injured, yet we decide to extend his contract til the end of the season!!!

There was never even an official announcement that we even extended his contract...all very strange

Surely, after making no initial impact due to injuries, he should have just been offer to train with us on non contract terms...

Hopefully, JB and the recruitment team will have learnt a lot this season, with regards to no longer signing proven crocks...

The likes of Harrop & Eppiah are not the type of players needed in the heat of a battle!
354  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Sutton United (a) - 18 April 2023 1945hrs on: April 18, 2023, 14:51:48 pm
i am not quite sure why i get the blame for delivering the news someone is out before the game !
i told you about Macgowan , Sherring , AK and Lintott on saturday before they were announced .
All i am saying is there is another one …
It’s not me that’s crocked them and i wish they were fit .
Brace yourselves because it ain’t good

Guess it's one of Guthrie, Hondermarck, Appere or Bowie then
355  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Automatic Promotion on: April 17, 2023, 14:14:39 pm
After that horrendous day on the final day of last season, pointless fretting about what may or may not happen, just roll with it & get behind the lads for the run in  Grin
356  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Wrexham on: April 12, 2023, 22:54:23 pm
Guarantee they will be live on Sky at least 5 times next season, even though hardly any L2 games are shown, bar play offs!
357  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Hylton on: April 12, 2023, 17:19:02 pm
Loved the fact when we scored the 2md goal Hylton for the ball and booted it out the ground over the west stand and the ref didn't book him

He always does it  Grin
358  The Hotel End / Other Football & Sport / Re: Former Cobblers on the move. on: April 10, 2023, 19:54:16 pm
Crawley Town Football Club is delighted to confirm that striker Caleb Chukwuemeka has joined the club on loan for the remainder of the season with an obligation to buy.

Chukwuemeka started his career at Northampton Town and joined Corby Town on loan in February 2020, where he made three appearances in the league, scoring once. Caleb made his senior debut for Northampton Town in September 20202 as a late substitute in a 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon before starting his first match for the club four days later in a 4-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Bristol City. Chukwuemeka scored his first league goal later that month with Northampton's third goal in a 3-2 victory over Wigan Athletic in October 2021.

In August 2021, Chukwuemeka signed for Premier League Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee. Caleb entered the Villans Academy. Caleb made his Aston Villa debut as a substitute for his brother Carney in a 6-0 EFL Cup victory over Barrow. He was awarded the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award in September 2021, having scored five goals in three matches.

More recently, Chukwuemeka had a short loan spell with Scottish Premiership side Livingston.

Speaking on Caleb’s move to the Reds, Kevin Betsy said: “Caleb is a player that I have known for some time. This is a real coup for the club, given the level of interest in his talents from a higher level. A versatile forward who can play anywhere across the front line. He will be a threat for us, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club. We thank Aston Villa for their support in this deal. It shows that we have the trust of some big Premier League clubs in their younger players.”

He was brought in from the cold to start this afternoon, these player ratings made me chuckle, No 50 is Celeb btw...still can't believe we got 300K from Villa for him...Crawley still have an agreement to buy him permanently from Villa at the end of the season, so we've probably got a small sell on from that too...

Can't wait for Crawley to get relegated!

Addai- 6/10. Did ok, came out his goal a few times to good effect, but doesn’t command his area at all

Ransom- 5/10 beat in the air time and time again

Johnson- 2/10 out of his depth at centre half.

Mazeed- 6/10 tried to be positive on the ball, but nothing came off for him

Powell- 4/10 tried to play the ball forward at least, but too many long aimless balls and takes 3 business days to pass the ball sometimes

Roles- 3/10 wouldn’t even get in the Eastbourne or Worthing team. Totally out of his depth at this level

Mason- 4/10 tried to come forward from fall back, but too weak and doesn’t get stuck in

Nadesan- 2/10 sometimes you wonder what’s the point of him being out there, lazy, sulky and half hearted when things don’t go his way

No.50- -1 out of 10. Worse than Mark Wright. A total fraud of a player. Not a professional footballer. Looked like a drunk who was running around in a Crawley shirt for a joke.

Telford- 4/10 again anonymous out there. What more can you say.

Tilley- 3/10 nothing came off for him, gave the ball away multiple times. Looked off the pace.

Grant- 3/10 didn’t look up to speed at all, game passed him by

Rest cannot be bothered to look up/ hardly played

Hahaha!

Today was the last of Carlisle's "easier" games. If they don't perform against us, they can wave their chances good bye.

They played against 10 men for the last half hour too!
