1  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: What do you think of Sixfields Stadium? on: September 15, 2021, 15:24:21 pm
FGR ground, it's not a stadium !!, looked really clean and tidy, even the advertising hoardings, perhaps they were all new. It also had a very modern digital scoreboard (in a weird low location) and some scrolling digital advertising hoardings.

Atmosphere was ok considering only 2500 crowd, they had a drummer,  they had home standing behind each goal.

Sixfields just looks so old and tired, although we have a big scoreboard it's not that easy to read.

What do you guys think, what would you do to improve it.  Do you like away fans just in the East?

Please please can we just have genuine comments, no sniping, no trying to score points, I really want to encourage some of those who rarely post to have a voice.

Thanks everyone

(sorry updated title as i didn't mean Sixfields Area)

Do we accept card at the various food outlets in the stadium yet?

They are expensive, as are the milkshakes, though brilliant!
Not an advisable combination after a day on the ales...I've found out to my cost!

Free nuts, while waiting too!*

Completely off topic. I've heard good things about these milkshakes of late... which one is the best for a newcomer?

Many plaudits flooding in on Kioki. The question is have they seen him play away. I agree his power surges are welcome; I love it! These power surges are not so evident at away games. Even at FGR in the few surges he did invariably was lost in an over optimistic pass. Personally would not play him as a left back in a 442, possibly in a 3-5-2 but whether he has the quality of passing ability is debatable. Whilst his defensive duties in home games were energetically carried out but at FGR when their right midfield began to make in roads I thought Kioki looked a bit bemused by this aggressive play. Once with Lewis, he or both failed to dispossess an FGR player. The full backs should be of an unforgiving nature so shove Kioki into midfield to add some impetus there but he must learn to pass first.

Well this aged really well. Well done  Grin

For those looking to dissect…

Many people have praised Kioki for his performances.

Neverbrite loves his power surges which are most welcome, but he doesn’t do them often enough away from home. Although he did make a few surges away from home at FGR but ended up losing the ball.

Neverbrite would not play him as LB in a 4 4 2. He would possibly play in in a 3 5 2, but possibly wouldn’t because of his passing ability.

He is has been very good defensively at home games, but at FGR he looked bemused when their RM looked to run down the line.

He shouldn’t be played as a LB so put him into midfield once he learns to pass.

So, to cut a long story short, what's the point you're trying to make?
6  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Injury Updates.... on: September 12, 2021, 09:14:06 am
Sid Nelson will be out for some considerable time with a knee ligament injury sustained in training.

Does that mean a free agent will be signed? Both Mills and Nelson out for a long period. Good job we've got the Villa lad.

Any news on the Villa lad. He hasn’t made the match day squad since we signed him?

I’ll tell you the most frustrating thing of all…

In the build up to each game the club post a video on Instagram with some daft saying or emoji showing one of the players supposedly on fire tucking practice shots into the corners of the goal…

It’s about time one of them managed it in a game don’t you think!?

We could go a couple of years without scoring here
9  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC Trust Presentation to WNC on: September 10, 2021, 14:59:40 pm

Interesting, I didn't realise people would physically refuse to go if for instance only the East stand front row was available.

I guess that's why the likes of theatres operate a tiered ticket structure. Maybe that should be considered to increase the 65% occupancy.

Don't you know? If we build it they will come.

Luckily that's not the case round here. My wife keeps adding seats around the house, luckily nobodys turned up to try and sit in them yet. Long may it continue.
11  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: NTFC Trust Presentation to WNC on: September 10, 2021, 14:37:22 pm
"We don't need a bigger capacity - we don't fill it."

Its not just about capacity its about flexibility.

Remember the woeful attempts at sharing the south stand in the championship season because the stadium wasn't big enough?  You need to provide overflow areas in stadiums, 15% of the capacity for away fans - that takes it down for home fans.

Also a capacity crowd requires a large away following - we've had many 6000 crowds over the years with little to no away support. Looking at the stats, it tells you we didn't fill the stadium - actually we filled our allocation.

MKDons have the capacity to give away tickets to youngsters to encourage support.

I hate sitting in the East stand and the North.  If there are no seats in the West, I really think twice about going.

Is the flexibility box not ticked on the basis that the ground generally 65% occupied?

I note the issues trying to share the away stand 5 / 6 years ago. Not sure that warrants spending money on extra seats just incase once every 5 years someone wants to sit in them.

Here is the link to the slides that were sent to WNC for the recent meeting

https://www.ntfctrust.co.uk/uploads/files/wnc-full-presentation.pdf

I must admit that seems very one sided!

Comparisons etc. found to work in favour.

One thing I've always struggled to get my head round it the fascination of installing extra seats. I think your presentation states an attendance of c.65%, so what's the point in paying money to have these seats installed if they are never going to be sat in?

Executive boxes, what do we think the demand would be for these?

Just surprised that you dismissed the two players concerned in your summary. The one thing Connolly did was to inject a bit of pace which in fact led to the second goal which we needed... don't you think! Easy to dismiss him as 'with no end product' but ignore the pluses. As for Lewis he did ok does the easy things efficiently, backed up by two terrific tackles second half in front of the West Stand opposite row approx N140/N180. The point is for me the two players put in reasonable shifts as they say on here. Connolly will trouble L2 defences as he is so damn quick. Talking a about speed, our right back astonished some of us in the West Stand with the speed he raced into attack/covered back! Roberts basically untroubled, with Kioki putting in his trademark surges upfield. As mentioned by someone else, does not always end with a promising pass. Thought he was a bit lose in his marking role too. Lewis workman like, covers a lot of ground and works hard. Flores did some good passing and certainly noticed him more today. Hoskins did well and was relieved to see him latch on to scramble the ball home. Thought Connolly shot had crossed the line? Ete caused them issues whilst he was on, might have scored once but felt he was falling over or slipping a little too often at times. Rose quite rightly man of the match and thought he was in the penalty area too when the guy was sent off. Kabamba offered little, funked some direct challanges and can't head the ball for toffee. Summary well we won more comfortably than the score suggests and above all Rose scored from open play and no wonder his teammates mobbed him after his first goal in 30. Like seeing records broken!
One last thought, at times we played like a team expecting to win with too much sideways and back movements. The injection of pace put an end to that dilly dallying.

A bit harsh to dismiss a player after coming on cold with 15 minutes to go don’t you think?
16  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Home against The Iron Saturday 04.09.21 on: September 04, 2021, 20:24:14 pm
Find it very easy to disagree on Lewis and also Connelly ! Have to assume you were not there!

Come on then, let’s hear it. How did we play, who impressed, who didn’t?

Also interested to hear how Koiki got on replacing the heartbeat of the team.

New left back signing not even on the bench...

Nor is BAS.

Could struggle for goals this afternoon!
