Goode’s 2 loan spells were not “unsuccessful” both were curtailed by injuries. Cartilage at Sheffield Utd and hamstring at Blackpool.
So they were unsuccessful then? Or are you saying cartilage and hamstring issues are a success?

Pinch of salt
Pompey fans thought Holmes was off it.... Walsall fans didn't rate Roberts... Luton fans said Hylton would be best player that ever played for us.... I could go on
If he's right attitude JB will get best out of him, no doubt.
When you put it like that

The sooner that Hylton packs his bags, the better. 4 defenders, 1 midfielder and 1 striker (that’s back from a spell on the sidelines) on the bench. I guess that gives an indication of where we need to strengthen.

This is quite ridiculous, looks like the youngster now isn’t coming back and Newcastle have won out…
Dadge to be recalled
Very short sighted by Newcastle I must admit. I don't think anyone on here will be particularly bothered he's gone which shows his level, but he was getting game time which is invaluable at his age. I can only assume he wasn't happy in Northampton which is just a tad different from Newcastle.

Sadly he has not proven that he can stay fit for any consistent period of time. I think im in the minority but i didnt hugely rate him anyway. Obviously hope he can return, stay fit and prove me wrong but on the ball he just seemed pretty lost previously. Hopefully he retains his pace despite such a bad injury.
He's very good at recovering challenges, trouble is more often than not its his own mistakes that need recovering

Still think we need to strenghten the defense. Willis is no Guthrie and neither is Shelling although he is close. Both good players at this level but the partnership with Guthrie rises their star!
Step forward Tyler Magloire

I think it's covered in the Hoskins thread but as a fan why would you currently want to sell him? You do realise you don't get the money?
If I was the chairman I'd probably take £1.5m, as a fan I wouldn't want to see him go for less than £5m, i.e. I don't want him going. £5m might increase the chances of seeing the stand finished. The £1.5m would mean we'll probably break even or make a modest profit this season. There'd be some token attempts to replace his goals and input and let's be honest, it'd be highly unlikely we'd plug his current gap.
Unless a club has forward thinking owners who regular plough profits back in and buys big then I don't really get massive kicks funding the running costs, which is the prerogative of being a fan and not an owner.
Completely agree. A small percentage will go into running costs and the rest will disappear. On the field we will be worse off.

I know I get moaned at for saying it about Sammy. But you HAVE HAVE HAVE to take into account penalties and set pieces, as opposed to goals in open play. Most clubs that might look at him will quite possibly have players who already take the set pieces and penalties. So you'd only be viewing him from his goals from open play. That's certainly going to detract from any value we slap on him.
I'm not sure on the logic here. Hoskins is currently joint 4th top scorer in the league with 12 goals, 2 of which were penalties. Overall he is 3 goals off the top scorer (May). If your to deduct penalties from all the top scores in the league, May, Reid, Rhodes, Cole, Chares, Bishop. Hoskins would be joint 4th and 2 goals off the top scorer (Cole). Last season Hoskins was 2nd top scorer 6 behind Cook. Take penalties away from all the top scorers and he's still 2nd, 4 goals behind Cook.
