The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Redevelopment Closer Than Ever?

I’ve been reading on line that the commercial department at Birmingham didn’t have much of a budget to work with and did really well with what they had. Rumour has it the club was struggling to stay within the FFP guidelines of a maximum loss of 13 million per annum, and was making cuts all over the shop. According to what I read they got chucked a lifeline by getting 15% of the sale of Jude Bellingham from Dortmund to Madrid.
Bet Corrigan is carrying an injury too.

Someone needs to tell that James Corrigan fella, the East Stand completion ain't ever gonna happen, under the ownership of KT/DB...
Well, that's what The Trust have been telling us isn't it?
Maybe he has been taken on to sort out a box park; loads of money in that.

Good luck Tony - makes a refreshing change to hear about something positive for the ground that everyone can buy into; fingers crossed the uniqueness of the initiative, the community aspect of the plan and the cash / opportunities it could generate make it a ‘no brainer' for council and the owners to back. Nice too the JR outcome has no baring given where its going. Really hope you can generate enough inertia and interest to get this off the ground and running. Good luck.

Rambo! Rambo! Used to love him ‘accidently' attempting to hit the coppers (who were pitch side facing the hotel end) helmets during warm up at the County Ground (and at away grounds too for that matter!). Legend.

The Trust board did respond to our email, we've updated the email chain here: https://www.notmytrust.com/email-trust-november-14We've gone back again and asked for answers to the questions rather than the opinions on issues that we got in the response, our email is also included on that page. I like the transparency of you publishing all the questions and replies (would be interested to have known from the owners in cash terms what the Chinese ‘deal' made / lost them when it all fell apart – it seems not much) however it does feel like this is turning into something of point scoring exercise; I presume if you have an ex board member standing you know exactly what the situation / processes are in respect to a lot of this is. That said when the elections do take place and presuming there is a change in ‘direction' it will interesting to see what the views of the ‘new' board are in regard to the on going situation and whether there is a way forward. I just think its such a shame that all then parties involved (council, Trust, Cilldara and owners) cant reach some agreement between them. We know Cilldara and the owners at one point were in talks and given Cilldara's expertise in remediation, surely there has to be deal there that can get things moving. You'd think it would be something the council would be pro actively looking at given how this is playing out and where matters will be should the review decide in favour of Cilldara (must be a reasonable chance of this I presume). Its just beyond embarrassing now.

Again that’s fine but you have to find someone prepared to make the donations necessary. That is the only realistic way to achieve the outcomes you are talking about. Ground development in isolation is a red herring. Even if it came for free you still will probably not achieve the desired results by gate receipts and match day revenues alone. This is the reality of the monster that has been created.
Maybe KT can convince that Shaq bloke he knows to donate; think he is worth a couple of quid. Hate to think what shirt size he is.

Zen Master, I'm unable to read the article without subscribing, thanks for posting it though
Likewise Zen Master; I am just down the road from Plymouth - had one of my Covid jabs in their main hospitality area; very impressive setup and not a tent in sight.

No your not, but then it boils down to individuals prepared to gift a club the money to develop. We’ve just had our 125th anniversary and are still waiting. The real concern is how they fund it. If it’s a straight donation then no problem, if it’s via a third party like, well us, you can be weeks from the abyss if things go pear shaped. Hardly Shangri-la.
No I do get it but the alternative is stagnation for ever more which is where seem to be currently. Going from the Championship to the Prem is where the mega bucks would be needed in my view but its pretty obvious the current setup is not enough to get us out of league 2 for any meaningful period let alone beyond. Something has to change for me – if you're serious about progressing its not just about the East Stand.

Sorry for being consistently boring, but nothing stopping this happening other than a typical reluctance by individuals generally to pour money down the drain? This is of course unless it’s on the basis of a rather generous gift. Q all the Kamikaze business plans that instigate the well worn phrase “I’m out”.
Get what you're saying totally but lets be honest, if you own a football club are you really expecting to make money – certainly at our level? Given the returns from a completed East seem relatively poor in terms of outlay why then would you bother with that at all (I appreciate we haven’t yet). It may be fantasy but I really did like that plan for the North from a while back that our friend from Thailand mentioned. Even if you upped the capacity and stuck a proper bar underneath, it would at least show a bit of ambition / intent. Given too how well the ladies are doing and the women’s game in general the stadium is presumably going to be utilised on a more regular basis which again should help matters.

Anyway, amusing petition entries aside and whether or not there are connections to any of the protagonists involved in this ‘saga’, a mischievous individual, a state sponsored cyber attack (or just a wierdo – quite a few people can access the internet I understand), I note in KT's reply to Tom that he said funds (nothing specific) were available to complete the East but everything was stalled due to the ACV / rival bid / judicial review issues. Given how long this has been going on for and how long its likely to continue, to me this is surely now the ideal opportunity to crack on with the rest of the ground. Forget the East – do the North or the South; nothing is stopping this happening. To use KT's house analogy, put a couple of bloody great side extensions on. Would be lovely to see something delivered that reflects the ambitions the club have to progress.

Wonder at what point Bower says enough is enough and bails albeit I guess proceeding with the review means any cash ear marked to complete the eyesore remains in the bank. Shame all the interested parties cant now come to some arrangement between them given the whole sorry saga and further delays this will now bring although I guess this wont halt the review process? If the process does have to be restarted too then I guess that really does take us back to square one in regard to any meaningful work on the stand starting. What a mess.

I thought my heart was going to burst when Parish scored; didn't he have a flag of St George t-shirt on underneath too? The elation at the end soon evaporated when I saw the 'reception' that was waiting for us outside. Still struggle with how they got away with having a hard core surface on the car park given it seemed conveniently loose. What a day. Baa!

If only the council hadn't messed up all the leases including multiple leases on the same plot of land.
Least the money to complete the stand has been ringfenced; no reason either why a more detailed plan of what we are likely to get cant be published in the meantime. Might wet the appetite.....
