What was the crack with Tom Scott going to Sunderland? did we offer him a contract?

It's like Simply O'Toole wrote a parody headline to make a dig at us not keeping the ball on the ground enough  Grin Grin Grin

Koiki is quality. Offer him till he's 30 now.

Agreed, he is class

In fairness, I'd say AFC Wimbledon's return to Plough Lane counts as a success story under fan ownership, not to mention their rise from nothing to a (just about) established League 1 side. They are an isolated example though and were coming from a place where they had absolutely nothing to lose.

I agree but there is the whole romanticised view of the Mcdonald's situation and their close ties with Football manager that have assisted them. I am not sure Northampton would pull the same support from the wider footballing world.

I take it you were actually there? If so that kind of news is heartening.

He was in and out of the game but actually managed to play a couple of through balls (something I haven't seen a cobblers player do in a few years  Grin). One cut their defence in half but BAS had strayed offside.
146  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: September 01, 2021, 13:35:32 pm
There were glimpses last night that suggested Flores may be the answer in regards to a play maker.
147  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: August 31, 2021, 13:22:23 pm
The real answer would be to get Salford reserve CB Jordan Turnbull back, especially as they have just signed another central defender this week.

Then we get a CB, LB and DM in one go. In my dreams of course!

I am not big on pining for former players but that is a cracking suggestion.

He is solid at LB, CB and DM.

I would have him back in a heartbeat, I don't get why he was so underrated here.
148  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Rochdale home 21.08.21 on: August 21, 2021, 04:19:10 am
So back to the task at hand…

Dale have 3 that started their first game of the season out with a 4th just returned post COVID. The CM that’s been drafted into the starting 11 to cover is also out.

We’ve won 2/2.

They haven’t won yet at 3 attempts.

They played on Tuesday night.

We’ve had a week off.

All things point to another win right!?

You are right. Everything points to a Cobblers win. So I will be betting on 1-3 Rochdale 😂🤣😂

I don't expect anyone to come in as we don't seem light up top. Like someone said above it would be good to see a really experienced operator in midfield to see games out.
150  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Colchester United away 14.08.21 on: August 13, 2021, 08:20:43 am
100%, I even think Rose adds something to the mix.

I would love to see BAS kick on from his goal, As we could be in a position where we have 4 forwards fighting for places. It's been a while since we have had striking options that could change games on the bench.

Another ex-Cobbler on the move.

I was surprised we let him go tbh, he had one of two iffy games at CB but looked like he had all the physical attributes to develop into a half decent player.
152  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: July 28, 2021, 10:03:29 am
Chucky told someone last night at the game he intends to stay ad get promoted, which would make me think there is nothing in this story.
153  The Hotel End / Cobblers Corner / Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window on: July 26, 2021, 09:24:05 am
As for the Kion Etete swap deal, it does seem to have some relative heat from decent sources but I agree how rare swap deals are, would be an eye brow raiser!

If it is True I'd imagine it would be cash for Caleb and the lad on loan as a sweetener.

Are we going to sing "there's only one Abd-Al-Ali Morakinyo Olaposi Koiki"?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the Ali koiki

I thought Debayo did alright, but surprised for them to go for the other lad, but I guess I haven't seen him play.

He looked very assured against Forest

I don't think it's a coincidence that the papers are reporting that Mbappe won't sign a new contract this morning.

Great tune..ruined for me, as it reminds me of Sixfields!  Grin

Some of my mates are big into reggae and I ruin it shouting cobblers when ever they play the original  Grin Grin Grin

Won't be to many peoples taste but this put a smile on my face when I heard Ed Solo play it

3 Mcgowan - Looks like he can deliver a ball
48 Aloki - looked very assured at the back
Pinnock - poor first touch let him down, he could have had a couple of clean chances otherwise but looks good.
Flores - couple of good touches but mainly absent
Lewis - I wasn't that impressed, definitely need at least one combative midfielder in there
BAS - Got bullied tbh, spent a lot of time on the floor and was not helped by the injury early on. It looks like Brady doesnt trust him when he says he is hurt. He seemed to ignore him for about 15 mins
Kabamba - Looks like a solid target man tbh, hopefully grows into that role for us
Connoly - Much the same as pinnock, looks promising

Defense looked good despite the mix up for the first, the 2nd I'd put down to a lack of presence and pressing in the middle of the park.
