My theory on that is that both Horsfall and Guthrie were significant threats from corners in the season they played together whereas only Guthrie is now such a threat (and he has missed a fair few games more recently). Easier to mark one obvious threat than two.
Another interesting stat talking of season 2021/22. Of the three promoted clubs that season, we are above Exeter and Bristol Rovers and FGR are heading out of the League this season.

We were immense from set pieces from that season also and scored a ton from corners and free kicks.
Strange considering there has been a huge amount of squad retention that we now seemingly are able to come back regularly despite going behind and it feels we are far less of a threat from set pieces.

Apparently, it's to enable Champions League expansion. I can't see the point. It's more than enough as it is.
I much prefer the domestic rivalries.
The proposed European Super League through the back door perhaps.

Spot on. There's plenty of sectors crying out for people. Care homes is the obvious example. Your elderly relative is being denied the care she deserves because the person that could do that job is being denied access thanks to your xenophobia.
We allow far too many 18 year old's to go to University who aren't academic enough to benefit from the education provided. Many of those individuals have aptitudes/skills that lie elsewhere. The vast sums of Student Debt being written off as unrecoverable are proof of this. These students should be filling the available vacancies in the economy (Care Homes is a great example in this respect - some basic training and a wonderful attitude to the residents are key skills). They are wasting three years of their lives achieving very little when they could be earning decent money. The impact of less academically gifted students going to University has also significantly reduced standards of degrees and the benefits previously derived from following them. If you work in the sector this is all very obvious.

An interesting question I haven't seen an answer to here is what Nigel has paid for his 25% ownership. That would give us a good idea what Kelvin and David (and Nigel who has agreed the deal) believe the Cobblers are now worth inclusive of those leases.
4 x 25% = 100% of course though the 51st percentile and 76th percentile are particularly valuable (ownership, voting rights etc).
I assume Nigel has purchased those shares in his own name and not via one of his companies' (with disclosure requirements).

These games can't all be live on their current sports channels, especially the midweek games and EFL trophy games as there aren't enough channels to show all the mooted games live. Presume it will be red button or a live stream on an app or something?
I pay about £86 a month for Sky Sports (no movies, no broadband). Just Sports + 'normal' tv package + HD + multi-room. It all adds up.
Wadey, The answer to your question is yes - they will all be on one way or another - live streams mainly. I pay £19.99 per month for Now TV and my Broadband is £22 per month (inclusive of phone line).

Im not sure that a 14.00 kick off does add to the excitement, local businesses, or local hostelries, due to an hour less spending time.
On reflection I believe you are probably right. Carlisle's away game support has caved in (generally less than half our away day support) and your specific points are definitely valid.

To be fair you seem a lot more clued up than me, I just assumed it would be a while before we showed anywhere near a profit.
I wonder where the profits on the sale of the land now fully acquired will be shown and the actual tax treatment of that.

Correct, but I was talking generally, assuming we are talking about an entity operating in the black, which is the suggestion.
Thanks for the clarification. The Cobblers must have tax losses brought forward in the region of £9.2 million (roughly the retained losses figure). A potential Deferred Tax Asset of £1.84 million (9.2 million x 20%) not currently recognised on the Balance Sheet.

Rog, I’m not saying it wouldn’t work , I’m just quoting the figures I’ve read. 4000 pints at 16p equals £640. 4000 pints at 83p equals £3,320.00 both options are less 20% corporation tax on any profit obviously. The question is what do these clubs make with a fan village etc, again it can’t be a national secret. What are the best performing clubs, who turns over the most money on non ticket match day sales per spectator and why, who makes the most profit on non ticket match day sales and why? There is actually no need to guess if you are smart about it and do the leg work.
Regarding Corporation Tax; If you are saying it is the club (NTFC) making the profit on sales of alcohol the club has enormous corporation tax losses brought forward to set against the profit.

Getting to Northampton is usually ok, it's always the journey home when the problems begin. I generally have to get a taxi about 4.45 just to ensure I can get back to the station for the last train home, then you are almost guaranteed to be hanging around Crewe or Preston stations as trains are cancelled and then have to wait for them to put buses on, Carlisle fans will probably be the most aware of this happening in the entire league.
I usually get the 06.00 from Penrith and very rarely see many Carlisle fans on that travelling to away games, as you say they do have a large London based following, they might fill a coach from Carlisle and that'll be it
The Cobblers often move their home games on a Saturday afternoon to 2.00 pm because the local rugby team are playing down the road. A pity this couldn't have been done here. Adds to the gate, adds to the excitement, more revenue for the clubs, local businesses, rail companies, local hostelries.

So if I understand that right and looking at this set of accounts, the £839k deferred in the 2022 accounts would be included in the 2023 accounts and the £1.139m deferred in this set will go into the next set etc etc..... therefore we are "technically" £300k better off than reported?!
The £839k deferred in the 2022 accounts showed up as revenue in the 2023 accounts and the £1.139 million will show up as Revenue in the 2024 accounts. I wouldn't say we are better off than reported. I would say we were complying with the accruals concept - deferring taking the revenue until the year it is earned (the relevent year the advance season ticket sales games are played).

I wouldn't be so sure on that as the balance sheet at 30th June lists "Cash at bank and in hand".... unless they have a way of not banking or at least accounting differently for revenue received in April, May and June in that financial year...it would have to be shown somewhere though!
The early sale of season tickets for season 23/24 (cash received before June 30th 2023) will be the most significant part of Deferred Income in Creditors falling due within one year in Note 8. I don't know how our owners manage the Clubs Bank account but it would make sense not to leave monies earning nothing in the bank when they could utilise it elsewhere via their loan account balances. The accounting treatment will be in compliance with the accruals concept (matching costs with revenues in the period to which they apply).

a surge in season ticket revenue (a lot of which would have been banked before the June 30th accounts date)
The Revenue figures shown in the financial statements for the year ended June 30th 2023 will only include sales of Season tickets applying to season 22/23.

Sherring and McWilliams - yes - players who have served us well and may have significant sell-on value.
Moore - No. Would require decent salary package, low sell-on value and injury prone (he's pulled up several times for us already).
We have Guthrie and McGowan as more than decent old pros already signed up.

Really, wonder if they can sell those as part of the “debt call in”. I’ll take 3, we always need extra chairs at Christmas.
Sorry. I took the trouble to go back and look at the financial statements in detail and altered my original post - about £131k refers to putting back in the seating.

I’m guessing a lot of that is the estimated value of the playing squad.
The majority of that arises from the initial work on redeveloping the East Stand (refer to the year ended June 30th 2014 financial statements - when the Cordoza's owned the club).

Quickly perusing those financial statements, the key matter that strikes me is how substantial the loss (approximating to £20k per week) is even after the significant Profit on Disposal of Player Registrations income.
Given the current infrastructure we definitely need a decent Cup run or two as well as fill the house for the significant majority of our home league games.
The owners are still funding the club.
