I think the missed penalty probably evens out with the obvious foul we got away with for the goal.
Fox has spent so little time on the pitch these last two years, you forget he really would have been one of our 1st choice midfielders.
Appere isnt good enough to be the absolute main striker at the club, but he has more than enough to be a squad player with age on his side to develop. If he leaves, I reckon he ends like Billy Mckay and we miss the upside of the work he's put in now.

McGowan had brought some desire and will back into the team, doing well. Fox has realyl helped defensively at set pieces picking up the 2nd balls and stopping a few attacks. Appere has done a lot of donkey work for the team and had a great assist. And Hoskins has his tail up from the goal.
Solid half.

Sorry Manwork, I completely understand the ability to by cynical, but I'm not trusting a website with absolutely zero sources or any fathomable ability to have an inside information, compared to the EFL Communication being sent around the clubs in November saying we're factually 18th.

Not only has that argument got its on straw man in it, but it also doesnt consider that the 10th man pays the same as the 3rd for his drink, as he's incorporated off shore and pays himself by taking a loan out on his shares.
A balooning gini coeffecient hasn't led to burgeoning quality of life increases, just property and stock asset bubbles. I would agree with sing that the best thing for the economy would be the lowest 70% holding more disposable income whether that be lower taxes, high wages, higher benefits or a combination of all, as they're the only one that gain dispoable income to be active participants in the economy.

I'd 100% keep Appere. I know he isn't prolific, but he's young, works hard, and has a decent pass in him. Reminds me of Hoskins in that the workrate and application are there, and there's a hint of same talent in him, but the composure isn't quite there yet. He's not as important to the team as Bowie and Leonard and about the same as Simpson, but all three of those are leaving.

I'm going to guess its either a GK or RB, if either Burge and McGowan are out for longer than predicted, as Fox coming back and Gape signing on we're starting to give us a few more options in midfield.

Thanks for the link. He doesn't sound anyone near as angry as I thought it would sound like. Maybe a bit annoyed at Tim asking obvious questions, and more trying to stress how difficult it is to play against a side with a much higher budget to justify the result than fuming at the lack of spending.

Someone will need to transcibe the comments, as I can't find them on the radio northampton link.
He's got us hitting above budget on 3 consecutive years, two of which were on 80 odds points, there will definitely be some interest, albeit not from anyone at the top of League 1 or above.

Just so much better at set pieces than us in both games. Not going to be much better against Bolton, just need to keep their heads up and get out the other side of the bad run.

We've lost more game than we've won, and we're on negative goal difference. A single result can happen on a day, maybe we beat Portsmouth with or without a functioning midfield, but the odds of making the play-offs are unlikely irregardless of the result. Particular as teams like Bolton and Portsmouth have reinforced with a much more financial backing than we would have even if we'd gone for it.
Football isn't played on paper, which is how Leicester happened and why lightning could strike and we could go on a run, but we were never going to buy ourselves into the playoffs when the teams in that part of the table are on 3 times our wage structure and crowds of 20k.

Derby, Portsmouth and Bolton will have wage bills that dwarf ours, Derby's is like 9-10 million, got to be pushing two to three times ours. I think that's my argument though - if we spend money we'll still be no where near what they can spend, so what's the point of trying to compete financially with them? Our odds of getting into the play-offs and promoted as it stands must be no more than 1 in 6, and what would spending another million on wages get is up to, maybe a 1 in 5 shot? We're beating and competing well with the clump of teams who have similar budgets to us, but the gap between those lot and the big boys in League 1 is massive.
Not saying it wouldn't be a great feeling if we did, but risk/reward just seems off.
