Nice one mate. It's made me want to do another book, I don't think doing one on the Cobblers will work again but one about football in general.

Oh yes Mark another book would be great.
Like you say we could all write of games been to or seen on tv away from the Cobblers & even games we played in when young, I'm sure from my memory banks I can dredge up some more of my dear Dad's antics when watching matches when I was a youngster.

Do you know what "Nemesis" means?
A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent personified in this case by a sex starved voyeur that is Tyro.

Boy Bingers first ever football match was against Scunny, only it was away. Little Boy Bingers first match was Oldham away and we got his picture taken with Bunny and another with Sammo. Bunny promised to reply to the letter that Boy Bingers had written to him, asking for goalkeeping advice, but he never did reply. Still, at least it was one bit of homework that he didn't moan about doing.

Rotherham 3rd January 2004. FA Cup third round and it ended 1-1. Darren Byfield put Rotherham ahead when i was in the toilet and Martin Smith equalised. I for some reason distinctly remember Paul Trollope being booked too Edit: Having looked at the match report, Byfield didn't score and Trollope wasnt booked. Oops

Barnet (H) - 15th October 1994 - 1-1 draw. I was 6. I think someone called Aldridge scored? Most gutting thing is I just missed the County Ground days. I've been a regular/season-ticker holder ever since.

Northampton 0-2 Wigan, September 1993. Just over 6 months old, on the Hotel End, crying because of the noise apparently. As you'd expect I remember absolutely f*** all about the game or the Cayntee Graynd, even though I went to several games before the move to Sixfields. First game I remember was Wembley. Would have been 4.

9th April 1966: Northampton 0 Liverpool 0.
I've never realised this before but I too must have got the bug pretty bad because I then saw all our remaining home games in the old first division, Stoke 1-0 (12/4), Fulham 2-4 (23/4) & Sunderland 2-1 (25/4).
Liverpool finished Champions.
I was 9.

2nd April 1994 - County Ground
Northampton Town 1 - 2 Gillingham
Don't really remember anything about the game other than we stood on the cricket side. I remember hearing the cheer for our goal (scored deep in stoppage time) as I was walking down Abington Avenue with my dad!
Glad I have a few memories from the County Ground to cherish.

My first season watching the Cobblers was the famous 1957/58 campaign.
The first match that season was against Aldershot, but my first game was the next match against Coventry City, our local rivals at the time... a game we won 4-0 in front of a crowd of over 12,000.This season saw us fall just below the cut off line for the on Div 3 south...consigned to Div 4.
It did, however, include the fantastic 3-1 cup victory against the Arsenal, including Dave Bowen. Entry was the princely sum of 2 shillings ( Boys ticket, still got). Souvenir programme Sixpence @ double the normal cost. Great memories.
