Thought Wes Thomas was the 2nd best player on the pitch yesterday after Davis. Obviously it would be a gamble taking him but he is out of contract and his family live in Enfield so it would make sense.
The other strikers perhaps worth looking at are Manset, Bauza from Hereford, Craig Reid Newport County
But Harrad is a great shout from Sammo and I would break the bank for him.
p.s Can see Davis leaving

Not that we had much chance of signing him anyway, but given Harrods heroics in the Cup yesterday, you'd think his dream of a championship club taking a punt on him may come true now?

If Burton go an an FA Cup run they may see more value in keeping Harrad on to keep them going...I know he'd then be on a "free" in the summer, but he'd be worth more to them in extra income now.

Very true......Harrad has also put himself in the shop window with a vengeance....showcased on TV and his goals photographed all over the papers. Surely others will come in and out bid the Cobblers

Really liked the look of Thomas yesterday. Fast, good touch and excellent finish for the goal!

If we've got £175k available to spend on a striker, we could potentially get a terrific player (Shrewsbury spent a similar amount on Grant Holt, likewise Rotheham on Le Fondre), but I'd rather Sammo and Crosby sit back and take their time over making sure they get the right man in, rather than making a rash decision.
I'd rather we didn't spend that much money on a player when clearly we can't afford it. We are only likely to offer a player up to 3 years in terms of length of contract and would probably lose them to another club once that expires anyway. Despite Harrads contract being up at the end of the season, his two goals yesterday against Boro have just about ended any hope we had in signing him up. I'd be very surprised if a Championship club didn't snap him up for next to nothing in the next week or so

I reckon this thread should be re-titled "The Wish List" thread. I'm personally wishing that Man City might lend us Adebayor till the end of the season, with them paying his wages. And he used to live in north London. He's also seen Northampton on the exit signs for J16, 15A and 15 of the M1, so he should fit in well here.

Surely there must be some other issue with McLeod that explains why no club other than Barnet wanted to take him? His record suggests he should be playing at League One level, at least.

I think we should offer Ade Akinbiyi a ££ per goal contract, he wont score many but would certainly do a job as a target man and in that case would be a cheap option

I can't think of anything funny to write here

Signed for Newport County last week..... I stand corrected.....Newport pulled out...... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newport_county/9348978.stmGetting him in on a non contract basis wouldn't hurt, would it?

I remember some excitement when we signed similar 'known' player in Trevor Benjamin a few seasons back but he failed here (Was he one-eyed?) and of course One (now with Scottish club?). Would AA be the same disappointment ?

I think Akinbiyi would be perfect for a six-month deal - lots of the attributes we've been missing post-Bayo. He's clearly not a long-term option, but then we have a real short-term need and can look again in the summer.

Attitude? Troublesome? Non-footballing issues! 75 goals in 220 odd appearances though is a decent strike-rate!
